I fell in love with this Hill Tribes silver elephant. I had an interesting cabochon of Crazy Lace agate and thought the colors would nicely accent the elephant. Then I found a couple of bone "tusks" to complete the elephant theme. The pendant is embroidered using tiny size 15 glass seed beads. It measures 3 inches wide by 7 inches long including the fringe. The necklace measures 16 inches in length and is comprised of white bamboo coral, tiger jasper, shell heshi and seed beads. Two Hill Tribe silver discs were added to draw the eye to the silver elephant. The clasp is sterling silver. This one of a kind original is backed with rust colored ultra suede and is signed by the artist.

A departure from my usual working with stone cabochons, this cameo just softened my style for a moment. Cream colored and gold finished seed beads surround this 30mm by 40mm acrylic cameo. Swarovski peach pearls adorn this pendant. The pendant measures 1 3/4 inches wide by 4 inches long including the bale and fringe. A 17 inch long spiral beaded rope suspends the piece. This is perhaps my most favorite piece I have created. It was featured in the April 2008 issue of Bead and Button magazine. The colors, the beauty of this 38mm round cabochon of crazy lace agate inspired this beautiful necklace. I used a Hill Tribes silver butterfly, glass cabochons, tiny seed beads and bugle beads to finish out this pendant. The pendant measures 3 3/4 inches in width by almost 7 inches in length including the fringe. It is backed with leather and signed by the artist. It is suspended by a 17 inch long spiral stitched rope and secured with an antiqued silver colored pewter clasp. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece, never to be duplicated.

When I was a child my favorite book was "Ring of Bright Water" by Gavin Maxwell. It was about a gentleman who rescued and raised otters. I still love otters to this day. This wonderful porcelain otter by Laura Mears was the inspiration for this piece. I surrounded him with bright glass cabochons and a variety of seed beads. The otter measures 3 1/4 inches in length by about 1 1/4 inches tall. This neck piece measures about 14 inches around. Many, many hours went into this neck piece. The large Sagenite cabochons were cut and polished by my grandparents in the 1960s. The swirls and curls inspired the design of this entirely hand bead embroidered neck piece. Faceted Czech glass beads are incorporated into the design. This piece started out with a rectangular cabochon of agate. It reminded me of a scene from the south western deserts. I added some bugle beads, dyed howlite cabochons, gold colored seed beads and a tiger eye cabochon and came up with a royal tribute to the southwest. I love Crazy Lace agate! Sometimes I end up buying an unusually shaped cab and then wonder for months how I am going to incorporate it into a design. One of my favorite stones is Biggs jasper. I see a landscape in almost every cabochon I see. This piece started out as a necklace but ended up as a bracelet cuff! Funny how things work out. I completed this piece one snowy day when the power was out and the tree limbs bowed low with snow. This incredible 43mm X 27mm Crazy Lace agate cabochon screamed SPRING! This piece won an Honorable Mention in the California State Fair. This one-of-a-kind original design and creation was inspired by the wonderful high county life I had for almost 20 years. I used very tiny glass seed beads, and each one was sewn in place. The three colors signify the changes of the seasons. The lime green is when the leaves first come out in the spring, the yellow is when the season is just beginning to change and the burnt orange is when fall is in full force, just before the leaves drop for the winter season. The neck piece is designed to depict the bark of the aspen tree. This piece took many, many hours to create. The central leaf is three seasons in one leaf, which measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches long. It is backed with ultra suede and signed by the artist. This piece will never be recreated, so rest assured you will have a true original award winner.

A trip to the coast resulted in quite a find in the shell department. I found many sand dollars but this one was just so perfect. It is hard to believe nature can create such a beautifully perfect shell. Although it is a shell, I also saw in it a touch of Native American spirit. The super hero Wonder Woman was created in the 1940s. Her powers included super strength, super speed, stamina and flight. She was proficient in hand-to-hand combat and had a natural rapport with animals. This beadweaver's challenge is my tribute to a super hero. One can't miss her blue shorts adorned with stars, her form-fitting top which accentuates her breasts nor her head-piece of red and gold. Idaho Plume Agate always reminds me of the thunder clouds over the Sierra and desert southwest. What a find it was to come across three cabochons of beautiful plume agate. I used white and gold delica seed beads to enclose these wonderful agates. Then my mind went to the idea that this could be a lovely necklace for a bride. I added the five Russian beaded leaves, suspended the piece from a supple beaded tubular cord and secured it with a hand beaded toggle clasp. California State Fair Second Place winner in the Beadwoven art class!

This Mucha inspired headpiece was patterned after a 1920's flapper style beaded cloche. Although this piece is not my usual style I took this on for the challenge. I used over 20,000 tiny glass seed beads on this piece which took over 70 hours to complete. The bead embroidery was done on tule over white satin to re-create the soft feel of the piece. Everything is hand finished and the entire piece is lined with satin. The headband measures 24 inches around.

When I first saw this brecciated jasper cabochon, it had so much depth, such rich deep colors. The dark green and deep brick red were gorgeous. I did a simple bezel of olive green Delica beads, 4mm round riverstone beads and finished it off with a twisted border. The pendant measures 2 1/2 inches by 2 inches and is suspended by 16 inch long necklace of brecciated jasper nuggets and a variety of sizes of riverstone beads. It is secured with a silver plated lobster claw clasp. The pendant is backed in leather and signed by the artist. This is a one-of-a-kind original.

This cabochon of Botswana agate looked like it opened up so I put a Hill Tribes silver butterfly emerging from the crack. Then I surrounded the cabochon and butterfly with glass seed beads of grays, blues and lavenders. Glass tear drop cabs add highlights to the piece.
