In my never ending quest to create the ultimate handmade pincushion, I took a little survey to find out the most desirable qualities in a pincushion. The top 5 were:

1. Large - room for lots and lots of pins
2. Heavy - so it doesn't move or tip over
3. Not too deep - so needles don't get buried inside
4. Lots of sections - for sorting different types of pins
and needles
5. Stuffed with materials that will sharpen,clean, shine
and condition your pins.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I decided to put a new twist on an old favorite. Here is the result. The classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style! The first change I made is the shape....I made it wider and flatter so there is lots of surface area for storage, and, no more buried needles. Second, the black emery sand that is usually found in the little strawberry is now in the tomato. These approx. 4.75 inch round and 1.5 inch high tomato pancakes are the largest emery pincushions I have seen yet. Each one is stuffed tightly with over 1 full cup of pure emery sand. Weighing in at over 16 0z., this pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to! Just like the original, the sections of the tomato can be used to keep different types of pins and needles sorted. Each pincushion is covered twice to prevent the emery sand from seeping out. The top of this one is made with black cotton fabric with cherry print, with coordinating green on green cotton fabric on the bottom. Fabric pattern placement may vary slightly from photo. The inside pouch is heavy white cotton.

I stuffed the attached strawberry with lanolin rich wool to condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter. It's the perfect place to store your sewing needles.

As with all Love Laurie Products, a touch of whimsy is a must. Each tomato pancake comes with a sewing quote on a pin. This one says "Sewing mends the soul!". Lanolin and Emery Pincushion

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I took a little survey to find out the most desirable qualities in a pincushion. The top 5 were:

1. Large - room for lots and lots of pins
2. Heavy - so it doesn't move or tip over
3. Not too deep - so needles don't get buried inside
4. Lots of sections - for sorting different types of pins
and needles
5. Stuffed with materials that will sharpen,clean, shine
and condition your pins.

These adorable dressform pincushions meet all of the requirements for a high functioning pincushion and they do it with style!

The dressform is stuffed tightly with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure a high lanolin content was retained. This will condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter! To condition your thread before hand sewing, just thread your needle and run it through a few times before tieing it off. No more need for sticky wax! Both front and back can be used to store loads and loads of pins and needles.

The tomato base is 3 inches round and is stuffed tightly with a full 1/2 cup of emery sand to clean and sharpen your pins and needles. It has 6 sections for sorting. The considerable weight of the emery makes it very stable. This pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to. It stands 4 inches tall not including the pretty pin.

As with all Love Laurie Products a bit of whimsey is a must. Each dressform cushie has a cute little pretty pin hand crafted of polymer clay to top it off. Each also comes with a sewing quote on a pin. This one says "As ye sew so shall ye rip!". These are excellent quality seam rippers and needle threaders that have been transformed into mini works of art!But don’t let that stop you from using them. By placing the needle threader in the polymer clay at just the right spot and then baking it into the clay it actually makes it stronger!

The holder is a wooden spool that has been wrapped in a pretty paisley cotton fabric with coordinating pink cotton fabric 'buttons' and ribbon trim. It's a beautiful way to make sure that your tools are always handy! You can also use it to keep a few sewing needles handy!

Pin Dish with Emery Strawberry

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I discovered that some of you prefer to use a dish. I was very surprised to hear this...that is until I tried it myself! A dish can be a very convenient and functional way to store your pins. I asked what the most desirable qualities are in a "pin dish" and these were the top 5:

1. Big - room for lots and lots of pins
2. Heavy - so it doesn't move or tip over
3. Not too deep - for ease of use
4. needle storage - so you don't have to dig around to
find your needles
5. A way to keep pins and needles sharp and clean

After alot of experimenting, I am very pleased to introduce.... The Pin Dish! This is my original design and as far as I know, there is nothing on the market like it.

The Love Laurie Pin Dish is designed after the classic tomato pincushion because, after all, every sewing room needs at least one tomato! It is 4.5 inches wide and a little over an inch deep. This gives you loads of pin storage and ease of use. The attached strawberry is 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide at the widest point making it a great place to store your needles or to seperate your special pins. It is packed tightly with pure emery sand. When you need to clean or sharpen a pin just poke the strawberry a few times and it will be good as new. You can use your pin dish with the strawberry inside or outside of the dish, whichever you prefer. It's also a great dish for beaders.

I wanted to keep the weight down on the dish in order to keep the shipping prices reasonable, but also wanted the dish to stay put. The solution was to add a non-slip pad to the bottom of the dish. It is made out of the same material as a mouse pad. I tested it out and it works great. This dish isn't going anywhere you don't want it too. The pad also provided the added bonus of protecting your furniture!

The Pin Dish has been painted with a special paint that resists chipping and scratching.

I LOVE my pincushions but I must confess, I have added a few Pin Dishes to my craft and sewing tables. They're fabulous!

Emery Pincushion Heart with Rose Pretty Pin!

This Pincushion as as functional as it is beautiful! It is Packed tightly with one cup of pure emery sand which will sharpen and clean your pins and needles. The emery has the added bonus of being quite heavy. This pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it too. It measures 4.5 inches at it's widest point and 4.25 inches at it's longest giving it loads of surface space for lots and lots of pins. It is approx. 1.5 inches deep, so no more worring about buried needles! The heart shape naturally creates sorting areas for sorting pins and needles. Each one is covered twice to help prevent the emery sand from leaking out. The outside of this heart is covered with red velveteen fabric. the inside pouch is heavy white cotton.

The rose pretty pin has been hand sculpted with antique white polymer clay.

As with all Love Laurie products, a touch of whimsy is a must. Each emery heart comes with a sewing quote on a pin. This one reads "So dear to the heart is a mother like you!" Wrist Pincushion - custom fit

Custom Fit wrist pincushion!

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I found out that many of you prefer one that you can wear on your wrist but have trouble finding one you really like. So, I asked what the most desirable qualities are in a wristy. The top 5 were:

1. size - big enough to hold lots of pins but not too big.
3. Protective barrier - so you don't poke yourself
4. convenience - you want it to slip on and off easily
5. Fit and comfort - you want it to be light weight and to
stay put without squeezing your wrist.
5. Shape - you want a low profile and you don't want
corners that make it cumbersome to wear while cutting
and sewing.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I went to the drawing board and concluded that once again, the classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style, was the answer. At 3 inches wide and 1.25 inches high, this cushie will give you lots of storage without being cumbersome even on a small wrist! (It is pictured here on me. My wrist measures just under 6 inches.) The round shape is perfect for function and sections are always great to have, even on a wristy.

It is stuffed with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure that just the right amount of lanolin was retained. The lanolin conditions your pins and needles, so they slide in and out of your fabric like butter! I purchased my raw wool from Majic Stix Fibers at www.skimpysmom.etsy.com.

I have inserted an inpenetrable protective barrier to protect your wrist from jabs. But don't worry, every component has been either machine or hand stitched. There is never any glue used on my pincushions!

The band is made with a quarter inch wide quality elastic that will retain its shape. No fumbling around with closures. Just slip it on and you're ready to go. Here's the best part...your band will be custom made just for you to insure a perfect fit! Just give me your wrist measurement in the notes to seller and allow 24 hours before shipping so I can complete your wristy. Unless you specify otherwise, I will fit your cushie to stretch over your hand easily and sit on your wrist perfectly so it doesn't move around, with very little if any stretch. This will make it comfortable on your wrist and there will be plenty of give if you prefer to wear it over your sleeve. Last picture shows band.

This pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to! The sections created by the different fabric squares can be used to keep different types of pins and needles sorted. Don’t need sections or just prefer one print? Flip it over to the other side for a whole new look….It’s reversible!! Each pincushion is covered twice to prevent the emery sand from seeping out. One side of this one is made with a combination of Mary Englbreit green posies cotton fabric and Mary Engelbriet cherries on a black background. Lanolin and Emery Pincushion

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I took a little survey to find out the most desirable qualities in a pincushion. The top 5 were:

1. Large - room for lots and lots of pins
2. Heavy - so it doesn't move or tip over
3. Not too deep - so needles don't get buried inside
4. Lots of sections - for sorting different types of pins
and needles
5. Stuffed with materials that will sharpen,clean, shine
and condition your pins.

These adorable dressform pincushions meet all of the requirements for a high functioning pincushion and they do it with style!

The dressform is stuffed tightly with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure a high lanolin content was retained. This will condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter! To condition your thread before hand sewing, just thread your needle and run it through a few times before tieing it off. No more need for sticky wax! Both front and back can be used to store loads and loads of pins and needles.

The tomato base is 3 inches round and is stuffed tightly with a full 1/2 cup of emery sand to clean and sharpen your pins and needles. It has 6 sections for sorting. The considerable weight of the emery makes it very stable. This pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to. It stands 4 inches tall not including the pretty pin.

As with all Love Laurie Products a bit of whimsey is a must. Each dressform cushie has a cute little pretty pin hand crafted of polymer clay to top it off. Each also comes with a sewing quote on a pin. This one says "If i stitch fast enough does it count as exercise?". Custom Fit wrist pincushion!

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I found out that many of you prefer one that you can wear on your wrist but have trouble finding one you really like. So, I asked what the most desirable qualities are in a wristy. The top 5 were:

2. Protective barrier - so you don't poke yourself
3. convenience - you want it to slip on and off easily
4. Fit and comfort - you want it to be light weight and to
stay put without squeezing your wrist.
5. Shape - you want a low profile and you don't want
corners that make it cumbersome to wear while cutting
and sewing.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I went to the drawing board and concluded that once again, the classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style, was the answer. At 3 inches wide and 1.25 inches high, this cushie will give you lots of storage without being cumbersome even on a small wrist! (It is pictured here on me. My wrist measures just under 6 inches.) The round shape is perfect for function and sections are always great to have, even on a wristy.

Measuring 3 inches long by 2 inches at its widest point, they are a good size for an emery pincushion. Each one is stuffed tightly with lots of pure emery sand that will keep your pins and needles clean and sharp.They are covered twice to keep the emery from seeping out. Pincushion Jar - OOAK Tri Colored Puppy

This one of a kind Tri Colored Puppy pincushion jar is as adorable as it is functional. Use the puppy parts to to sort loads of your pins and needles. Use the jar to keep your seam ripper, measuring tape, needle threader and other small tools handy while sewing, or to store any small notions such as buttons, beads, ribbon scraps etc. the weight and shape of the jar will keep it from tipping over when sewing.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I decided to put a new twist on an old favorite. Here is the result. The classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style! The first change I made is the shape....I made it wider and flatter so there is lots of surface area for storage, and, no more buried needles. Second, the black emery sand that is usually found in the little strawberry is now in the tomato. These approx. 4.75 inch round and 1.5 inch high tomato pancakes are the largest emery pincushions I have seen yet. Each one is stuffed tightly with over 1 full cup of pure emery sand. Weighing in at over 13 0z., this pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to! Just like the original, the sections of the tomato can be used to keep different types of pins and needles sorted. Each pincushion is covered twice to prevent the emery sand from seeping out. The top of this one is made with brown and blue paisley cotton fabric with coordinating green cotton fabric on the bottom. Fabric pattern placement may vary slightly from photo. The inside pouch is heavy white cotton.

I stuffed the attached strawberry with lanolin rich wool to condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter. It's the perfect place to store your sewing needles.

The dressform is stuffed tightly with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure a high lanolin content was retained. This will condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter! To condition your thread before hand sewing, just thread your needle and run it through a few times before tieing it off. No more need for sticky wax! Both front and back can be used to store loads and loads of pins and needles.

The tomato base is 3 inches round and is stuffed tightly with a full 1/2 cup of emery sand to clean and sharpen your pins and needles. It has 6 sections for sorting. The considerable weight of the emery makes it very stable. This pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to. It stands 4 inches tall not including the pretty pin.

As with all Love Laurie Products a bit of whimsey is a must. Each dressform cushie has a cute little pretty pin hand crafted of polymer clay to top it off. Each also comes with a sewing quote on a pin. This one says "So dear to the heart is a mother like you!". In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I took a little survey to find out the most desirable qualities in a pincushion. The top 5 were:

1. Large - room for lots and lots of pins
2. Heavy - so it doesn't move or tip over

4. Lots of sections - for sorting different types of pins
and needles
5. Stuffed with materials that will sharpen,clean, shine
and condition your pins.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I decided to put a new twist on an old favorite. Here is the result. The classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style! The first change I made is the shape....I made it wider and flatter so there is lots of surface area for storage, and, no more buried needles. Second, the black emery sand that is usually found in the little strawberry is now in the tomato. These approx. 4.75 inch round and 1.5 inch high tomato pancakes are the largest emery pincushions I have seen yet. Each one is stuffed tightly with over 1 full cup of pure emery sand. Weighing in at over 13 0z., this pincushion isn't going anyplace you don't want it to! Just like the original, the sections of the tomato can be used to keep different types of pins and needles sorted. Each pincushion is covered twice to prevent the emery sand from seeping out. This one is made with black velveteen. The inside pouch is heavy white cotton.

I stuffed the attached strawberry with lanolin rich wool to condition your pins and needles and help them to glide in and out of your fabric like butter. It's the perfect place to store your sewing needles.

Custom Fit wrist pincushion!

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I found out that many of you prefer one that you can wear on your wrist but have trouble finding one you really like. So, I asked what the most desirable qualities are in a wristy. The top 5 were:

1. size - big enough to hold lots of pins but not too big.
2. Protective barrier - so you don't poke yourself
3. convenience - you want it to slip on and off easily
4. Fit and comfort - you want it to be light weight and to
stay put without squeezing your wrist.
5. Shape - you want a low profile and you don't want
corners that make it cumbersome to wear while cutting
and sewing.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I went to the drawing board and concluded that once again, the classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style, was the answer. At 3 inches wide and 1.25 inches high, this cushie will give you lots of storage without being cumbersome even on a small wrist! (It is pictured here on me. My wrist measures just under 6 inches.) The round shape is perfect for function and sections are always great to have, even on a wristy.

It is stuffed with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure that just the right amount of lanolin was retained. The lanolin conditions your pins and needles, so they slide in and out of your fabric like butter! I purchased my raw wool from Majic Stix Fibers at www.skimpysmom.etsy.com.

I have inserted an inpenetrable protective barrier to protect your wrist from jabs. But don't worry, every component has been either machine or hand stitched. There is never any glue used on my pincushions!

The band is made with a quarter inch wide quality elastic that will retain its shape. No fumbling around with closures. Just slip it on and you're ready to go. Here's the best part...your band will be custom made just for you to insure a perfect fit! Just give me your wrist measurement in the notes to seller and allow 24 hours before shipping so I can complete your wristy. Unless you specify otherwise, I will fit your cushie to stretch over your hand easily and sit on your wrist perfectly so it doesn't move around, with very little if any stretch. This will make it comfortable on your wrist and there will be plenty of give if you prefer to wear it over your sleeve. Last picture shows band.

Custom Fit wrist pincushion!

In my never ending quest to create the ultimate pincushion, I found out that many of you prefer one that you can wear on your wrist but have trouble finding one you really like. So, I asked what the most desirable qualities are in a wristy. The top 5 were:

1. size - big enough to hold lots of pins but not too big.
2. Protective barrier - so you don't poke yourself
3. convenience - you want it to slip on and off easily
4. Fit and comfort - you want it to be light weight and to
stay put without squeezing your wrist.
5. Shape - you want a low profile and you don't want
corners that make it cumbersome to wear while cutting
and sewing.

So, keeping all of that in mind, I went to the drawing board and concluded that once again, the classic tomato pincushion, Love Laurie style, was the answer. At 3 inches wide and 1.25 inches high, this cushie will give you lots of storage without being cumbersome even on a small wrist! (It is pictured here on me. My wrist measures just under 6 inches.) The round shape is perfect for function and sections are always great to have, even on a wristy.

It is stuffed with lanolin rich wool that I processed myself to ensure that just the right amount of lanolin was retained. The lanolin conditions your pins and needles, so they slide in and out of your fabric like butter! I purchased my raw wool from Majic Stix Fibers at www.skimpysmom.etsy.com.

I have inserted an inpenetrable protective barrier to protect your wrist from jabs. But don't worry, every component has been either machine or hand stitched. There is never any glue used on my pincushions!

The band is made with a quarter inch wide quality elastic that will retain its shape. No fumbling around with closures. Just slip it on and you're ready to go. Here's the best part...your band will be custom made just for you to insure a perfect fit! Just give me your wrist measurement in the notes to seller and allow 24 hours before shipping so I can complete your wristy. Unless you specify otherwise, I will fit your cushie to stretch over your hand easily and sit on your wrist perfectly so it doesn't move around, with very little if any stretch. This will make it comfortable on your wrist and there will be plenty of give if you prefer to wear it over your sleeve. Last picture shows band.

These adorable emery pincushions combine function with fun!
Measuring 3 by 1.5 inches, they are a good size for an emery pincushion. Each one is stuffed tightly with lots of pure emery sand that will keep your pins and needles clean and sharp.They are covered twice to keep the emery from seeping out. Because of the weight of the emery, this pincushion isn't going anywhere you don't want it to. The low profile means no more buried needles while providing lots of space for loads of pins. Pincushion Jar - OOAK Cocker Spaniel

This one of a kind cocker spaniel pincushion jar is as adorable as it is functional. Use the puppy parts to to sort loads of your pins and needles. Use the jar to keep your seam ripper, measuring tape, needle threader and other small tools handy while sewing, or to store any small notions such as buttons, beads, ribbon scraps etc. the weight and shape of the jar will keep it from tipping over when sewing.

can't bring yourself to put pins in this cute little guy? Use it to hold change, doggie treats or any small item.

Animal is attached to a pint sized jar. It measures approx. 7 inches (13 cm.) from the top of his head to bottom of jar. Pins and needles are not included.
