About the necklace

A 25x20x13 mm citrine quartz with a very fine golden color is wire wrapped with 14k gold filled wire and decorated with a 6mm yellow and a 6mm clear cubic zirconia. The pendant has a large bail and it can be removed and put on a different chain. The pendent measures 1.5 inches (3.7 cm) long and hangs from a 3mm 14k gold filled hand woven Viking chain.

Eight 6mm white cultured fresh water rice pearls are wire wrapped to a 60 ax50 mm dark green aventurine carved leaf. A 10mm cultured fresh water green round pearl dangle completes the pendant. The pendant is 2 and ¾ of inches (7 cm) long and 2 inches (5 cm) wide. I used Non-tarnish silver craft wire for the wire wrap.

The bail will accommodate most chains.

Sometimes the simplest things can be the inspiration for a gorgeous piece. A plastic starfish toy was the inspiration for this piece. I happen to be holding both, the starfish and the amethyst donut, at the same time and I liked the look of the starfish holding on to a gem.

My teacher at the time, http://dolldisasterdesign.etsy.com , created the solid sterling silver cast of the starfish. I then cleaned and polished the starfish. After a few trials and errors and breaking a few amethyst donuts, I finally figured out how to attach the starfish, the donut and the bail together.
