I'm using online sites that cross-reference the authors and nymph references to decide on the paintings. To start with I have chosen names with the strongest evidence - those used by multiple authors or with a strong descriptive reference. Unfortunately the vast majority of the nymphs are not written about, named by only one author, or mentioned without any translation or description.

My abstract paintings are an attempt to collate the existing information into 50 final seascape 'portraits'. An interesting aspect of the project is that the nymphs were originally personifications of aspects of the sea, attempts to make tangible features of water, sailing and weather. My paintings now reverse the process by re-abstracting the literal meanings into images.

- - - - -

I'm a full-time artist working from my studio in Greenwich, London.
Over the Rise - Greenwich Park original painting by Tina-M

$165.00
GREENWICH PARK
"Over the Rise"

In the middle of the park is a little dip - where the front lawns meet the bottom of the hills. You walk up a little rise before the path leads downwards just for a bit. A tiny haven of shade under the large ancient trees.

The park is full of lush green grass, criss-crossing paths, ancient trees, and rolling hills. This summer series was created from my own sketches and time sitting in the famous royal Greenwich park, which I have the good fortune to live one block away from! Have a little piece of contemporary art about this beautiful park with a history before Henry VI, a castle (now the Queen's House), the Royal Observatory built by Charles II and a hunting ground by Henry VIII. Next year it will host the 2010 Olympic equestrian events but until then it's still a public park for everyone to enjoy - now including YOU!

Acrylic on canvas, wrapped around hardboard. Ready for framing or to place as it is on your favourite shelf!

Artist: Tina Mammoser
Location: London, England
Size: 24cm x 20cm (9.5" x 7.9")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back
COA from artist

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Remember: original fine art is duty-free to most countries (including the USA, Canada, Australia and more!)

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

I studied painting and printmaking privately with Greenwich artist Annette Johnson. This was supplemented with classes at London's City Lit, Morley College, and Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and the Arts. I'm a fulltime artist working from my studio in southeast London.

My work has been exhibited throughout England and is in private collections both here and in the USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Ireland. As well as various galleries I've had the pleasure of being included in shows at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the National Maritime Museum, the Mall Galleries with both the Pastel Society and the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the annual Cork Street Exhibition for Charity. Painted from a sea perspective, from the Yorkshire Belle boat that tours around the cliffs and caves.

The painting was a challenging process of drawing details lines of the geological fault in the rockface, then using my trademark soft glazing to unify the painting. Strips of green sea and grass lie at the top and bottom of the painting.

Artist: Tina Mammoser
Location: London, England
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Support: Gallery wrapped canvas, 4.5cm deep, clean white painted sides
Size: 70cm x 80cm (28"x31")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back
COA from artist
Payment: Paypal only from outside the UK. UK buyers can also pay by cheque, postal order or bank transfer.

___FREE SHIPPING___
Yes really! It will take one week from ordering to varnish and arrange courier shipping. Once couriered the painting should arrive within a week, please see the Shipping section in my policies for more info.

Don't forget - original fine art is duty-free to the USA!

- - - - -

I'm a full-time artist working from my studio in Greenwich, London. All of my paintings are of or inspired by the sea and are part of an ongoing project (3 years so far!) to cycle the English Coast and paint it. So I go out to a point on the coast with the bike (by train), cycle for 3 or 4 days, then come back and do lots of sketches, studies and finally big canvases.

My work has been exhibited throughout England and is in private collections both here and in the USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Ireland. It's been chosen for shows at The Gallery on Cork Street, the Dulwich Picture Gallery museum, the National Maritime Museum, and with the Pastel Society and Royal Society of Marine Artists.
Towards Squirrel Heaven - Greenwich Park original painting by Tina-M

$165.00
GREENWICH PARK
"Towards Squirrel Heaven"

The central "valley" part of Greenwich Park was dubbed Squirrel Heaven by a friend with two lurchers - who would run in to chase the critters (who they never catch, rest assured) and then never want to leave! With the tall One Tree Hill ahead and walking through the trees you enter the squirrel's realm...

Size: 15.5cm x 29cm (6" x 11.5")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back
COA from artist

The other sister piece "Cold Water" is also in my Etsy shop.

"The White Bridge" at first appears rather contrary to its name. The painting is based on the drawbridges crossing the river in downtown Chicago - a series of drawbridges connecting the city. The white bridge is a simple part of the painting stretching across the vast bright cobalt blue of water. From my Lake Michigan series of horizon paintings.

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

Don't forget - original fine art is duty-free to the USA and many other countries! The other sister piece "The White Bridge" is also in my Etsy shop.

"Cold Water" is a large painting from my Lake Michigan series of horizon paintings. Hints of colours in the waves and light from the sky, and texture from the ice and frost along the shore. I loved my walks and runs along the peaceful, empty beaches in winter.

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

Don't forget - original fine art is duty-free to the USA and many other countries!
$1,500.00
SPLASH! (port)

Yes, a sister painting to the Starboard Splash! This splash has just jumped straight up. It just loves the big blue lake. Painted from a visit 'home' to Chicago and Lake Michigan this past summer. This is a large canvas that would be a great feature piece for any room.

Artist: Tina Mammoser
Location: London, England
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Support: Gallery wrapped canvas, 4.5cm deep, clean white painted sides
Size: 100cm x 80cm (40"x31")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back
COA from artist

Payment: Paypal only from outside the UK. UK buyers can also pay by cheque, postal order or bank transfer.
FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

Don't forget - original fine art is duty-free to the USA and many other countries! No import tax to pay. (I'm happy to check your country for this if you convo me; please note that value-added or sales taxes such as VAT may still be applicable.)

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

The vastness and power of the sea is a constant source of inspiration. In my paintings I simplify real seascapes into tranquil spaces of line, colour and light. The sea is one of the few places we can experience total isolation and become absorbed in its overwhelming space and force. We cannot master or humanise the sea, so I capture mere moments of its lifespan.

Though the paintings are specific places from my cycling along the British coast, many people are reminded of places from their childhood or a favourite seaside spot. Simple abstraction connects with real landscape. The depth and luminosity come from many very transparent layers of colour built up slowly, an effect rarely achieved with acrylic paint. The longer you look the more of the colour and variety you see in the paintings.

Please see my profile for my art background and CV.

A bright shingle (stone) beach reflects light while the dark sea sits calm in the distance under the darkening sky.

This painting is called "Weightless" because while working on it I listened to the song "Weightless" by Girlyman on repeat. Yes, just that one song. A narrow natural structure that creates a boundary between the North Sea and the Humber river into Hull. A strange area of grasses, stone and beach that acts as a nature reserve. Aaah!

Original study of fireworks
4th of July 2009 Lake Michigan series

Artist: Tina Mammoser
Location: London, England
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Support: Gallery wrapped canvas, 4.5cm deep, clean white painted sides
Size: 50x50 cm (20"x20")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back

This is a study done to explore ideas for painting fireworks, inspired by my trip "home" to Chicago this past summer and the fireworks display over Lake Michigan in Racine Wisconsin.

Worth noting: Each fireworks painting has a different coloured background, but they all were painted and intended to go together as a set. :) This painting has a very dark grey tint to the dark night sky background.

Sides: these have been left white per my usual style but I'm happy to paint them dark to match the background if you prefer, not a problem!
Sugar Factory on the river - Greenwich Park original painting by Tina-M

$165.00
GREENWICH
"Tate & Lyle Factory"

A slight variation from the park series, instead a river view from outside my Greenwich studio... I love my view! But it's the antithesis of the seascapes I usually paint.

A slip of green Thames river can be seen with the Tate & Lyle sugar factory directly across from my window. The colours of the factory buildings and docked ship out front change hourly with the light - today it's the soft green building with the red of the pier and cranes glowly pink in the late day. Casting an abstraction of colour along the water.

Acrylic on canvas, wrapped around hardboard. Ready for framing or to place as it is on your favourite shelf!

Artist: Tina Mammoser
Location: London, England
Size: 11cm x 30cm (4.3"x12")
Year: 2009
Signed on front and back
COA from artist

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Remember: original fine art is duty-free to most countries (including the USA, Canada, Australia and more!)

¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•:*¨¨*:•:,¸

I studied painting and printmaking privately with Greenwich artist Annette Johnson.
