It has a ribbed texture and measures approx 5 inches high by approx 5 inches across. It is the most darling little tabletop piece. I guess you might call it ivory rather than white. Wheatgrass/chia pet probably not included.....I don't know if the little blades of grass will trasport so well, but I'm happy to include some seeds if that's a deal breaker. Any questions, let me know~!

They have 3 1/4 inch heels- WHICH I LOVE....But I bought them 2 sizes too BIG because I love them so much however, I'm starting to think I'll be the girl on the floor if I keep them. So, unless my feet grow- these might not work out so well for me so I'm offering them up.

Pretty sure they might be vintage 1980's......

Made in Italy
Size 9M

The Man Who Knew Kennedy Vintage book A Novel by Vance Bourjaily

$10.95
"This beautiful and important novel begins on the day President Kennedy is murdered - and ends one half year later. "

Interior reads "This novel is dedicated, inevitably, to the memory of Pres John F Kennedy, but it is an oblique sort of monument. If I were a musician, a poet or sculptor, then I might strike a chord, a stanza, or a stone with which I could try to express my feeling for the subject quite differently. But a novelist's eyes are not particularly suited to looking at the son. We are more moles than eagles, at home in the roots and depths of things.

Probably this book is not a monument at all, but something more like a medallion. Historians and the public recollection have already fixed the image of our late president on the bright side of it- the novelist's job, as I see it, is to suggest some scenes and images for the other side.

copyright 1967 by Vance Bourjaily
first printing

The woman who it belonged to was a shopper extraordinaire, noteworthy interior designer, and a woman of exceptional taste. She had this gorgeous butler's pantry with antique framed french menus, and layers and layers upon shelves and shelves of the most amazing crystal, glass, and silver....It was really the most inspiring home. So, that being said- there wasn't anything in the home that wasn't FABULOUS...She was the first person I knew to purchase a handpainted Venetian Silk light fixture that she bought in venice after I returned home with a catalog.

We believe this could be a vintage or antique baccarrat piece, but it is unmarked so I cannot verify that but will include a piece from a baccarat web site which looks very similar. (the piece shown is a two piece candy dish but the lines are so similar) It measures approx 7 inches high, by about 6 inches wide at it's widest point and the diameter is approx 5 inches at the top. It is fairly heavy or weighty and definitely would not blow over holding even the largest stems... This would make a lovely wedding gift.

I would adore this sprayed glossy turquoise but I will leave it AS IS so that the future owner can do what he/she wishes. It was purchased from a chicago area estate and believed to have been purchased between 25-35 years ago. The bottom is removable.

It is 20 inches high to the top and approx 14 inches wide.

* I realize the cost to ship this will be substantial. It is lightweight but it is oversized so although the value of this birdcage is more in the $125 range I've taken this shipping into account and reduced the cost of the birdcage to make it fair for the buyer.

$12.95
Vintage Book looks so entertaining I'm going to try to zip through it before it sells.Tallulah Bankhead was a dynamic woman unlike any I've ever read about.

Bankhead was born in Huntsville, Alabama and was named after her paternal grandmother.

Bankhead came from a powerful Democratic political family from Alabama. Her father was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives immediately preceding Sam Rayburn.Bankhead herself was a Democrat, albeit one of a more liberal stripe than the rest of her family.

Her older sister, Evelyn Eugenia, was born January 24, 1901 and was known as "Sister." "Sister", who died on May 11, 1979 was married seven times.

Bankhead's family sent her to various schools in an attempt to keep her out of trouble, which included several years at a Roman Catholic convent school (although her father was a Methodist and her mother an Episcopalian).

At 15, Bankhead won a movie-magazine beauty contest and convinced her family to let her move to New York. She quickly won bit parts, first appearing in a non-speaking role in The Squab Farm. During these early New York years, she became known as a hard-partying girl-about-town. During this time she began to use cocaine and marijuana, going as far as saying "Cocaine isn't habit forming. I should know- I've been using it for years." However, she did not consume alcohol to any great degree. She became known for her wit, although it was aid: "She was so pretty that we thought she must be stupid." She became known for her outspokenness

Bankhead appeared as Blanche DuBois in a revival of Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire among several other credits to her name in both broadway and film.

Bankhead was an avid baseball fan whose favorite team was the New York Giants. This was evident in one of her famous quotes, through which she gave a nod to the arts: "There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.

Very cool and very old. The backing is gold as well and has a place where you could string a new wire so you may hang this piece. The image seen here is the original photo that was included in this frame, but I removed it so I could photograph better. It will come without the sepia toned photo. Outside measurements approx 6x8 inches.

This is the type of frame I've seen in antique stores for $150. Great find and would be a nice family heriloom.

It has a scalloped edge and measures approximately 4.5 inches high and6 inches in diameter.

This would be great on a vanity, as a planter, candy dish, or for serving. Pair it up with white dishes and use it for thanksgiving cranberry relish. Could also be used on a bar for lemons and limes, or for nuts. What a great gift- a pretty spoon and this vessel. It is in mint condition and looks to be from the 60's or 70's.

This piece is signed and numbered 299 or z99 and reads:
_____ Di Castelle or Castelli Italy z99
There is a signed name above this information beginning with a B but I cannot make out what it says....

In line with this ruling and in order to conserve materials and manpower, we are co-operating by:
1.Using lighter weight paper which reduces the bulk of our books substantially.
2.Printing books with smaller margins and with more words to each page. Result: fewer pages per book.

Slimmer and smaller books will save paper, and plate metal and labor. We are sure that readers will understand the publishers' desire to co-operate as fully as possible with the objectives of the War Production Board and our government.

"The dust jacket was especially printed with a magnificent dog map of the world. It pictures 66 breeds of dogs and the places of their origin, and is beautfuly suited for framing"
I love the cover of the dustjaceket but the "map" is equally interesting, first published in 1603 by the JL Smith Company, however, it is in very vintage condition, the creases have worn through but it's still a treat to see.

"Practically all the best pieces ever written about the dog".

On the back of the dustjacket there is "A MEssage to America's Dog Owners...Total war has made it necessary to call to the colors many of the nation's dogs. Thousands of dogs, donated by patriotic men, women, and children and trained for special duties with the armed forces, are serving on all fronts as well as standing guard against saboteurs at home..................."

Ten glasses and the shaker.
The shaker has a chrome top in mint condition and measures approx 12 inches high- the gold stripes have some wear due to age but overall the shaker looks pretty nice.

Nine glasses(a set of eight with one to spare:-) I rarely come across 9 of anything vintage...I have sets of glasses from 2 years ago with more breakage :-)

This set is probably from about the 1960's. I don't really think it was used a whole lot but the glasses do have some wear, scratches and fading from age and/or use. However, the set still shows very nicely.

What a fine gift this would be...Or a gift for thyself for some holiday entertaining. I'll take mine UP with an OLIVE, please.

Orfevrerie meaning silverware.
Le grande marque francaise...I'm thinking it means the best of France.

Selling this as one whole page- there are two advertisements on the page as shown and on the reverse, a full page Dodge Automobile ad. Measures 12x16 inches. There is a slight tear on the right hand side-Le Bas LYs ad- about an inch and it ends under the Y in LYS. But the Christofle side is PERFECT. Love this-- it reminds me of the cover of a Wolfman Gold Book that had vintage silver spoons on the cover...

Any questions, let me know!

It's a dear little piece. A little background on the pottery:

Holkham Pottery was founded by the wife of the fifth Earl in 1951 and was produced here until September 2007, making it one of the oldest established potteries in the country. Elizabeth, Countess of Leicester started the pottery to make small, hand-thrown souvenirs for visitors to the hall and the collection grew to include an array of pottery ranges from floristware, tableware, lamps and mugs. Some items were limited in manufacture, making Holkham Pottery now a much sought after collectable

Interior is in excellent condition.

I am a big fan of vintage books- wow, this one nearly 100 years old. I just think for under $20 you can give someone a memorable gift- one that may be passed along for generations to come! The label on the bottom reads" monkey pod phillipines and it appears that this couple did not heart this wedding gift and it went unused for 50 years or so. I was told this was a gift from the 50's....From a local chicago area estate.

Just did a little research and to buy this vintage or brand new by the piece would cost approximately $200+ WOW!

These look like decorative or parade flags and came from a Chicago area estate. They are frameable and a nice size at 16x11 inches.

The woman conducting the sale believed these flags to be from the 1940's or earlier.

My price quoted is for this to ship on a pole as is- in a tube. If you prefer to save on shipping, that rate will be approx $3.50 to send flat in an envelope. (I will remove it from the pole and send)

Albert’s father is an irascible middle-aged general practitioner whose practice is getting smaller and smaller. Most of his patients can’t pay; and many have left Dr. Abrams to go to younger doctors, or to specialists. Albert’s mother is a refined literary-type lady who never complains about their life in the deteriorating neighborhood, even though all of their middle-class friends have moved elsewhere.

Albert is a brilliant young man ("the highest IQ in the school"), but his greatest desire is to be "one of the boys." He is small, skinny, and poor at sports. The other kids make fun of him because of his "rich" father.

Peeking out from behind his son’s story is the image of Dr. Abrams, a man who once was the star of his medical school class, but whose career long ago failed to "take off" because of his bluntness, bad-temper, and general difficulty getting along with other professionals.

Would be a nice gift paired with "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" book also listed here.

It's a one- of - a- kind FIND. If he doesn't find a new home, we'd be happy to keep him right here :-)

Measures approximately 5x4inches.

IT's a little rusty, weathered and worn but that just means it had a good life (and so did the horse who wore them)

Every home can use a little good LUCK....or if you have
a buddy doin somethin great- this would be nice in lieu of a card...I gave a gift with a horseshoe tied to the top. Even nicer if it's an antique or vintage book about polo or something sporty...

There you have it- a little (horse)shoe for you.
now go get lucky...

I believe they were purchased on a trip to Spain in the 1970's or 80's. I also believe they were custom made for the wife of a Chicago area physician, Dr Anderson. They are marked underneath MADE IN SPAIN and handpainted it reads
"GOOD FRIEND 31A".

The design looks to me like palm fronds. Very retro design and/or pattern. They are handmade and handpainted so they do have slight differences or imperfections but I would say they are 95% perfect.

See pictures for close ups and better detail.
This flag manufactured by Collegeville Flag & Mfg Co in Collegeville, PA and it's in PRISTINE condition. I believe it's been in a box for years.

This is truly a spectacular flag and one that would make a wonderful housewarming or wedding gift. I mean, really, I was married for 5 years before it dawned on me to have a flag. Shouldn't every grown up fly the red, white and blue if not everyday- for holidays or when it's the right thing to do? These also make a great piece of ART hung on the wall of your lake house in Wisconsin or in a boys room.

It is on the heavier side and measures approximately 1 1/4 inches in diameter.

Front of medal depicts a woman with laurel leaves and 2 rowing oars and a banner with the letters " CRC" Chicago Rowing Club, I imagine. Underneath it reads I B C (illinois beach club?). In the distance there is a building with a flag- could be chicago yacht club? Could be evanston? navy pier? Must be lake michigan, that I know for sure....

This would be cool on a chain or worn on a ribbon.

*****The creators, Dieges & Clust, founded in 1898, were renowned specialist gold & silversmiths. The company ceased trading in 1980 and their successor, Herff Jones, Inc., continue the Dieges & Clust tradition of premiere craftsmanship producing prestigious medals for the Olympic Games, Congressional Medal of Honor, the Heisman Trophy, the National Football League. Any questions, let me know.

It's engraved 1949, 3rd place. I believe it's gold filled but can't say for sure what the composition is. I've put a new jump ring on it to wear on this black and white stiched ribbon. Of course, it could also be put on a cord or chain.
The image looks like a greek goddess with wings and has laurel leaves as a border at the top. Any more questions, please let me know!

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo Volumes I and II

$16.95
Les Miserables written By Victor Hugo and published by Thomas Nelson and Sons. There is a signature inside the front cover that reads Dorothy Shinn. Unfortunately they are not dated but I am trying to research them and will update this if I have any info to add. Early 1900's for sure.
They measure nearly 6.5x 4.5x inches and are really lovely little books. Would make a great gift for an actor or actress? For someone who'd like to see Les Mis? Or if you are trying to fill a bookshelf or library with gorgeous red books....
I am selling the two as a pair- Volumes 1 and 2

A little bit more about Vic...
But Hugo’s first full-length novel would be the enormously successful Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), which was published in 1831 and quickly translated into other languages across Europe. One of the effects of the novel was to shame the City of Paris to undertake a restoration of the much-neglected Cathedral of Notre Dame, which was attracting thousands of tourists who had read the popular novel. The book also inspired a renewed appreciation for pre-renaissance buildings, which thereafter began to be actively preserved.

Hugo began planning a major novel about social misery and injustice as early as the 1830s, but it would take a full 17 years for Les Misérables, to be realized and finally published in 1862. The author was acutely aware of the quality of the novel and publication of the work went to the highest bidder. Installments of the book sold out within hours, and had enormous impact on French society. The critical establishment was generally hostile to the novel; Taine found it insincere, Barbey d'Aurevilly complained of its vulgarity, Flaubert found within it "neither truth nor greatness," the Goncourts lambasted its artificiality, and Baudelaire - despite giving favorable reviews in newspapers - castigated it in private as "tasteless and inept."

Nonetheless, Les Misérables proved popular enough with the masses that the issues it highlighted were soon on the agenda of the French National Assembly. Today the novel remains his most enduringly popular work. It is popular worldwide, has been adapted for cinema, television and stage shows.

Brown-Westhead Moore & Co. I believe this pattern is called Birds in Fauna.

This platter measures 14 x 11 inches.
It is in excellent condition considering it is over 100 years old. No chips or cracks- no crazing. See photos for more details... Some dealers would estimate the value of this at upwards of $250.

Vintage RUGBY Advertisement, C.1924

$41.75
This is from a French Publication, April 1924. This RUGBY Advertisement measures approximately 11x16 inches. It needs to be trimmed before being matted or framed but the piece itself is in great condition. It is in shades of black, white and grey. There is a signature at the bottom that is dated 1923 but I can't make out the name.

Growing up we had an Old English Sheepdog named RUGBY so I believe this is a special one! Would be so cool framed for a library, boy's bedroom or an office.
