This new pen is a perfect "in between" size. Smaller than the Classic American Style pens, but larger and easier to grip than the Slim Style pens. It is a double twist in that you can turn it to the right OR left to eject the tip. Turn it back to the center to retract the tip

African Blackwood is highly regarded by the makers of a variety of woodwind instruments, including clarinets, oboes, wooden flutes, bagpipes, and fifes, among others. The wood is also valued by woodturners, wood carvers, and fine furniture makers (in fact, the Ancient Egyptians are said to have used African Blackwood in their furniture building).

This beautiful wood features a striking contrast between shades of tans, browns and reds. The raw material is cut to size, holes are drilled length-wise and then the wood is shaped on a lathe. The pen is then protected with tung oil (2 coats) and then assembled with a gold cap, clip and fancy center band.

ABOUT AFRICAN BLACKWOOD
African Blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) is probably best known for its excellent tonal qualities, as well as its impressive strength and durability. The wood is particularly well suited for making woodwind musical instruments because of its ability to withstand changes in temperature and humidity. When a musician blows into a woodwind instrument, stresses are created that could potentially result in damage to the wood — especially at weaker spots, such as the keyholes. African Blackwood is resistant to these stresses, however, thanks to a combination of hardness, denseness, close grain, and natural oiliness. Because of these qualities, African Blackwood is highly regarded by the makers of a variety of woodwind instruments, including clarinets, oboes, wooden flutes, bagpipes, and fifes, among others. Pen handcrafted from a purple and yellow acrylic material called 'Groovy. A 'far out' mixture of 'bodacious' purple swirls with a'totally boss' yellow background. The raw product was a piece of acrylic that measure 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch by 6 inches. It was cut to the proper size and the shaped on a wood lathe. Once the shape was achieved, it was polished to a glossy sheen.
