This is a fun hair fork created out of maple. I was inspired by a whale surfacing for air and then slapping its magnificent tail fluke on the water as it dives down again.

The Fish Hair Fork has been sealed so that it is water resistant. You can wear this piece in damp hair.

It measures 4" long, with about 3 1/2" usable.

To use this hairstick, twist your hair into a bun, then insert the stick from the side, pointed at your scalp so you grab some scalp hair. Once you feel the stick scrape up some scalp hair, push it back out the other side. With a little practice, this will become one of your favorite hair toys.

Exotic Purpleheart Things That Go Bump hairstick

Here is a bump for you - well, six of them, to be exact! I had this idea for a hairstick after turning three bumps on the top of a different hairstick. Then I realized that multiple bumps on a hairstick would be great to hold slippery hair that is prone to escaping updos and buns.

The stick is made of exotic purpleheart wood. The piece of purpleheart is from fellow Etsian Ravenscroft: http://ravenscroft.etsy.com.

The stick is 7"/18 cm long overall, with 6"/15 cm of usable length.

I test every piece for strength, durability, and especially smoothness – your hair will remain soft and sleek. This piece is finished with locally produced beeswax. This does not render it waterproof, so use caution to wear the stick in dry hair only.

To use this hairstick, twist your hair into a bun, then insert the stick from the side, pointed at your scalp so you grab some scalp hair. Once you feel the stick scrape up some scalp hair, push it back out the other side. With a little practice, this will become one of your favorite hair toys.

Exotic Yellowheart Captive Ring Bump Stick

This gorgeous stick is one of the best sticks I've ever turned. The piece of yellowheart is from fellow Etsian Ravenscroft: http://ravenscroft.etsy.com. This wood turns so beautifully and sands down extremely smoothly. Even adding the captive ring was no problem!

This stick is all one piece of wood - no glue - and has a fun little captive ring in the topper. The five bumps on the body of the stick will help hold your hair snugly, without pulling. It has been finished with several coats of salad bowl sealer, a non-toxic waterproofing finisher. The stick is safe to wear in damp, but not dripping wet hair.

When you buy this stick you are purchasing a hand-carved birch hairstick and three custom beaded dangle decorations. See photos for an example of these beaded dangles. This listing is for a single turned hairstick. The top is made to look like a lollipop! I am not sure what kind of wood this is - I scrounged it out of a trash heap of tree trimmings. I turned it when it was very wet, so when it dried, it did not dry exactly straight.

This piece is finished with salad bowl sealer, a non-toxic waterproof varnish that enables you to wear it in damp, but not dripping wet hair.
