Art Pendant - Girls Have Cooties

$14.00
I'm thrilled to see my characters out in the world, worn close to the heart. I had an overwhelming response at the last craft fair I attended, so you can expect to see a lot more soon!

After scanning and resizing my original painting, I print tiny reproductions. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

**note** The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm). It hangs on an 16" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

CUSTOM ORDERS
******************
Don't see your favorite painting available? Send me a note and I'll be happy to do a custom order for you. If you have a particular letter you'd like to see on the back, let me know! I may not have your letter available (there's a shortage of Ks for example), but it doesn't hurt to check. :)
Snow Day print

$18.00
With a warm foxy hat to wear, let it snow! I really love the swirling flakes, the pale blues and greens of this painting. This sweet blonde has become the face of my holiday cards, but I think she'd much prefer to hang on your wall all year long, so I'm offering her as a print too.

This is a high quality print produced from a scan of the original canvas, which was hand painted by myself, kgb.

The print measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing. In an 8 X 10 frame, you'll see nothing but the image itself, right to the edges.

All work copyright 2008 K. G. Brownlee

(NOTE: the copyright notice will NOT appear on your print!)

Thank you for supporting indie artists!

Maggie and the Octopus print

$18.00
One of the things I love most about living in the Pacific Northwest is being able to walk along the beach or the sea wall, peering into the swirling sea as it crashes against the rocks. When my mom comes out to visit we'll spend hours together climbing over rocks to explore salty tide pools, always looking for...something, anything really!

Tiny crabs, lightening fast fish that catch the glint of the sun on their scales, a purple starfish or two. Our ultimate find so far was a small octopus that was hiding under a rocky ledge waiting for the tide to come back in. He didn't look quite like the one in this painting, but I love the idea of what's lurking below the water, just as interested in our strange human selves as we are with them!

------------------------

This high quality print is produced from a scan of the original canvas, painted by myself, kgb.

The print measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. After testing several types of archival paper, I settled on this one for its vibrant colors and sharp detail of the canvas texture. Under glass it's tough to tell you're not seeing the original painting!

All work copyright 2009 k.g. brownlee

(NOTE: the copyright notice will NOT appear on your print! Frame is not included, but please contact me for framing options.)

Thank you for supporting independent artists!

Wee Little Mouse print

$18.00
Living in rainy Vancouver, I can start to feel a little blue after days on end cooped up in my studio with grey clouds outside. That's when I know it's time to break out the bright colors! A bold shot of tomato red is sometimes exactly what you need to shake off the blahs and get moving again. This wee little mouse agrees - he's ready to scurry on over to his new home!

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's such a departure from my more painterly style and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I think they'd look great in a nursery or kids room, or for anyone who has a joyful spirit!

Live artfully!

*****************************
This 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) high quality print is produced from a scan of the original painting, hand painted by kgb.

It is printed on beautiful archival Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. With incredibly vibrant colors and sharp detail of the wood grain, your print will look almost like the original when hung under glass.

All work copyright 2009 k.g. brownlee

(NOTE: Frame is not included in this listing, but I'd be happy to have your print framed & shipped ready to hang.
The Woodland Path - - - 8x8 print

$18.00
"The Woodland Path" is one of 4 paintings I created as part of a group show I participated in at the Raw Canvas gallery in Vancouver, BC. The theme for the show was "Concepts of Home" and it immediately struck me that where I feel most at home is when I'm out in nature, surrounded by the soft sounds of the leaves fluttering in the wind and the pine needles crunching under my feet.

Of course, the idea of painting traditional landscapes quickly got kgb-ed! My "normal" forest scene morphed into the imaginary fun it would be to live in the forest and ride on the backs of squirrels. Naturally!

The print size is 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) on archival Epson matte paper with a lovely weight.

A swinging monkey? A tiny pig? They brighten up the day for the tall and the small!

Size: 8" x 8"
Stock: archival matte 60 lb paper

This listing is for a print of my original painting. I started painting these cute wee critters on brightly colored backgrounds as a way to unleash my creative spirit and bring out the pure joy of painting. As much as I love painting my girls, it takes many many layers to get them looking just right, so painting something just plain CUTE is a lovely way to take a break.

**All prints are now mailed out in an eco-friendly "plastic" sleeve that is actually made from plants. 100% biodegradable! In fact, you can throw it right into your compost heap!

Live arfully,
Kris

They had me grinning the entire time I was creating them. I can't look at any of these silly wee guys without giggling!

Though I created the "Green" series with the intention of the gang being displayed together, you're welcome to pick and choose your favorite critter as a solo print. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm). It hangs on an 16" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

I also have silver plated snake chains available, if you'd prefer (no extra charge!).

$18.00
Pirate ships & treasure chests - oh my! Lost in her own little world, this wide-eyed girl could've been me growing up. I credit my mom for nurturing my love of reading. Some of my fondest memories are trips to our local library, the unmistakable smell of old hardcover books with thread-worn covers and curling up in her big bed so we could read together.

These days you'll often find me curled up in bed with a good book and a snoring pug, who is quite a noisy replacement for my mother, it has to be said. Still, the trips my imagination takes me down haven't changed and I hope this painting floods your own imagination with grand adventures and heartwarming memories.

This listing is for a high quality print produced from a scan of the original "A Grand Adventure" canvas, which was hand painted by myself, kgb.

The print measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing. In an 8 X 10 frame, you'll see nothing but the image itself, right to the edges.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. With incredibly vibrant colors and sharp detail of the canvas texture, your print will look almost like the original when hung under glass and should withstand fading for several decades.

Your print will arrive signed and dated by the artist in a protective cello envelope, shipped in a stiff cardboard mailer made of recycled materials.

All work copyright 2009 Kris G. It's hard to imagine a kids' movie coming out today that features a huntsman ordered to kill a fair maiden in the woods and then bring back her organs as proof!

This listing is for a high quality print produced from a scan of the original canvas, which was hand painted by myself, kgb.

The print measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing. In an 8 X 10 frame, you'll see nothing but the image itself, right to the edges.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant archival paper with a nice weight.
Baseball No. 1 - - - ORIGINAL painting on canvas

$200.00
As part of my 2009 resolutions, I started a series of daily paintings. These are small works designed to help me flex my painting muscles and get out of my usual "cute" style to paint still life and more realistic work. Plus it's been a wonderful way to keep me motivated to be creative each and every day!

I have an entire family full of baseball fans and many fond memories of listening to the game sounds in the background as my grandparents watched the BlueJays (their favorite team) on TV. Some of my best vacation memories are from a big family trip we took down to Florida for spring training. In fact, the baseball I used as my model for this painting is one I had autographed on that trip by Ernie Witt.

----

Baseball No. 1 was painstakingly hand painted (the stitching detail was not quick!) in acrylics on 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) gallery wrapped canvas (.75" thick).

The edges are painted, so it's ready to hang without requiring a frame (though a frame would look lovely too).

Before shipping, I coat each painting with a professional grade UV protective varnish. Your original painting will be signed and dated on the back, and shipped with care.

All work copyright 2009 kris g. brownlee

A swinging monkey? A tiny pig? Of course the Bee Girl had to make an appearance! They brighten up the day for the tall and the small.

Live arfully,
Kris

These are usually small works designed to help me flex my painting muscles and warm up before working on larger pieces, plus a wonderful goal to keep me motivated to be creative each and every day.

By choosing objects I have around the house, I get a chance to see things in a new way. This baseball, for example, was a great eye opener for me. I'd never really *looked* at all the detail & craftsmanship that goes into each stitch. Amazing! And of course, I was flooded with memories of watching my dad play ball as a girl. I was in charge of the equipment & even got my own jersey that said "Bat Girl" on it. I loved it!

----

This 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) high quality print is produced from a scan of the original canvas, hand painted by myself, Kris G. Brownlee (kgb).

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. With incredibly vibrant colors and sharp detail of the canvas texture, your print will look almost like the original when hung under glass.

(NOTE: Frame is not included in this listing, but I'd be happy to ship your painting framed & ready to hang. After scanning and resizing my original painting, I adhered a tiny reproduction to a lightweight Scrabble tile (thrifted from my local thrift shop) and coated it with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish. Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm).

The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof.

My "normal" forest scene morphed into living in the forest inside the belly of a bird, a hollowed out acorn or, like a woodland creature motor home, riding on the back of a squirrel. Naturally!

The print size is 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) on archival Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. With incredibly vibrant colors and sharp detail of the wood grain, your print will look almost like the original when hung under glass.

All work copyright 2009 k.g. brownlee

(NOTE: Frame is not included in this listing, but I'd be happy to have your print framed & shipped ready to hang.
Caging the Forest Bird - - - 8x8 print

$18.00
"Caging the Forest Bird" is one of 4 paintings I created as part of a group show I participated in at the Raw Canvas gallery in Vancouver, BC.

Kaila's big eyes and white hair make her feel like she'd be just as at home running around the pages of a graphic novel in shiny boots as she is in this simple portrait.

------------------------------

This quality print was produced from a scan of the original painting, painted by me! Of course, this little guy isn't too happy about that. Girls have cooties, you know! He tries to be nice to his sister (really!), but somehow always ends up in trouble anyway. How was he supposed to know she didn't want to play with that frog?

Title: Girls Have Cooties
Artist: kris g. brownlee
Medium: acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
Dimensions: 12" x 12" (3/4" thick)

This listing is for the original painting, not a reproduction or print. The edges are painted, so it's ready to hang without requiring a frame (though a frame would look lovely too). The Redhead Reader is one of my favorite paintings (& people keep telling me she looks like a self-portrait...oops!). I love the idea of wearing her close to the heart as an upcycled lightweight Scrabble tile pendant.

Each pendant is approximately 7/8" X 3/4" (20mm X 18mm).

The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

Necklace options:

A 17" - 18" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or burnt copper.

or

A 16" silver plated snake chain.

Please mention which necklace you'd prefer in the "notes to seller" box on checkout.

Live artfully!
kgb

OK, a swirly blue striped lollipop may still fall into the "cute" category, but what can I say? I paint what I love. :)

"Whirlypop Blue" is an original painting (not a reproduction), 8" X 8" on gallery wrapped stretched canvas (3/4" thick). The edges are painted, so it's ready to hang without requiring a frame, though a frame would look lovely too.

Before shipping, I coat each painting with a professional grade UV protective varnish.

All work copyright 2009 kris g. brownlee

I love the way these flat notecards turned out showcasing some of my favorite paintings.

Their rounded corners and blank white backs with a small Cagey Bee logo make them perfect for sending a thank you note, tucking into a gift or decorating your fridge or bulletin board.

For the "Umbrella Girl" notecards, I decided to crop the original painting a little tighter. We miss out on her sweet rubber boots, but I think the close up view works better on this smaller format.

Your postcard pack will arrive with 10 notecards sized 4 X 6 inches and 10 brown bag envelopes made of 100% recycled material that are lovely to the touch, all sealed up in a rainproof cello sleeve.

Enjoy!

I couldn't be more thrilled to offer her as a shiny pendant now too!

After scanning and resizing my original painting, I had tiny reproductions printed on the same archival quality paper I use for my full size prints.

It hangs on an 18" three-strand necklace (also handmade by me) in either silver or copper.

I'm thrilled to see my characters out in the world, worn close to the heart. I had an overwhelming response at the last craft fair I attended, so you can expect to see a lot more soon!

Wrapped in a cozy sweater in front of a beautiful background of deep greens and copper, I think she'd look perfect glancing down on your favorite reading spot.

-------------------------------------

"Redhead Reader" is an original painting, 8" X 10" on gallery wrapped stretched canvas.

She's had little luck developing friendships over the years (possibly due to her longing for a "murder" of friends). Instead, she turns her attention to her feathered friends - and gazing up at the sky.

******************
Title: The Crow Keeper
Artist: Kris G.
Original Painting - Sarah and the Orca

While that gets my imagination going, what I'd really rather be doing is floating on my own little boat, like Sarah, exploring the islands that dot the coastline and having lengthy chats with the orcas.

Sarah has always been drawn to the ocean, perhaps owing to the fact that she was born (early and rather unexpectedly) aboard a fishing boat. The rocking of the waves eased her into the world ever so gently. She frequently returns to the water when she wants to relax, sitting back with her sketchbook and drawing the friendly creatures she encounters.

If the killer whales and dolphins are not to be seen that day, Sarah gazes up at the clouds instead, where she's always bound to see something interesting.

*****************
Title: Sarah and the Orca
Artist: Kris G. After scanning and resizing my original painting, I had tiny reproductions printed on archival paper. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile (thrifted from my local thrift shop) and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

$18.00
Inspired by one of the ultimate style icons, Audrey Hepburn, I wanted to paint a portrait that brought her to life as one of my own girls, in my own big-eyed kgb style, of course!

Growing up I was a very shy child and tended to bury myself in books. I'd create elaborate games and stories populated with my favorite characters. Though I'm not quite as shy as I used to be, I'm still most at home in my little studio, painting away, and bringing friends to life on my canvas.

*************************************

This quality print is produced from a scan of my original painting.

The print measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant matte paper with a lovely weight. After testing several types of archival paper, I settled on this one for its vibrant colors and sharp detail of the canvas texture. Under glass it's tough to tell you're not seeing the original painting!

All work copyright 2009 k.g. brownlee

(NOTE: Frame is for example purposes only, though I'd be happy to ship the print already framed. They're cute & silly & put a smile on my face every time I look at them. And hopefully yours too!

I think they'd look great in a child's room or in that quiet corner that needs a splash of color.

Each painting is 6" x 6" on a beechwood block that is 3/4" thick with a hollow back for easy hanging.

(note: some of my other critters are on 1.5" thick blocks. The thicker ones are more sturdy for standing on a bookshelf or window ledge while the thinner .75" ones don't stick out from the wall as much.)

The edges are painted so framing is not required. Before I start a new painting, I will usually spend several hours sketching, playing with ideas and letting my new friend dance to life. With Allison I decided to take this practice a step further and paint a full portrait.

By not painting in a background or the rest of her outfit, I'm allowing myself time to focus on the most important part (in my opinion) - her eyes. Allison's baby blues are so sweet and soulful. I'm excited to see where she'll turn up next in my work!

------------------------------

Since the portrait studies don't take as long to complete, I'm able to offer them as a more affordable way to own a true original.

Medium: acrylic

Size: 9" x 12" (22.9 x 30.5 cm)

Support: 185 LB (400 GSM) cold press acid-free paper made in France

This beautiful paper is so thick it's almost like board, but still thin enough that you can easily pop it into a frame just like a print.

Live artfully!

All work copyright 2009 kris g. brownlee

Oh and her cat too!

There is so much texture in the outer "frame" that shows up beautifully in this print along with the teeny tiny dots that took mucho patience to hand paint.

This quality print was produced from a scan of the original painting, painted by me! It measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant archival paper with a lovely weight. The edges are painted, so she's ready to hang without requiring a frame (though a frame would look lovely too).

Growing up on the prairies, every winter I had to pick out a new coat with my mother. They never seemed to last more than one season, either from a growth spurt or from simply being worn out during our brutal winters. Though these days I'd be checking the tag to make sure the fur trim isn't from a real furry creature, I love little details like that - the feel of soft fur against cold red cheeks is a permanent (and delightful) winter memory for me.

Each original painting is signed and shipped with care.

All work copyright 2008 K. Wishful thinking perhaps, as the mister & I live in rainy Vancouver & always seem to be without an umbrella when the rain starts to fall. Personally? I blame him. ;)

*********************************************

This listing is for the original painting, 8" x 10" on gallery wrapped canvas .75" thick (not a reproduction!). This wee little polar bear is ready to climb out of the snow and into his new home too!

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's such a departure from my more "painterly" style and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I think they'd look great in a child's room or for anyone who has a whimsical joyful spirit.

Live artfully! Surround yourself with things that make you smile. :)

-------------------------------------

"A Wee Little Bear" is an original painting, 6" X 6" on a beautiful beechwood support that is 1.5" thick. The edges are painted, so it's ready to hang without requiring a frame. Since the wood block is so thick, this painting is sturdy enough to stand freely on a window ledge or bookshelf.

Before shipping, I coat each painting with a professional grade UV protective varnish. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile (thrifted from my local thrift shop) and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

She's a bit of a tomboy too, catching frogs and always coming home with scraped knees.

Trustworthy and fiercely loyal, Deedee is a good friend to have. As a child I was extremely shy and could've used a dose of Deedee on the playground. (Frame pictured above is not included, though I'd be happy to discuss framing options).

All work copyright 2008 K. G.
Original painting - Danielle

$225.00
Danielle's pale skin and wide eyes give her a haunting look, but every time I catch her watching me, I can't help smiling.

Born in New Orleans, Danielle loves Tim Burton movies, singing Billie Holiday in the shower and tea parties.

This painting is a bit of a departure from my usual style of "cute" girls and I absolutely love it. I was inspired by the incredible art dolls created by fellow Etsy seller, Colleen Downs. Please visit her shop, Loopy Boopy:
http://loopyboopy.etsy.com/

This listing is for the original painting (not a reproduction!), 12" X 12" (30 cm X 30 cm) on gallery-wrapped canvas 3/4" thick.

Before shipping, I coat each painting with a professional grade UV protective varnish. The edges are painted, so she's ready to hang without requiring a frame (though a frame would look lovely too).

All work copyright 2009 k.g. brownlee

Art Pendant - Finn

After scanning and resizing my original painting of the mischievous Finn, I had tiny reproductions printed on archival paper. The artwork is adhered to a lightweight Scrabble tile and coated with a non-toxic crystal clear resin for a shiny, glass-like finish.

The pendants are well sealed, but not completely waterproof. Just like gremlins, don't let them in the pool!

I may not have your letter available (there's only one J in an entire box, for example), but it doesn't hurt to check! :)

He loves to cuddle (and who could resist those big eyes?), but be warned - he may just sneak off with your shiniest objects after you fall asleep.

He loves sardines and jazz fusion. He's afraid of bees. And he needs a new home!

------------------------------
This high quality print is produced from a scan of my original painting. It measures 8.5" X 11" which includes a white border for framing.

It is printed on beautiful fade resistant Epson matte paper with a lovely weight. After testing several types of archival paper, I settled on this one for its vibrant colors and sharp detail of the canvas texture. Under glass it's tough to tell you're not seeing the original painting!

Your print will arrive signed and dated in a protective cello envelope, shipped in a stiff cardboard mailer made of recycled materials.

Want to buy it already framed? I can arrange to have it framed prior to shipping so it arrives ready to hang. That's when I know it's time to break out the bright colors! A bold shot of tomato red is sometimes exactly what you need to shake off the blahs and get moving again. This wee little raccoon agrees - he's ready to scurry over to his new home!

I really love the simple, graphic nature of this gang of characters. It's a refreshing departure to give in to the cute side and I can't keep the big grin off my face as they spring to life on their brightly painted blocks. I think they'd look great in a nursery, kid's room or for anyone who has a whimsical joyful spirit.

Live artfully!

*****************************
This 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm) high quality print is produced from a scan of the original painting, hand painted by kgb.

It is printed on beautiful archival Epson matte paper with a lovely weight.
