Ivory Pomegranate

This is my artist interpretation of the artifact found in Israel of a small ivory pomegranate. It measures 1 1/4" from the highest tip to the bottom (not including gold ball) which is a bit smaller than the original. This has been all hand carved from a solid piece of fired clay, and distressed to look like it's been around for millennium.

The inscription reads 'Holy to the LORD' It is not the inscription on the original, but shows possession of temple items that belong to Him. It also reflects this on the wearer, he/she who belongs to HaShem.

It is strung by a bead bar that goes all the way through is and is stabilized on each end with a golden ball. Hangs from a Golden circle choker that fastens with a similar sized golden ball, but the pomegranate can be removed and put on a chain of your own if you desire.

This is one of my most favorite verses from our Prophet, Malachi. If puts joy into my heart as I read these words, it speaks of the Love HaShem has in His heart for us. From Malachi 3:7 "Return to Me and I will Return to You."

This Mezuzah I have created with the background to look like the Kotel, the Wall, pitted and scarred by all the wars and violence it has seen, yet still remains one of the most beautiful things on earth, especially when the sun hits it. There on the wall sits a glass vial to put your mezuzah parchement in ( approx 55mm in length). It is wrapped in an ancient looking scroll unwound a bit to reveal the verse above in Ancient Hebrew, dating from Hezekiah's time.

It measures 2 1/2" at widest by 3 1/4" long. This is a one of a kind piece and attaches to your doorpost with two small nails, included.

Signed and dated on back by the artist.

These Earrings are very special as they contain some letters from a scrap of parchment from an ancient Greek megillah of Esther that have been artistically interpreted in clay by the artist.

This piece is designed to look like a personal locket , or Amulet that was made especially for Esther carved from Ivory, not by the King, but perhaps by her Uncle Mordechai, to remind her who she was. This necklace is very special and took me quite awhile to complete it. It started with watching a movie called the 'Paperclips'. We were taken as slaves out of Egypt, and we still struggle today to prove that we were ever there, just like we struggle with those in the world today that insist there was never such a thing as the holocaust.

This necklace has a miniature reproduction of part of the Rosetta stone that was left as a form of a decipher of sorts so that one day the Ancient Egyptian language could be read and understood. I have faith that one day they will discover words that describe our presence there unmistakably. Each 'bead' is formed over the paper clips, both regular size and large. There are black Rosetta beads on one side and on the other, a aged crackled texture. In between these on the little paperclips are formed faux red coral. Red coral is a live animal and the reefs are being stripped for their beauty.

This is an eco-friendly necklace in that the beauty of the coral is there but no animals lost their homes and lives so that we could feel good about our selves, something I can relate to , and I hope you will too. The pendant is suspended on a silver bail that goes all the way through the pendant. The backside is texture like the real stone and all are polished to look like polished coral or time worn stone.The pendant measure 2 1/2" to the point and the overall beaded neckchain is 24".

Rosetta Stone focal Bead Bracelet ringed with eco-friendly red Coral (faux) and silver textured beads. Made to fit most wrists.

To save the Coral reefs from being harvested of this gem of the seas, I fashioned each of the 14 'branches' of faux coral by hand, adding the slight imperfections that appear in the natural coral by reef worms, nibbling fish and just the natural growth. They are polished to a wonderful tactile shine and strung with antiqued silver metal spacers.

All of these surround your wrist to highlight the main gem of this bracelet, the Rosetta stone. The faux stone I have created showcases the main body in Demotic with Greek on the bottom and a bit of Egyptian Hieroglyphics on the top (see pictures), antiqued with light paint to highlight the graphics.

Ancient Qumran Sundial or Calendar

This is my artistic interpretation of this piece of Ancient Israeli history.Signed and dated by the artist on the back. The piece measures approx 110mm across(4.33").

I've been fascinated for years over this archeological find. Like the disc of Phaestos it is still a mystery as to its meaning.

I have made a 'foot stool' for it to rest upon for display which is not connected so you choose to use it for display or not. The dial is of one solid piece of clay all hand carved, those are not lines painted on. It has been textured with genuine geological elements and includes sand from the land of Israel. It has been stained to bring out the details and sanded in places to show a worn with age feel.

This is not made from a mold and is a one of a kind piece. Stick shown only for display purposes to show how it can act as a sundial of sorts. The dial was found in two pieces and I have simulated that without making two pieces and then glueing together. You can see the 'crack line' runs from front to back.

Shofar and Tallit Mezuzah

The shofar is part of our mitzvot, and what more appropriate item to be surrounding the command to write all the mitzvot and have them on our doorposts? The miniature, hand sculpted shofar surrounds the glass vial that holds a copy ( to be replaced at your discretion) of the scriptures of the mezuzah parchment. And this is laid out on the traditional white with blue stripe, tallit that is sculpted to resemble the weave of a tallit and the fringes.

Two tiny golden screws are included to obey the mitzvah and attach to your choice of indoor doorpost.

This is my last in a series (Less than 10) of the shofar on tallit and I don't know if I will be making any more of these again.It measures, 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" and will fit nicely on any door frame.

The 'tallit' is done in a flat white and blue stripes, that are not polished but have been highlighted with gold, thus the reflection in the pictures. But the shofar has a polish on it to resemble the polished kudu horn used today for the shofar in most synagogues.

This is the letter alef in the ancient Hebrew alef-bet. Made to look like it a deep carving in stone, highlighted to bring out the carving.

Alef is also the first letter in Ahavah, the Hebrew word for Love. Is there someone you want to tell that to in a unique way? This could be it.

Ancient Hebrew 10 Commandments Art Necklace

The mitzvot for tefillin and mezuzah.

Not exactly a command to do this, but why not? Wear the 10 that were carved by the hand of HaShem around your neck, just above your heart?

Each of the ten has been translated (translation checked over three times for accuracy) into the ancient Hebrew and hand written on sepia parchment paper with sepia ink, then the edges have been burned to simulate aged parchment drying and cracking after centuries, like the Dead Sea scrolls. See close-up photo of Mitzvah 4 (the longest and hardest to translate on this size paper)

Then they have been carefully rolled up and put into an individual bottles for safekeeping and display. The bottles are each topped securely. They are strung together in order from right to left and ornamented with beautiful black and black and copper glass beads and finished around the neck with black beads in-dispersed with copper scroll beads . Set at the center is a copper Lion of Judah to complete this wearable art piece

Total length is 22" and finished with a copper rose clasp.

I have made only two versions of this, the other in silver and blue which sold months ago, this last one will be all I make.

Ancient SHEMA ISRAEL Mezuzah

I love the image of Moshe coming down the mountain with the ten commandments. I'm sure they weren't on a granite slab like Hollywood depicts, but that is the image we all have, so I have taken that and brought it to life here with this stone textured, mezuzah. The glass vial is held to the 'tablet' with three straps onto which the SHEMA in ancient, paleo Hebrew is hand carved.

The Name in the paleo, I translated to Adonai.

The V'Ahavta is carved in ancient Hebrew into this 'scroll' made of a special polymer clay that I can't acquire any longer so this is a limited edition of 1.

What wonderful words to meditate on and act upon!

These words are carved into a soft, flexible clay like material and then antiqued to highlight these Holy words. The 'scroll' is wrapped around wooden trees and has wooden handles. It is distressed to look like an ancient scroll and written in ancient Hebrew. The English translation is written on the back and signed by the artist.

Scrolls is approx 2 1/2" wide but is very light to wear. Approx 27" long over the head cord. Can be worn by man or woman. If you would like this shorter, I can oblige that. :)

So the Bat Mitzvah makes the haul, what about mom and pop? This is the gift for them. It ties this ancient rite back to the time of the giving of the mitzvot on Mt Sinai.

Done to look like ancient Middle Eastern stone, and hand carved on the bottom 'Bat Mitzvah' in the Ancient Paleo Hebrew.

There is also a scripture carved at the top from the Psalms

Each piece of the Esther collection began its existence from the artists rendering of an ancient papyrus scroll of Esther found in Egypt in a dump. All found there are classified as Oxyrhynchus Papyri. There was a fragment of the Scroll of Esther found and it intrigued me, being written in Ancient Greek, so I used this as my inspiration in making my 'Almost Artifacts.

Because our people were taken from our homeland and brought to Babylon and forced to learn another language, I thought it appropriate to celebrate how Esther saved us all and in turn allowed us to return to our homeland, but using the Greek scroll and not Hebrew. So each piece is made to honor her memory and her bravery with an ancient look to remind us how long ago that was and how dangerous it was for her to do something like that so long ago.

Give as a gift, add to your Judaica collection. Each is individually crafted and not duplicated. All are One of a kind pieces.

This book is made to look like ivory overlaid on exotic wood. It folds up flat, but has a secret, it opens in a very unique way to reveal a place for a secret message. Esther would have used this to pass secret notes back and forth between herself and her uncle Mordechai.

Two Ivory panels with ancient like writing in Greek of the book of Esther. Inside is lined with Mulberry paper. It closes with and elastic ( yes I know not invented yet, but convenient for you to use) and a 'button' with Esther s Hebrew name in Ancient Hebrew, Hadassah engraved on it.

Measures 3 1/4" x 6 1/4". Perfect size to write a special note to your beloved, or your favorite verse from the book of Esther. It comes with a section of the story that the inspirational papyrus was taken from.
