I'm thrilled to see my characters out in the world, worn close to the heart. I had an overwhelming response at the last craft fair I attended, so you can expect to see a lot more soon!

After scanning and resizing my original painting, I print tiny reproductions. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

**note** The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm). It hangs on an 16" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

With a warm foxy hat to wear, let it snow! I really love the swirling flakes, the pale blues and greens of this painting. This sweet blonde has become the face of my holiday cards, but I think she'd much prefer to hang on your wall all year long, so I'm offering her as a print too.

Maggie and the Octopus print

One of the things I love most about living in the Pacific Northwest is being able to walk along the beach or the sea wall, peering into the swirling sea as it crashes against the rocks. When my mom comes out to visit we'll spend hours together climbing over rocks to explore salty tide pools, always looking for...something, anything really!

Tiny crabs, lightening fast fish that catch the glint of the sun on their scales, a purple starfish or two. Our ultimate find so far was a small octopus that was hiding under a rocky ledge waiting for the tide to come back in. He didn't look quite like the one in this painting, but I love the idea of what's lurking below the water, just as interested in our strange human selves as we are with them!

Wee Little Mouse print

Living in rainy Vancouver, I can start to feel a little blue after days on end cooped up in my studio with grey clouds outside. That's when I know it's time to break out the bright colors! A bold shot of tomato red is sometimes exactly what you need to shake off the blahs and get moving again. This wee little mouse agrees - he's ready to scurry on over to his new home!

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's such a departure from my more painterly style and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I think they'd look great in a nursery or kids room, or for anyone who has a joyful spirit!

The Woodland Path - - - 8x8 print

"The Woodland Path" is one of 4 paintings I created as part of a group show I participated in at the Raw Canvas gallery in Vancouver, BC. The theme for the show was "Concepts of Home" and it immediately struck me that where I feel most at home is when I'm out in nature, surrounded by the soft sounds of the leaves fluttering in the wind and the pine needles crunching under my feet.

Of course, the idea of painting traditional landscapes quickly got kgb-ed! My "normal" forest scene morphed into the imaginary fun it would be to live in the forest and ride on the backs of squirrels. Naturally!

I'm so excited to be able to offer fancier versions of my little art pendants, a bit bolder & definitely sassier! The brass locket has been personally hand-antiqued and features a small replica of my original painting, "Snow Day". The locket does open so you can put your own pictures inside too!

It hangs on an antique copper colored chain which closes with a lobster claw. The length is 20 inches, but can be made shorter if you prefer. The locket measures about 1 1/8" (30 mm).

Some of my fondest memories are trips to our local library, the unmistakable smell of old hardcover books with thread-worn covers and curling up in her big bed so we could read together.

The tale of Snow White was one of my favorite stories as a child, though even then I preferred the darker Brothers Grimm version to the slightly sanitized Disney film. It's hard to imagine a kids' movie coming out today that features a huntsman ordered to kill a fair maiden in the woods and then bring back her organs as proof!

Baseball No. 1 - - - ORIGINAL painting on canvas

As part of my 2009 resolutions, I started a series of daily paintings. These are small works designed to help me flex my painting muscles and get out of my usual "cute" style to paint still life and more realistic work. Plus it's been a wonderful way to keep me motivated to be creative each and every day!

I have an entire family full of baseball fans and many fond memories of listening to the game sounds in the background as my grandparents watched the BlueJays (their favorite team) on TV. Some of my best vacation memories are from a big family trip we took down to Florida for spring training. In fact, the baseball I used as my model for this painting is one I had autographed on that trip by Ernie Witt.

Baseball No. 1 was painstakingly hand painted (the stitching detail was not quick!) in acrylics on 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) gallery wrapped canvas (.75" thick).

The edges are painted, so it's ready to hang without requiring a frame (though a frame would look lovely too).

Before shipping, I coat each painting with a professional grade UV protective varnish. Your original painting will be signed and dated on the back, and shipped with care.

As part of my 2009 resolutions, I started a series of daily paintings that are more realistic instead of my usual whimsical characters. These are usually small works designed to help me flex my painting muscles and warm up before working on larger pieces, plus a wonderful goal to keep me motivated to be creative each and every day.

By choosing objects I have around the house, I get a chance to see things in a new way. This baseball, for example, was a great eye opener for me. I'd never really *looked* at all the detail & craftsmanship that goes into each stitch. Amazing! And of course, I was flooded with memories of watching my dad play ball as a girl. I was in charge of the equipment & even got my own jersey that said "Bat Girl" on it. I loved it!

"Caging the Forest Bird" is one of 4 paintings I created as part of a group show I participated in at the Raw Canvas gallery in Vancouver, BC. The theme for the show was "Concepts of Home" and it immediately struck me that where I feel most at home is when I'm out in nature, surrounded by the soft sounds of the leaves fluttering in the wind and the pine needles crunching under my feet.

Of course, the idea of painting traditional landscapes quickly got kgb-ed! My "normal" forest scene morphed into living in the forest inside the belly of a bird, a hollowed out acorn or, like a woodland creature motor home, riding on the back of a squirrel. Naturally!

The print size is 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) on archival Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. With incredibly vibrant colors and sharp detail of the wood grain, your print will look almost like the original when hung under glass.

After scanning and resizing my original painting, I printed a small reproduction and adhered it to a lightweight Scrabble tile (thrifted from my local thrift shop) and coated it with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish. Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm).

The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Necklace options:

A 17" - 18" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

A 16" silver plated snake chain.

You can always tell my mood by the colors I choose for my paintings and with this vibrant blue-green, you know I'm ready for some sunshine! I think this wee little rabbit is feeling the same way, ready to hop over to his new home.

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's such a departure from my more painterly style and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I started painting these cute wee critters on brightly colored backgrounds as a way to unleash my creative spirit & bring the pure joy back to painting. They're cute & silly & put a smile on my face every time I look at them. And hopefully yours too!

I think they'd look great in a child's room or in that quiet corner that needs a splash of color.

Each painting is 6" x 6" on a beechwood block that is 3/4" thick with a hollow back for easy hanging.

(note: some of my other critters are on 1.5" thick blocks. The thicker ones are more sturdy for standing on a bookshelf or window ledge while the thinner .75" ones don't stick out from the wall as much.)

The Crow Keeper has always considered herself a bit of an amateur ornithologist, drawn particularly to crows with their inky black feathers and all-around cleverness.

A bit of a strange bird, she keeps mostly to herself. She's had little luck developing friendships over the years (possibly due to her longing for a "murder" of friends). Instead, she turns her attention to her feathered friends - and gazing up at the sky.

One of the things I like best about living in Vancouver, BC is being able to take long walks along the sea wall, poking around the rocks looking for treasures. While that gets my imagination going, what I'd really rather be doing is floating on my own little boat, like Sarah, exploring the islands that dot the coastline and having lengthy chats with the orcas.

Sarah has always been drawn to the ocean, perhaps owing to the fact that she was born (early and rather unexpectedly) aboard a fishing boat. The rocking of the waves eased her into the world ever so gently. She frequently returns to the water when she wants to relax, sitting back with her sketchbook and drawing the friendly creatures she encounters.

If the killer whales and dolphins are not to be seen that day, Sarah gazes up at the clouds instead, where she's always bound to see something interesting.

Inspired by one of the ultimate style icons, Audrey Hepburn, I wanted to paint a portrait that brought her to life as one of my own girls, in my own big-eyed kgb style, of course!

Growing up I was a very shy child and tended to bury myself in books. I'd create elaborate games and stories populated with my favorite characters. Though I'm not quite as shy as I used to be, I'm still most at home in my little studio, painting away, and bringing friends to life on my canvas.

painted on heavy cold press paper. Before I start a new painting, I will usually spend several hours sketching, playing with ideas and letting my new friend dance to life. With Allison I decided to take this practice a step further and paint a full portrait.

By not painting in a background or the rest of her outfit, I'm allowing myself time to focus on the most important part (in my opinion) - her eyes. Allison's baby blues are so sweet and soulful. I'm excited to see where she'll turn up next in my work!

I was invited to participate in a Dia de los Muertos group show here in Vancouver and had a great time transforming one of my girls into a traditional catrina skeleton. Oh and her cat too!

Growing up on the prairies, every winter I had to pick out a new coat with my mother. They never seemed to last more than one season, either from a growth spurt or from simply being worn out during our brutal winters. Though these days I'd be checking the tag to make sure the fur trim isn't from a real furry creature, I love little details like that - the feel of soft fur against cold red cheeks is a permanent (and delightful) winter memory for me.

The Crow Keeper has always considered herself a bit of an amateur ornithologist, drawn particularly to crows with their inky black feathers and all-around cleverness.

A bit of a strange bird, she keeps mostly to herself. She's had little luck developing friendships over the years (possibly due to her longing for a "murder" of friends). Instead, she turns her attention to her feathered friends - and gazing up at the sky.

I've been painting girls for so long now, it was about time a boy got invited to the party. Of course, this little guy isn't too happy about that. Girls have cooties, you know!

Finn is a curious girl. She walks with her eyes cast down, always scanning the ground for lost (found?) treasures. If you were to borrow one of her many books, you'd likely find something tucked inside - an interesting leaf, a soft feather, a brightly colored wrapper.

Finn never wears shoes with shoelaces.
She knows all of the astrological signs by heart (but thinks astrology is stupid).
Finn loves tigers and the smell of lavender.
Finn hates bubblegum.

Scrabble Tile necklace - - - rabbit original art pendant

Running out of wall space? Show your creative spirit by wearing a shiny original art pendant!

After scanning and resizing my original wood block painting, I had tiny reproductions printed on the same archival quality paper I use for my full size prints. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

**note** The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm). It hangs on an 16" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

I'm thrilled to see my characters out in the world, worn close to the heart. I had an overwhelming response at the last craft fair I attended, so you can expect to see a lot more soon!

Living in rainy Vancouver, I can start to feel a little blue after days on end cooped up in my studio with grey clouds outside. That's when I know it's time to break out the bright colors! A bold shot of tomato red is sometimes exactly what you need to shake off the blahs and get moving again. This wee little raccoon agrees - he's ready to scurry over to his new home!

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's a refreshing departure to give in to the cute side and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I think they'd look great in a nursery, kid's room or for anyone who has a whimsical joyful spirit.
