Honey Bear Recipe Box hand painted and wood burned

This recipe box represents everything a mother bear needs. The top has a mother bear consoling and licking a baby bears paws. The front a bear at a picnic table. The side a bear waving, and the opposite side is a baby bear climbing a tree and the back is the mother bear finally having enough and laying down for a nap.

This is NOT a collage of cut-outs. Each image was meticulously hand drawn and painted directly onto the wood. It is protected by several layers of triple coat lacquer. It is NOT water proof but can be wiped down with a damp cloth.

Now for the surprises! Inside this box is a wood-burned silhouette of a bear on the inside lid. It also has a wind-up musical movement that plays "Teddy Bears Picnic".

Last but not least the recipe/music box comes with a set of recipe cards made from the artists own bear illustrations. 14 cards total.

The box measures 6-1/2 x 4 x 4-1/2 inches.
This piece cannot be altered.

Buffalo Magic Jewelry Box

There was a time when men and women still roamed the earth in a way closer akin to animals than they do now. They believed in spirits of the wind, earth, sun, moon and in the animals themselves.

At that time there was a lonely Coyote in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. He roamed through the snow in search of food. The deep snows of winter had driven the smaller beasts into the earth to stay warm. The Coyote was not just lonely but hungry.

One day the coyote came upon a great Buffalo Bull trudging through the snow. He watched as the Buffalo pawed the snow and pushed it aside to the still green grass underneath. Coyote watched as the cold mountain winds blew against the large animal who managed to shrug off the ice with just a ripple of his thick, curly hide.

Coyote cried out to the wind, sun and snow spirits. "Save me. I am lonely, cold and hungry more than I have ever been my whole life. Make me a Buffalo so that I too can stand against the wind, the snow." He howled. "Make me a Buffalo so that I can dig through the snow and have food. Make me a Buffalo so that I can stand beside my brother and never be a lonely old coyote again."

There is more to this story...

This box represents the Native American Folklore of the Magic of the Buffalo. Its perseverance and ability to survive hardships.

Perhaps by placing your treasures inside this beautifully painted box you too can capture some of the Buffalo spirit.

This wood box is 9-1/2 x 6 x 3 and lined inside with a silver gray felt. It has brass corners, two flip locks, a brass handle.

The top is hand drawn/painted with oil pencils and paint. The painting started as a wood burned line drawing and took on a life of its own.

All four sides have different depictions. A Coyote, the profile of a Buffalo and two winter mountain ranges on the long sides. These were meticulously pyrographed by hand into the wood.

The wood burned sides were stained and varnished. The entire box has been layered with clear gloss lacquer. This will not make it water proof but it can be wiped down with a damp cloth.

It comes with a little Styrofoam piece inside to push fishing hooks. The foam can be removed.

This wood box with attached lid has been carefully wood burned with a heart wrapped in a ribbon bow and some daisies on each side. Box has been stained and varnished inside and out. Contained in the box is a handmade removable insert that is topped with design pressed felt.

Each of my boxes is unique because they are drawn and burned by hand. So the box pictured is the one you get.

Box outside measures 7x2x1" This is the perfect size for necklaces, watch, or pen and pencil set. Or just about anything you can imagine.

Yeah! Entirely USA made. Box is apple-wood varnished and stained inside and out. Box is slightly larger in diameter than a quarter. 1.5 inches and 1 inch high. Top nests onto bottom. It would fit a small pair of earrings or a ring.

Insert is handmade red pattern press felt glued to poly.

Although I use a pattern for most of my little pill boxes, they are wood burned by hand so each one is going to be a little different than one that looks similiar to it.

What you see in the picture is going to be the box that you get.
