About the Stationery Set:
You will receive ten (10) 5.9" x 8.5" [approximately 15cm x 22cm] sheets with five (5) 2.6" x 7" [6.6cm x 17.8cm] coordinating envelopes.
==Paper sheets are hand-trimmed to ensure a perfect fit for the uniquely sized hand-trimmed envelopes. Photo quality double-sided tape is used as envelope enclosure, so you'll never have to worry about the nasty envelope glue taste when you have to mail off a letter.
==The infused specialty tea that I used to create this batch is cranberry orange tea, with hints of cinnamon that remind me of fall
==The brown color range for each envelope and sheet vary from copper to ochre. Colors as seen on your screen may not accurately reflect the stationery set's true colors.

==The infused specialty tea that I used to create this batch is chrysanthemum tea, which adds an almost sweet floral note to this unique paper.
==Dried, pressed white Queen Anne’s Lace (otherwise known as posies) are randomly scattered throughout each sheet. It’s like stars just beginning to twinkle at sunset
==The pink color range for this set varies slightly from carnation to tea rose. The true color could differ from the pictures as seen on your monitor.

Warrior - 武 (ぶし pronounced “boo-she”)

The character bushi 武 is rarely seen alone. It's common to see it in the ever popular Bushido 武士道（ぶしどう）, or the way of the warrior. Alone it can stand for protector. Before samurai got their namesake they were called bushi (武士), which roughly translates to "protector of the earth," since their first job was to protect farmers from robbers.

Media:
==Hanshi - Japanese rice paper commonly used for shodou. Measures approximately 10" x 13" (25.4cm x 33.02cm).
==Sumi - Charcoal stick that is ground into water to create ink for shodou and sumi-e. It takes up to 30 minutes to grind enough charcoal into the water to create the distinctive deep, rich black.
==Stamp pad specifically designed for hanko (a seal or chop).

Inspiration:
Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai. One weekend there was a marathon of Kurosawa movies on TV. It's amazing how many film directors take influence from this man.

Style:
Kaisho, or 'block style' is the most commonly seen style in Japanese calligraphy. Strokes are sharp and precise, and the characters are legible from any distance. It is considered essential to master Kaisho before moving on to the other four calligraphy styles.

Great for:
Places - Work out areas, high power offices, and any room that needs a little zen inspiration.
People - Martial arts fans, samurai movie enthusiasts, and you!

A song that is frequently on my playlist, "What 'bout My Star?" by Sheryl Nome (voiced by May'n), which is featured in the animated series Macross Frontier. In the story, the other female lead Ranka Lee (Nakajima Megumi) sings a cover of this song. I prefer Sheryl's version for the syncopation and the breakdown in the last part of the song.

Style:
Sosho is so much fun. Other than a few basic rules of shape and proportion, this style lets you do whatever you want in writing.

It started with a small spiral to practice making enzo circles (aka 'zen circles') on a fresh sheet of blue-toned Chagami. Soon I started connecting the spiral to a small curl. After working in my garden this morning I couldn't help but think of a snail, inching along through life.

Art - Lotus Series v1 - 4 of 4 - Mixed Media on Plywood

The lotus flower symbolizes many things in Asian cultures. Among them purity, enlightenment, divine power, knowledge, and peace.

Media:
==Upcycled plywood - Measures 6"x12" (approx. 12.2cm x 30.5cm). Saved from the scrap pile during a trip to my local home improvement store.
==Acrylic paint (heavy body) and watercolor
==Pre-filled sumi brush - Like a marker brush it has the consistent ink flow of a marker with the nimble behavior of a brush.
==Chiyogami (千代紙 pronounced 'chee-yo-gah-me') - Highly patterned paper used for origami, kirigami, and other Japanese paper crafts. The set I used was printed on recycled paper.
==Decoupage glue - Matte finish. Used to lay down the chiyogami petals and seal the finished flower design.

Inspiration:
While visiting the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco there were statues, paintings, and sculptures of Buddha on a lotus everywhere I went. With the subject matter finalized I then had to turn to color. Sure enough my 'Ah-ha!' moment came when I sliced some limes as I was cooking dinner. It all made sense now.

Please note the images on your screen may not truly reflect the colors of the actual art piece. As you can see from the 4th image, the finished artwork is signed, dated and numbered. If you wish to have additional pictures, please feel free to contact me.

It started with a small spiral to practice making enzo circles (aka 'zen circles') on a fresh sheet of hanshi. Soon I started connecting the spiral to waves. The waves became clouds, and it seemed fitting to add a blazing sun. On the upper left corner is the Japanese character for sun, 日 (ひ pronounced like the pronoun “he”).

Inspiration:
It started with a small spiral to practice making enzo circles (aka 'zen circles') on a fresh sheet of hanshi. Soon I started connecting the spiral to waves. The waves became clouds, and it seemed fitting to add a crescent moon. On the upper right corner is the Japanese character for moon, 月 (つき pronounced “ts-ooh-key”).

The lotus flower symbolizes many things in Asian cultures. Among them purity, enlightenment, divine power, knowledge, and peace.

Media:
==Upcycled plywood - Measures 6"x12" (approx. 12.2cm x 30.5cm). Saved from the scrap pile during a trip to my local home improvement store.
==Acrylic paint - I used two kinds: Standard paint thickness and heavy body. Standard paint goes on flat to surfaces. If left to dry in chunks heavy body paint creates texture.
==Pre-filled sumi brush - Like a marker brush it has the consistent ink flow of a marker with the nimble behavior of a brush.
==Chiyogami (千代紙 pronounced 'chee-yo-gah-me') - Highly patterned paper used for origami, kirigami, and other Japanese paper crafts. The set I used was printed on recycled paper.
==Decoupage glue - Matte finish. Used to lay down the chiyogami petals and seal the finished flower design.

Inspiration:
While visiting the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco there were statues, paintings, and sculptures of Buddha on a lotus everywhere I went. With the subject matter finalized I then had to turn to color. Sure enough my 'Ah-ha!' moment came when I sliced some limes as I was cooking dinner. It all made sense now.

Hana is a wildly popular girl’s name in Japan. Hanako (“flower child”) may be a girl’s formal name, but her parents and relatives will likely call her Hana-chan (“cute little flower”).

In my opinion this is the equivalent of Blackletter or gothic script used by Christian monks that can be seen in medieval European art and paperwork.

I personally package to protect my calligraphy from water damage and slight bending before it is mailed to your destination in a durable flat mailer.
