For the full story on Chagami as well as detailed descriptions check out my blog link:
http://sumipapertennyoceres.blogspot.com/2009/06/all-about-chagami.html

The last image is a Chagami prototype with samples of popular writing, drawing, and painting media. I write with a heavy hand and am pleased to tell you Chagami is resistant to poking and tearing by sharp pencils points and pen nibs.

====================================================
About the Stationery Set:
You will receive ten (10) 5.9" x 8.5" [approximately 15cm x 22cm] sheets with five (5) 2.6" x 7" [6.6cm x 17.8cm] coordinating envelopes.
==Paper sheets are hand-trimmed to ensure a perfect fit for the uniquely sized hand-trimmed envelopes. Photo quality double-sided tape is used as envelope enclosure, so you'll never have to worry about the nasty envelope glue taste when you have to mail off a letter.
==The infused specialty tea that I used to create this batch is cranberry orange tea, with hints of cinnamon that remind me of fall
==The brown color range for each envelope and sheet vary from copper to ochre. Colors as seen on your screen may not accurately reflect the stationery set's true colors.

Great for:
==Personal Occasions - 'Miss you' to loved ones, 'Thank you' to co-workers, 'Hello' to good friends
==People - Mail happy relatives, college students (who need reminders to write home), Etsy addicts and you!

====================================================
There is more to shipping rates than just postage. I personally package my paper to guard against from water damage and slight bending before it is mailed to your destination in a durable flat mailer.

I can also create custom paper (up to 8.5"x11") to better match your personal style and artistic needs.
Warrior - Bushido - Original Japanese Calligraphy

$15.00
Warrior - 武 (ぶし pronounced “boo-she”)

The character bushi 武 is rarely seen alone. It's common to see it in the ever popular Bushido 武士道 （ぶしどう）, or the way of the warrior. Alone it can stand for protector. Before samurai got their namesake they were called bushi (武士), which roughly translates to "protector of the earth," since their first job was to protect farmers from robbers.

====================================================

For more information on shodou (書道 pronounced“sho-dough”) check out my blog post:
http://sumipapertennyoceres.blogspot.com/2009/06/brief-overview-of-japanese-calligraphy.html

====================================================
Media:
==Hanshi - Japanese rice paper commonly used for shodou. Measures approximately 10" x 13" (25.4cm x 33.02cm).
==Sumi - Charcoal stick that is ground into water to create ink for shodou and sumi-e. It takes up to 30 minutes to grind enough charcoal into the water to create the distinctive deep, rich black.
==Stamp pad specifically designed for hanko (a seal or chop).

Inspiration:
Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai. One weekend there was a marathon of Kurosawa movies on TV. It's amazing how many film directors take influence from this man.

Style:
Kaisho, or 'block style' is the most commonly seen style in Japanese calligraphy. Strokes are sharp and precise, and the characters are legible from any distance. It is considered essential to master Kaisho before moving on to the other four calligraphy styles.

Great for:
Places - Work out areas, high power offices, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People - Martial arts fans, samurai movie enthusiasts, and you!

====================================================
Like siblings, calligraphy may have the same features but in the end each piece is one-of-a-kind. As a result, the calligraphy you will receive is exclusively yours, and will be slightly different from what is pictured. I personally assure you that all of my work is made with tender love and care.

I personally package to protect my calligraphy from water damage and slight bending before it is mailed to your destination in a durable flat mailer. My calligraphy is not going to come with the awesome display frame you see in the last image. It's only for your reference and inspiration.

I can also create custom calligraphy with the words and styles of your choosing. Feel free to convo me and let's get started.

$15.00
Star (ほし pronounced “ho-she”)

Example: The phrase “When you wish upon a star.” - “Hoshi ni negai wo.” - 星に願いを

====================================================

For more information on shodou (書道 pronounced“sho-dough”) check out my blog post:
http://sumipapertennyoceres.blogspot.com/2009/06/brief-overview-of-japanese-calligraphy.html

====================================================

Media:
== Hanshi - Japanese rice paper commonly used for shodou. In the story, the other female lead Ranka Lee (Nakajima Megumi) sings a cover of this song. I prefer Sheryl's version for the syncopation and the breakdown in the last part of the song.

Style:
Sosho is so much fun. Other than a few basic rules of shape and proportion, this style lets you do whatever you want in writing.

Great for:
Places - Music halls, studios, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People – Aspiring actors, pop idols-to-be, and you!
====================================================

This item has been featured in:
--Limited edition softcover books for purchase (only 250 copies available):
http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/749675

--Etsy's front page!

--'Affordable Find' by Etsy seller RagamuffinDesign.
http://www.jesslyons.com/?p=645

--Handmade Highway's first Youtube video.
Art - Lotus Series v1 - 4 of 4 - Mixed Media on Plywood

$40.00
The lotus flower symbolizes many things in Asian cultures. Among them purity, enlightenment, divine power, knowledge, and peace.

Media:
==Upcycled plywood - Measures 6"x12" (approx. 12.2cm x 30.5cm). Saved from the scrap pile during a trip to my local home improvement store.
==Acrylic paint (heavy body) and watercolor
==Pre-filled sumi brush - Like a marker brush it has the consistent ink flow of a marker with the nimble behavior of a brush.
==Chiyogami (千代紙 pronounced 'chee-yo-gah-me') - Highly patterned paper used for origami, kirigami, and other Japanese paper crafts. The set I used was printed on recycled paper.
==Decoupage glue - Matte finish. Used to lay down the chiyogami petals and seal the finished flower design.

Inspiration:
While visiting the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco there were statues, paintings, and sculptures of Buddha on a lotus everywhere I went. With the subject matter finalized I then had to turn to color. Sure enough my 'Ah-ha!' moment came when I sliced some limes as I was cooking dinner. It all made sense now.

Please note the images on your screen may not truly reflect the colors of the actual art piece. As you can see from the 4th image, the finished artwork is signed, dated and numbered. If you wish to have additional pictures, please feel free to contact me.

Great for:
Places - Bedrooms, working areas, and any room that needs a little color and zen inspiration.
People – Cheerful coworkers, happy-go-lucky friends, and you!

This painting is part of a series based on the lotus flower. Among them purity, enlightenment, divine power, knowledge, and peace.

Media:
==Upcycled plywood - Measures 6"x12" (approx. 12.2cm x 30.5cm). Saved from the scrap pile during a trip to my local home improvement store.
==Acrylic paint - I used two kinds: Standard paint thickness and heavy body. Standard paint goes on flat to surfaces. If left to dry in chunks heavy body paint creates texture.

Measures approximately 10" x 13" (25.4cm x 33.02cm).

I live near the famous San Francisco International Airport. Not a day goes by without seeing jets, airplanes, and small aircraft zipping across the sky.

Style:
Kaisho, or 'block style' is the most commonly seen style in Japanese calligraphy. Strokes are sharp and precise, and the characters are legible from any distance. It is considered essential to master Kaisho before moving on to the other four forms.

Great for:
Places - Living rooms, creative spaces, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People - Jet setters, thrill seekers, pilots and you!

====================================================

Stationery - Pink Tea Paper Chagami Set

$10.00
'Chagami' is taken from two Japanese words:
Cha - 茶 - tea
Kami - 紙 - paper

====================================================
Chagami is my original tea-infused handmade paper.

====================================================
About the Stationery Set:
You will receive ten 5.9" x 8.5" [approximately 15cm x 22cm] sheets with five 2.6" x 7" [6.6cm x 17.8cm] coordinating envelopes.
==Paper sheets are hand-trimmed to ensure a perfect fit for the uniquely sized hand-trimmed envelopes. Photo quality double-sided tape is used as envelope enclosure, so you'll never have to worry about the nasty envelope glue taste when you have to mail off a letter.
==The infused specialty tea that I used to create this batch of paper is chrysanthemum tea, which adds an almost sweet floral perfume to the paper.
==The pink color range for each envelope and sheet vary from cotton candy to old rose. Colors as seen on your monitor may not accurately reflect the stationery set's true colors.

Great for:
==Personal Occasions - 'Miss you' to lovers abroad, 'Thank you' to co-workers, 'Hello' to good friends
==People - Mail happy relatives, college students (who need reminders to write home), Etsy addicts and you!

As seen in seiseki's "Kokerui" (moss) treasury:
http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=100562

====================================================
There is more to shipping rates than just postage. I personally package my paper to guard against from water damage and slight bending before it is mailed to your destination in a durable flat mailer.

I can also create custom paper (up to 8.5"x11") to better match your personal style and artistic needs.
Flower - Hana - Original Japanese Calligraphy

$15.00
Flower - 花 (はな pronounced “hah-nah”)

Hana is a wildly popular girl’s name in Japan. Hanako (“flower child”) may be a girl’s formal name, but her parents and relatives will likely call her Hana-chan (“cute little flower”).

====================================================

For more information on shodou (書道 pronounced“sho-dough”) check out my blog post:
http://sumipapertennyoceres.blogspot.com/2009/06/brief-overview-of-japanese-calligraphy.html

====================================================
Media:
==Hanshi - Japanese rice paper commonly used for shodou. Measures approximately 10" x 13" (25.4cm x 33.02cm).

Hana is one of those characters that never go out of style. While some characters are usually seen during certain times of the year, Hana is timeless. I find myself doing at least one Hana every season.

Style:
Reisho, or ‘clerical style.’ The second oldest known calligraphy style, Reisho is written slowly and with concentration to maximize a meditative session. In my opinion this is the equivalent of Blackletter or gothic script used by Christian monks that can be seen in medieval European art and paperwork.

Great for:
Places - Enclosed outdoor spaces, living spaces, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People - Japanese cultural enthusiasts, flower lovers and you!

====================================================

Art - Lotus Series v1 - 1 of 4 - Mixed Media on Plywood

==Acrylic paint - I used two kinds: Standard paint thickness and heavy body. Standard paint goes on flat to surfaces. If left to dry in chunks heavy body allows for texture.

This painting is part of an art series featuring the lotus flower. You can also purchase its siblings at my shop:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34774611
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35125794
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35842554

====================================================

I personally package to protect my artwork from water damage and slight bending before it is mailed to your destination in a durable flat mailer.

I can also create custom paper, artwork, and calligraphy with the words and styles of your choosing. During spring, it would be no surprise to see families and friends under blooming sakura drinking, singing, and celebrating the warm weather and beautiful little link petals falling from the sky. Cherry blossoms can represent beauty, love, and human mortality in Japanese culture.

====================================================

For more information on shodou (書道 pronounced“sho-dough”) check out my blog post:
http://sumipapertennyoceres.blogspot.com/2009/06/brief-overview-of-japanese-calligraphy.html

====================================================
Media:
==Hanshi - Japanese rice paper commonly used for shodou. You'll see it everywhere from neon lights to kitchen utensils. When summer rolls around people are already nostalgic for the powdery perfume and pink confetti of cherry blossoms just one season ago.

Style:
Kaisho, or 'block style' is the most commonly seen style in Japanese calligraphy. Strokes are sharp and precise, and the characters are legible from any distance. It is considered essential to master before moving on to the other four forms.

Great for:
Places - Enclosed outdoor spaces, girls' rooms, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People - Southern belles, Japanese cultural enthusiasts, kawaii (cute) addicts and you!

====================================================
Like siblings, calligraphy may have the same features but in the end each piece is one-of-a-kind. Measures approximately 10" x 13" (25.4cm x 33.02cm).
== Sumi - Charcoal stick that is ground into water to create ink for shodou and sumi-e.
== Stamp pad specifically designed for hanko (a seal or chop).

Inspiration:
My boyfriend plays Guitar Hero World Tour when he’s in the mood to rock out. One of the songs on the playlist is “Float On” by Modest Mouse. I liked the message that while things are bad right now, we’ll all float on (alright) to better days.

Style:
Gyosho is my favorite style. I can show a little expression and still recognize the character I am writing.

Great for:
Places - Working areas, studios, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People – Musicians, boaters, swimmers and you!

====================================================

I can also create custom calligraphy with the words and styles of your choosing. Feel free to convo me and let’s get started.
