My Funny Valentine (coat)

$210.00
This coat popped out of my head as I listened to Elvis Costello croon 'My Funny Valentine'. Then I had to listen to Rufus Wainwright and then of course Ella. Thick red felted wool becomes a warm playful high waisted coat, the bodice and sleeves are lined with soft silky black poly, sprinkled with tiny red polka-dots. The hood is detachable, there is a backbelt, hand-stitched and held with two pewter buttons. 5 different pewter buttons close the bodice. There is room to wear a sweater underneath. This is a happy coat celebrating the joy of real love.
Bust: 36"-38"
Shoulder to Hem: 36"
I love her smart work with the Decemberist's as well as the cozy and beautiful contributions she makes on Charlie Haden's (her Dad's) CD, Ramblin' Boy. This little doggie came from listening to Petra sing, and from thinking about the duality of independence and family. She wears an elegant red glass bead necklace. She is hand stitched from a felted cashmere sweater. Stuffed with cashmere dryer lint from the felting process. Petra will help you feel much less homesick if you allow her to ride around in your pocket. So soft, so playful, so loyal, so smart, so intent!
3" x 4"
*****NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5 *****

Casual, to wear with jeans, the side seams unbutton, a small winged creature with golden antennae lites near the single hook and eye closure and the reverse is lightly specked mocha-colored cotton knit. Oh--a beaded pocket on the front for a short list or a listening device...perhaps to Puccini.
SIZE: Small to Medium
BUST: 32"to 34"
Length from Shoulder: 16 1/2 "
Machine wash gentle.
Hang to dry.
