This indoor folding chair is handmade from solid Oak and woven with Danish Cord.

The cord is made from paper and this type is used in many Danish classic furniture pieces. More than 1500 ft. of cord is used, so it is a very time consuming chair to make.

The seat and back pivots around a wooden dowel making the chair easy to store and move.

No metal hardware or nails have been used.

The New Mahogany Safari Chair by Madshome

In the late 1800's to early 1900's, English Safari hunters used this style of chair when setting up camp on the African Savannah. The Army also found this chair useful because of the easy assembly and disassembly without tools. When disassembled, it would fit easily into a back-pack.

Now the chair has made it into our living-rooms, inhabiting more peaceful surroundings.

In the handmade Madshome version of the Safari chair, the frame is made from solid Mahogany and a high quality vinyl fabric is used for the seating which will look good inside and/or outside. Mahogany is a very strong hardwood and the fabric will not deteriorate or get moldy.

Red/orange (as in photos), Black and Kiwi Green colors are available, but we can provide other selections upon request - please ask us if we can get the color you desire.

Danish Modern Lounge Chair

This chair is estimated to be from the 1950's to 1960's. It was manufactured by the Johnson Chair Company in Chicago. We updated the chair with woven rope. The chair is in excellent vintage condition. The frame is made from mahogany and has been refinished. It is now the beautiful chair it was meant to be.
