This piece... just grew. I'm not sure how. The strange girl by the wishing well started out as an experiment with green, a color I had a great deal of trouble with at the time. This piece broke through some of that. I like her grave expression, a determined set of the mouth and dark eyes gazing away. Does she have coins in her hand? Or has her wish been made?

These guys are one of my favorite paintings... I had such fun titling the books on the shelves and working with all these vibrant greens and blues!

So I've been having some fun with fabric transfers and the doodles from my sketchbooks (also from random scraps of paper saved from years-old meeting notes and bits of correspondence)...This little girl just seemed a good match for the black and white curls on the print. Something like cursive gone awry. The crazy looping is nicely checked by the other print, a fussily detailed medallion design. Curves in and out of control... much like me!

The warm weather is here! and my cats are lined up at the window, watching the birds and wishing I didn't classify them as Indoor Pets... This painting was inspired by my Orion, who dearly loves his naps. What better place this time of year than high in the boughs of a tree, surrounded by the birds and the blossoms...

The painting is done in ink and watercolor on heavy watercolor paper, with the blossoms painted separately and layered to create a collage effect.
