This piece is from the American Brilliant Period.

The American Brilliant Period in cut glass history began around 1850 and lasted into the early 1900s. Gypsum is a mineral compound also called sulphate of lime, which is usually found underground near limestone deposits. Raw gypsum is a pure white crystal called alabaster. When gypsum is heated, the resulting white powder is called burnt gypsum, also known as Plaster of Paris for the large gypsum deposit at Montmartre in Paris. Ordinary schoolroom chalk is also a form of burnt gypsum. Gypsum is easily cast into sculptures and decoration for frames, but is quite soft and breaks easily.

The tag inside says "Wolberg" Hand Made in Hong Kong.

Ca. 1950-1960

Very clean on the inside. There is one bead that is loose on the bag, the threading isn't broken and the bead is still attached to the bag, it looks like it was just snagged and could easily be put back into place. There is one strand of the 4-strand strap that is broken with some missing beads. You can see this on the pictures.

Measures 6.5" long and 6.5" at the widest point. The strap is 14" long

It is quite peculiar! The round cut crystals in the center are held in not only with prongs, but also with screws! Moreover, it features an odd clasp one must pull out on to engage or disengage the pin back.

It is really quite fetching, and would certainly make a statement. The prongs holding the triangular crystals on were once bedecked with rhinestones, but only two remain. The lower back screw needs a new nut. (is that what it's called?)

Measures 2.25" x 1"

marked "czechoslov" on the pin.
Very Art Deco

Vintage Chalkware Lion of Lucerne Bookends

Each bookend measures 7" x 2.75". One lion is missing the middle portion of his tail and has a chip in the mane. A few hairline cracks in the pieces and some small chips along the edges but no other serious damage to the pieces.

History lesson: The Swiss have a long tradition of supplying mercenaries to foreign governments. Because the Swiss have been politically neutral for centuries and have long enjoyed a reputation for honoring their agreements, a pope or emperor could be confident that his Swiss Guards wouldn't turn on him when the political winds shifted direction.

The Swiss Guards' honor was put to the test in 1792, when--after trying to escape the French Revolution--King Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette, and their children were hauled back to the Tuileries Palace in Paris. A mob of working-class Parisians stormed the palace in search of aristocratic blood. More than 700 Swiss officers and soldiers died while defending the palace, without knowing that their royal employers--like Elvis--had left the building.

In the early 1800s, the Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen was hired to sculpt a monument to the fallen Swiss Guards. The sculpture was carved in a sandstone cliff above the city center, near Lucerne's Glacier Garden and the Panorama, and it has attracted countless visitors since its dedication in 1821

This lovely piece of historical metalwork looks quite fetching tied to a ribbon or strung on a chain around your neck.

The key is marked on one side with "3K" and on the other, "Eagle Lock Co" "Terry-??? U.S." It is worn and hard to make out.

2-3/8" long.

Along with this key, my collection also holds a similar one dated 1859 that will be posted later.

Antique Bracelet with Red Garnet Rhinestones

$75.00
This beautiful piece is made up of 46 tiny garnet-like glass stones, elegantly mounted in a brass-colored metal bracelet. The 'stones' are faceted into pyramid shapes. The bracelet bends around your wrist, looking effortlessly elegant, with a early-industrial feel to it.

The bracelet is gorgeous, but there is one stone missing it's metal setting. When worn, this seems to fall nearly in the center of my wrist, and looks almost intentional. Since that piece is missing, you can also see the intricate looped wire that makes the bracelet bend and holds it all together. A few other settings are very slighly bent. The links could use a good cleaning in between them. No pieces seem loose or broken at all.

Unsigned.

2.5" x 2" in diameter.

Also has a letter from the Boy Scouts of America Chief Scout Executive dated July 31st, 1913 explaining the purpose behind the "Every Boy's Library" editions.

Overall condition is fairly good for the age considering this book was owned by adolescent boys. A few of the illustrations are loose and I did notice a rip in one page. Binding is tight, but the covering is frayed on the top and bottom of the spin. One rip in the covering on the spine. Corners of the cover are also well worn.
