"Nefertari" Wire Wrap Egyptian Collar

This one of a kind piece is the first in a series of historically based jewelry pieces. Reminiscent of Ancient Egypt this piece is constructed with 14g and 26 g copper wire, glazed ceramic scarab, turquoise, 8mm rhodolite garnets and enhanced 8mm lapis.
It has a unique closure on the side to make it easy for the wearer to get on and off.

Nefertari

During the nineteenth Dynasty a queen by the name of Nefertari was in power with Ramesses the Great. She was one of many wives, but continued to remain one of his favorites. Her birth parents remain a mystery, but it’s determined she is of royal heritage. It’s however known that she had a brother by the name of Amenmose who was the mayor of Thebes during her rule as queen. She had two sons, Amonhirwonmef, Prehirwonmef and two daughters named Merytamon, and Mertatum.

Looking at all the monuments constructed it’s pretty evident she was of high importance. She must’ve played an important role in her time. Most depictions of the queen stand with Ramesses II, which might mean she might’ve had a major political influence on Egypt. Ramesses II also dedicated a temple to her called Abu Simbel. This temple is located south of Aswan near the second Cataract of the Nile. This temple was designed with four large statues of Ramesses II with several small figures at his side. The temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari.

Nefertari was not the only Queen present during the rule of Ramesses II. In fact, Ramesses had a harem filled with many queens. His children were estimated at one hundred or more. Ramesses refers to her as the most beautiful one.

Her disappearance remains a mystery. Experts aren’t sure if she died, or just remained part of the great harem. Her tomb has been found and it remains a precious treasure to Egypt. Her tomb is said to be one of the more extraordinary tombs found to date. It’s located in The Valley of the Queens.

This lush ring is inspired by the waterlily frescos on the island of Santorini, once thought to be the lost island of Atlantis.

This is a solid ring made out of hand hammered 14 gauge sterling silver wire, 22 gauge sterling wire and 24 gauge brass wire. It has a total of 16, 6 mm freshwater pearls and a huge 20mm chunk of lemon quartz. It would fit a size 7-8 and is more of a index or middle finger ring.

Great with your favorite jeans or for dress or for a night at the theatre.

ONE OF A KIND. This bold and beautiful pendant inspired by the motion of the planets. Carnelian about 2x1 1/2", chalcedony 1/2" diameter, red jasper 8mm and 10mm new jade stones. Aprox 4 inches in length. 12 guage sterling wire wrapped then hammered and polished by hand.

St. Patrick Rebukes the Serpents WAG Challenge Couture OOAK

This one of a kind couture necklace is inspired by the Etsy Wire Artisans Guild's March theme of Emerald Isle.

I immediately thought of the legend of St. Patrick rebuking the serpents from Ireland. Though it is believed that since Ireland was formed by glaciers.... they never had snakes, it is said that St. Patrick rebuked the druids and that they, symbolically, were refered to as the serpents.

It is also legend that St. Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol and reminder of the holy trinity, with the three leaves representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This necklace incorporates both of those legends.

This one of a kind couture necklace is made out of sterling silver 16, 18 and 22 gauge wires. The cross is hammered and shamrocks are wired into each of it's arms and in the center of the modified celtic ring there are three 5mm peridot briolettes forming another shamrock sybolizing the trinity. The collar has three snakes fleeing from the cross up the neck. The collar hooks into one of the serpents on the side for easy closure.
