Nefertari Wire Wrap Egyptian Collar

$425.00
"Nefertari" Wire Wrap Egyptian Collar

This one of a kind piece is the first in a series of historically based jewelry pieces. Reminiscent of Ancient Egypt this piece is constructed with 14g and 26 g copper wire, glazed ceramic scarab, turquoise, 8mm rhodolite garnets and enhanced 8mm lapis.
It has a unique closure on the side to make it easy for the wearer to get on and off.

Shipping includes priority with delivery confirmation.

Nefertari

During the nineteenth Dynasty a queen by the name of Nefertari was in power with Ramesses the Great. She was one of many wives, but continued to remain one of his favorites. Her birth parents remain a mystery, but it’s determined she is of royal heritage. It’s however known that she had a brother by the name of Amenmose who was the mayor of Thebes during her rule as queen. She had two sons, Amonhirwonmef, Prehirwonmef and two daughters named Merytamon, and Mertatum.

Looking at all the monuments constructed it’s pretty evident she was of high importance. She must’ve played an important role in her time. Most depictions of the queen stand with Ramesses II, which might mean she might’ve had a major political influence on Egypt. Ramesses II also dedicated a temple to her called Abu Simbel. This temple is located south of Aswan near the second Cataract of the Nile. This temple was designed with four large statues of Ramesses II with several small figures at his side. The temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari.

Nefertari was not the only Queen present during the rule of Ramesses II. In fact, Ramesses had a harem filled with many queens. His children were estimated at one hundred or more. Ramesses refers to her as the most beautiful one.

Her disappearance remains a mystery. Experts aren’t sure if she died, or just remained part of the great harem. Her tomb has been found and it remains a precious treasure to Egypt. Her tomb is said to be one of the more extraordinary tombs found to date. It’s located in The Valley of the Queens.

*Special Thanks to kingtutone.com for the information on Nefertari*

Though it is believed that since Ireland was formed by glaciers.... they never had snakes, it is said that St. Patrick rebuked the druids and that they, symbolically, were refered to as the serpents.

It is also legend that St. Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol and reminder of the holy trinity, with the three leaves representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This necklace incorporates both of those legends.

This one of a kind couture necklace is made out of sterling silver 16, 18 and 22 gauge wires. The cross is hammered and shamrocks are wired into each of it's arms and in the center of the modified celtic ring there are three 5mm peridot briolettes forming another shamrock sybolizing the trinity. The collar has three snakes fleeing from the cross up the neck. The collar hooks into one of the serpents on the side for easy closure.

If you're Irish, want be Irish or are just inspired by overcoming evil... this is the piece for you!

Shipping includes priority with delivery confirmation.

Her parents kept her locked in her room, and set two poisonous snakes to keep away all but the most ardent of suitors. The most persisant and brave fellow turned out to be Prince Alf of Denmark, and though he passed the test Alvilda's parents were none too happy about the match. Deciding she wasn't ready to be wedded to some stuffy Prince, Alvilda took advantage of her parents' irresolution and hightailed it out of there. She joined a crew of cross-dressing women, but had barely got started in a career in terrorizing the Baltic coast when they came across a crew of pirates that had lost their Captain. They were so impressed by her capable skills that they voted unanimously to elect her as their new leader. With these fresh reinforcements beneath her ruthless guidance, this formidable woman became such a nuisance to the merchant trade that her former betrothed, Prince Alf, was dispatched to bring the troublesome pirates to justice.

Alvilda and her crew fought back to the best of their abilities, but in the gulf of Finland they were bested at last. Prince Alf and his men boarded the pirates' ship, where hand to hand fighting ensued. After sustaining heavy casualties, Alvilda's crew succumbed and she herself was taken captive. With her beauty concealed by a face covering helmet, she was taken prisoner, and it was only when this helmet was removed that Prince Alf realized who the scourge of the seas had been. For her part, Alvilda was so impressed by how Alf had fought in battle that she married him on the spot. She went on to share his wealth and throne as Queen of Denmark, and together they had a daughter, who they named Gurith. Whether little Gurith followed in her mother's ocean going ways is not known.

(special thanks to the historical female pirates web page for this information)

This beautiful piece represents the darkness of her past, the turquoise freshwater pearls represent her seafaring life and the two stripes through the agate represent the her two lifelines....one of being a Queen and one.... the life of Piracy!

For some reason, I could not remember the colors, but the forms of the Kaliedoscope. It was sectioned off, dissected into geometric shapes. I especially remembered the floral forms it would make.

This piece represents the form in Kaliedoscopes.

The center is crocheted with miniature, silvertoned, coated copper wires and it then blooms out into 22 gauge sterling wire then into 16 gauge sterling wire. The outer loops are hammered. The overall piece is about 3" in diameter and is strung on a 16" sterling box link chain.

This is a great one of a kind piece that would look fantastic with that little black dress.

Shipping includes priority with delivery confirmation.

The chain is about 20" long and is adjustable to be shorter because of the wire hook closure.

The embroidery is done on rich black velveteen using vintage stitch cams on my 1961 Necchi Super Nova Julia sewing machine. There is no computer imaging. The process to create this image takes hours of stitching back and forth to create the design. The colors of the thread which consists of gold, turquoise, royal blue and burgundy and carefully chosen to recreate the look of lapis, turquoise and carnelian found in ancient Egyptian scarab jewelry.

The turquoise teardrop shaped stones are sewn through the chain and wire wrapped into place to echo the look of the feathers and wings found on ancient scarab jewelry. The red coral bead is wire wrapped through the fabric.

This is a carefully crafted and thought out piece that you will never see anyone else wearing but yourself. You will feel like a Queen wearing it.

Shipping includes priority and delivery confirmation.

Measuring about 2 inches tall, he has a 14mm sea agate as his body and 6mm carnelian bead eyes. This is an original design by Sonseeahray and can never be duplicated exactly. (These frogs can be made in sterling silver wire, if that is your preference please convo me.) This is a one of a kind piece. The sea agates I have are extremely different from each other so your frog will never look like anyone else.
