This Brooch is made from the impression of a beautiful organic Eggplant leaf. The 'bumpy' side is the impression of the leafs veining as 'hairy' surface. The other side is done with canework in an impressionistic form that emulates the cellular structure as one might see if it was put under a microscope.

Beautifully finished with a textured lime green back and smooth black edging it has an attached hidden bail which the 18 1/2" cording runs through. The leaf measures about 3" and the necklace closes with an antiqued silver toggle clasp.

I have antiqued this to bring out the intriguing pattern. It is held in golden pen holder mounted on recycled and water stained wooden base.

Golden Embossed Leaf Lariat Necklace

I have taken these leaves from the final planting of edamame at the farm and impressed them into the golden metallic clay to form the ends of this lariat necklace. Notice the fine lace made by the insects during the growing season. I covered the backs with a copper metallic clay and then textured it to look like tooled leather.

The leaves are patinated to have a weathered bronze and copper look, as if they have been left out in the field. Both leaves are attached to a brass ball neck chain which can be worn many ways. Wrap around your wrist and twist the leaf under to secure, or around your neck with a over hand first step of a knot and wear lariat fashion.

This pin is done in the scrimshaw style, with a bezel in black, textured clay, Approx 1 3/4". It is buffed to a shine that resembles polished ivory and has the same touch if you've ever held a piece of whale scrimshaw.

Dill, used in making pickles, sprigs of it garnishing a fillet of salmon, dill, the undiscovered herb.

But it has many other uses, the seeds especially, for making tea that will help in indigestion, cramps, colds, among other things , not to mention to use on food as a salt substitute, as they are rich in minerals.

So what do you have left once you have stripped off the seeds? This very cool and alien looking spray of stems.

This is a OOAK, impressed fresh into the clay so no mold is used to repeat this. Also I have textured it with bubbles to look reminiscent of the dill seeds that were taken from it.

Don't you just love a play on words? Bee Leave, in the beauty of nature and the art of the smallest artists, like the insects that carved out the lace on this leaf.

A handsome piece, hefty in your hand, like a water washed river stone,yet light to carry. Measuring not quite 2" and fashioned with an interesting clip embedded into the solid piece. Hard to see by the photos, but the patina finish is in three different shades of green spectacularly highlighting the veins of the Edamame leaf close-up. Trimmed in black and textured on the back like volcanic stone. I have added a little silver plated bee to the leaf to highlight its organic status.

This piece is a bit of a rarity in that I gathered this leaf just before the sun was going down on Labor Day at the farm and impressed it into a prepared square of clay I had brought with me, right there at my table set in the grass next to the harvesting field.

A very handsome piece, great gift for the gentlemen, but ladies like these too!

Three bok choy leaves were carefully molded onto one sheet of chocolate clay and carefully placed over the UL listed plate.

Antiqued Copper Edamame Leaf Brooch

This pin has a special 'jewel' on it, that of the 'Edamame man', carved out from the molding of a edamame bean.Measures 2 1/2". He is smiling because he knows just how good edamame is and good for you!

Most people aren't familiar yet with Edamame. This is the name for soybean when in the green bean stage, before it is dried, and then it is called soy or soy bean.

On the organic farm the Japanese beetles love to dine and 'dance' on the leaves of the edamame, and carve out beautiful lace in various stages of delicacy. This is captured in every detail in the clay as can be seen on this leaf. They have a fascinating shape, flat on top and curved on the bottom. Please see the picture of them at work in the third photo.

Done in copper clay and finished in a copper green patina. Texture finished on back and signed by artist.

I have recorded by molding, many sizes and shapes of the Edemame leaves, so if you would like another size, or one made into a pendant or key chain, please let me know! Also these can be made into any color you desire, and can be metallic or matte.

Friendship Leaves Fossil Earrings and Necklace set

I found this cute little tropical plant (from South America) that had the most wonderful deeply textured leaves and couldn't resist. I knew I had to capture this great texture and 'fossilize' it for others to enjoy for years to come. The proper name of this plant is 'Pilea involucrata' but is more generally known as the 'Friendship Plant'. That is because it is fairly easy to propagate this tropical and share with a friend. (See picture 4)

But if you don't have a Pilea involucrata to pinch and share, this set would be the next best thing!

Made to imitate a fossil in slate the earrings are made from one leaf that has been split in two to echo the common name of the plant in sharing in friendship. The pendant is from a different leaf and is whole. The impression is deeply set and highlighted to bring it out more. The set is embellished with a brushed pewter look chain and ear wires. The Pendant chain is 19" in length and the earrings measure 1 1/2".

Great to gift yourself with or for that special earthy friend.

Ancient Metal Fish Fossil Necklace

Modern and Ancient look at the same time. This necklace was designed around this OOAK pendant the features a triangle of faux ancient patinated metal with impressions of fish fossils. This sits on a base of Copper with various sizes of bubbles. The 2" pendant is the centerpiece of the 20" asymmetrical necklace which is made up of black lava beads and handmade copper beads with bubbles to match the pendant inter-dispersed with genuine turquoise chips. On the opposite side are square cut turquoise and olivine, with black glass and copper bead spacers.

The nape of the necklace is done with turquoise chips and Copper beads and finished off with a custom coordinated magnetic clasp that is covered in copper clay and textures to match the bubble beads.

Different and Elegant.

Baby Bamboo Earrings

Have you seen those little pots of baby bamboo in your local florist or your supermarkets plant section? There's just something about those little green stalks, almost bonsai like since bamboo can grow to reach over 200 feet! and some can grow 24 or more inches in a DAY! No wonder it's the worlds fastest growing plant! That's over an inch per hour, something you could almost see growing. But These earrings are a bit over an inch themselves and thin and elegant.

Five beautiful and tiny Organic Herbs leaves make up this Evergreen Bouquet. Starting on the bottom left and moving counterclockwise, Anise, Sage, Oregano, Savory and Thyme at the top. Each leaf or cluster of leaves is carefully selected for imprinting and cannot be used again.

The Pendant is oval shaped and textured on the sides with a crackle impression and on the back there is an imprint of a million+ year old fossil. It measures 1 3/4".

Three layers of various surface treatments highlight these Asian style earrings. The base is a copper metallic clay that has been textured with a natural organic item and then highlighted in gold. The layers are Black, White and copper into which an Ivy stamp is impressed and then the clay stack is carefully shaved with a razor blade to bring out the various very thin layers. I use Odometer in the title because that is what this bar necklace reminds me of. Each bead moves independently, with one letter per bead, so no matter where it's moved it still proclaims the wearer 'Beautiful'!

Each bead is handformed and stamped for Turquoise clay. Antiqued and buffed to a satin shine. The beads are separated by beautiful bronzed glass beads and all are strung on a copper bar. This focal then is hung from a chain of square oval links joined with wider ones, it is a very vintage chain and has authentic patina. I can make it to fit you perfectly just let me know what size, 16", 18" or 20". Looks best as a choker that sits in the hollow of your neck.

Skeleton leaf make with Japanese beetle ravaged Edamame leaf shaped like an Oak leaf. Measures 18" on Black buna cord with brass findings. Olive Green with black antiquing and a bit of copper metallic, edged in black. Leaf measures 2".

If you have Oak trees you know that until a good snow or wind storm there are always a few that hang on deep into the winter. Long after the others have fallen to the ground and have been raked up and away, this one hangs in there, tenaciously, refusing to be thrown out like so much trash. Instead it waits, for that moment when it can fall to the ground, and be organically processed by the way nature intended, slowly melting into the soil and enriching it for the tree that it fell from, nourishing its very core with it's death, bringing life once more when Spring returns.

These leaves were picked by the top of the plant, they are very young, less than 2" but still are packed with wonderful texture. I have fashioned them in a leaf green clay and brought out the veining with purple paint. This variety is fairly rare, and sadly I didn't get a picture of them growing in the field to show you. But they were small and very dark purple fruits which looked wonderful against the deep sage green leaves with the purple fuzz.

They are suspended on bronzed ear wires to complete the earthy look. Very lightweight, and neutral enough to go with many outfits.

Baby Bok Choy Vertigris Ring

This ring is molded from the heart of a true organic baby bok choy. The full size of this fall cabbage was only about 9" total. This ring is taken from a mold I made from the very heart of the Bok Choy. The familiar leaf and rounded stem can easily be seen.

I have made this in "The Bronze Series", so it is chocolate colored clay baked and then patinated by a special process I have developed. It was then mounted on a square of green to fit just within the copper frame of the ring base. Both were patinated to bring out this beautiful bas relief of the bok choy. The ring is adjustable so can fit on a variety of ring sizes.

Morning Glory Pod Art Brooch

This piece was made from the mold of a morning glory seed head. I decided to make a cabochon from this and used a denim blue clay which reminds me of Wedge-wood's, Jasper ware if you are familiar with that.

It has been highlighted with white and I've bordered it with white marbleized clay that has been textured. I have not made this into anything yet, I decided I would let the one whom it speaks to, tell me what they would like to do with it, a brooch, a pendant, a key chain even, you decide.

It's funny and sometimes startling when you take a piece from nature and impress it into the clay, I've never seen anything quite like it before and I hope you agree. It measure 1 3/4" at present.

Polymer clay faux antique metal collage Brooch made in many parts. Measures almost 2". Three tiny dragonflies fly across a copper backed harvest moon.

Late in the afternoon/early evening out at the organic farm as I'm happily picking flowers the bees buzz and the birds twitter amongst the flowers and veggies and the dragonflies join in the dance, gliding over the fields and back again to the pond up on the hill.

As the moon rises you can see them silhouetted against the sky and it's magical and so peaceful you forget where you are at the moment.

That is my inspiration for this brooch. The 'moon' is made up of three pieces of faux antiqued metal with metallic patina of greens and blues and golds that the dragonflies flit across in a joyful dance. There are 10 golden beads that separate and join together the pieces. The moon sits on a copper background, that is framed out in Black.

Lovely on a blouse, scarf or hat.

Copper Crackle Edged each tile in this bracelet is hand formed from a mold taken from an ear of Organic Corn. Each kernel is hand-painted with metallic paints to emulate Indian corn with a bit of bling!

Easy to slip on the wrist, elasticized to fit wrist from 7-9" ( this is a thick cuff bracelet so lays about 1" up from the actual wrist).

Each tile is hand formed and taken from different parts of the ear of corn. Then they are framed in a rich copper metallic frame which is heavily textured with a crackled like texture and antiqued to bring out the pattern. Then buffed to a mellow shine. Golden bronze beads separate each tile.

Will go with all kinds of Fall and winter fashions sporting, metallic plum, gold, antique copper, bronze, emerald and sapphire and distressed for added interest.

Oregano Flower Tuscany Tile Pin

This is from my series of pieces using the flowers of the herbs. This one is from the delicate oregano plant. Most are familiar with oregano as a pizza or tomato sauce herb and seeing it already dried and crumbled not realizing that the leaves are very small. They are rounded as you can see here and when they reach maturity the stems are topped with these delicate tiny purple flowers.

I start with white clay and after baking I hand tint each leaf and flower with pastels then finish it with a high quality acrylic paint which gives it the patina of Tuscany. The flower has a magenta/purple hue and I have tried to match that here in subdued tones.

I love this soft springy green and although not an 'authentic' eggplant leaf color I can imagine maybe the new leaves starting out this lovely shade. I've always found it fascinating to watch the moon rise up when the sun is in the sky. These earring feature a custom blended sunset with an inlaid very thin piece of clay in the shape of a palm tree. A hand formed half moon is then placed on the surface as it stands out in the sky.

The sun disks are hung from elongated antiqued bronzed ear wires and measure a overall length of 3".

This beautiful necklace sports a large turquoise handmade nugget. It has been handcrafted with polymer clay, carefully formed, sanded, and buffed to look like Tibetan Turquoise. I wore a similar nugget in a necklace I made to a Jewelry show and at a booth where they had many turquoise necklaces, as I was admiring them the proprietors both told me how much they liked my turquoise. I then told them I made it and they had a hard time believing it, that's how real it looks!

This piece is strung on a bead bar with a white and gold crackled glass bead and a Murano like iridescent glass bead in blues and greens to highlight and compliment the nugget. The bead bar is then hung on a sensuously fluid gold mesh chain that measures 16" not including the pendant.

This necklace is made from a very popular cane I made back a few months ago titled,Impressionist Poppy Field . If you are familiar with Flickr you know that photos are rated there and this cane made it to the Explore list, http://www.flickr.com/photos/organicodysseys/3514890866/

This piece was made in the traditional cameo shape including a fluted bezel of green. The Cane is enhanced with the addition of other slices of canes to give it a 3-D look, as you can see in the close-up picture. It has also been sculpted and textured, sanded and buffed to a pleasing shine.

Then it has been strung through an invisible matching bale with multi-colored and textured cords and ribbons that take their cue from the colors in the pendant. Adjustable silver chain clasp to wear at just the length you want.

Tomato and Garlic brooch measures 2". An organic slice of tomato and a bulb of organic garlic were used to make this unusual ornament.

Purple Pearls and Eggplant Necklace

I just love making these different eggplant pieces, there is just something about the round glossy purple fruits that is so sensual to the eye and also to the touch. This little eggplant is paired with two purple freshwater pearls to enhance its royal stature.

The Eggplant itself is taken from a mold from a Story book Eggplant fruit ripe and in season. I have molded it in Purple clay and given the cap area a patina of green to highlight the delicateness of the leaves that hug the little fruit. It is sanded and then buffed to a beautiful shine, reminiscent of the actual plant it was molded from.

The Eggplant pendant measures only 1 3/4" and is suspended on a bronzed metal chain which measures 17" Just the right size to lay this little royal fruit at the cusp of your chest.

Maize Leaf and Kernel Abstract Vase

This vase is one of the largest pieces I've tried to date with the organics and using one of the biggest pieces of foliage from the farm.

The body of the vase is made, one side at a time where the clay is applied, alternating the two shades of green to resemble the corn leave top and bottom. It is then textured with a fresh picked Corn leaf, using different parts of the leave for variety. The seams are sealed with the main vein of the leaf.

The kernels of corn are carefully molded from a mold made straight from an ear of sweet corn ( which we only got two ears this year so they were very precious and I sure would have liked to have eaten this, but used part to make a mold instead). Then the clay is blended for color and molded and baked and shaped to form the little rows which are then applied to the raw clay leaves in an abstract pattern, to give the sense of the corn, but without being too corny.

The artist's emblem is applied in the lower corner and dated.

These greens go well with any flower, and will bring beauty to whatever you choose to place in there, from Florists bouquets, to a handful of wildflowers. There is a glass liner so it can be used to hold any flowers.

This is not a vase you will want to put away when the flowers are gone, it stands on its own as a wonderful, organic piece of art.

As this was a lengthy process I doubt I will be doing this again so consider it a one of a kind.

Because of the size, (3"X4" X 6"high)gift box is not available ,but it will be wrapped in tissue and tied with a raffia bow, ready for gift giving , if you can part with it!

Sweet Peas Copper Recycled Vase

Up cycled fruit jar, turned into this exquisite OOAK vase. Since the pea harvest was very sparse this past spring because of the weather, this is the only piece I got done, using a vine of three peas in the pods. There is also a branch of a black locust, trees that line the farm road on the way to Rodales.

The Vase is done in a black clay, and patinaed with a vertigris finish, then textured with copper metallic. A copper wire twist is tied around the neck of the vase with three vintage crackeld green pea shaped beads.

Very one of a kind, and so detailed you can see the little curly cues at the end of the vine.

Update!! This is one of two Nasturtium pieces I have left. These were from last years crop, they did not plant them at the farm this year so was not able to make any more pieces with the live plants. Hopefully next year, but if you don't want to wait or take the chance now's the time to add this to your art Jewelery collection!

Have you ever gone under the big leaves to see what's growing under there? I discovered there's a lot, especially with the Nasturtium plant. This pendant has the impression of a new shoot just starting out, growing under the shelter of its big brother leaves above. You can see the two teeny, tiny leaves around the two flower buds, just forming. I have added a larger leaf next to them to complete the picture. It is impressed on a tri-colored blend of clay and antiqued to bring the impression out. These colors as the same colors you will see in real live growing nasturtiums. See the picture of one of the plants I get these from!

The piece is sanded through many grits to make it as smooth as a polished stone. It is then buffed to bring out the luster without using any varnish that may deteriorate. This gives it a very nice tactile touch that will feel good against your skin.

This is 'unframed', no bezel on it, which gives it a fresh clean, edgy look I think, also no bail, just a simple bronzed jump ring directly through the piece. It is hung on a slide cotton cord to adjust to your liking. Let me know what size necklace you like to wear and I will make one just to fit you!

Measuring 2 1/4" this brooch shows in the finest detail the intricate veining of a Sage leaf. Know mostly for flavoring the Thanksgiving bird, this plant has long been known for medicinal properties as well as to help retard food spoilage. And it is such a beautiful plant too.

I have picked an imperfect leaf so as to emphasize the true natural organic state and to show it is not a rubber stamp, but from the real thing! The Fresh picked leaf was embedded into a green marbleized clay, then highlighted with black to bring out every little detail. It is framed with a textured leaf black frame and signed by the artist on the back.

Black and White Organic Tomato Bracelet

This bracelet is a study in the smaller versions of the love apple - tomato. I have used two different varieties, the Cherry and the plumb as well as three different caps to show the cool variety they possess as well.

Unlike most tomatoes, these are not red all over but black and white to highlight the wonderful impressions they make and to be more versatile in your jewelry wardrobe. Finished in many grades of sanding and polished to a natural shine. This is the Scrimshaw style finish.

Notice the one cap that printed out like a little man doing a side kick! And then there is one that looks like a hot pepper. The other shows the star quality they all have :)

Each bead is hand crafted separately and then strung together with red coral beads and jadite beads in two shades of green, reminiscent of the colors of tomatoes you will see growing on the vine. It is elasticized for easing on/off.

Golden Cantaloupe Hair Barrette

This barrette will swept your hair back in style. It can be worn casually or even with that little black dress to go out somewhere special. The light will gleam off of the polished surface to tantalize with the depth of the pattern. The pattern is actually formed by an impression taken from an Organic Cantaloupe skin. It is captured in what is called a 'mica shift' which means that the metallic particles in the clay are lined up to match the pattern of the stamp, in this case a mold of the cantaloupe skin. There is no texture though, it is entirely smooth, the pattern lying within the clay itself.

Gold metallic clay with a double twist of black to frame it. The barrette itself measures 3" and the art work on top measures a bit over 4". This one is given a protective layer but be careful not to hit it with hair spray or perfume, to keep it's nice shine.

bEautiful Globe Amaranth in 3-D. Handpainted and measuring approx 1 1/4" and is hung from a 18" silver chain.

I call this guy the 'Pollinator', as that is the job of the honey bee. They are so important to our survival, if it weren't for their pollination there would be hardly any of the foods we are so familiar with and dependent on.

This blossom is a Globe Amaranth, and it is very attractive to them as it resembles a giant clover and we're all familiar with Clover Honey, right?

Antiqued and hand tinted on the pendant, the Honey Bee is Silver Plated and busy at work on the purple blossom.

This pendant is unusual in it's shape as most of the Edamame leaves are more rounded. I happened upon this one when harvesting the plants this past summer. I made sure to make a mold of it since it was so different. I have done this in black and white clay to accent it's specialness. It has been framed with opposing colors to really set it off.

Comes with a organza multi-colored ribbon to tie at any length you like, but would be most stunning as a choker length. You can also thread a thin silver chain through the hidden bail in the back if you prefer.

Organic vegetables, and herbs make up this unusual brooch. The Leaf Measures approx 2" and is a resting place for the Flying Edamame Bug .

You've never heard of a flying Edamame Corn Bug? They are very elusive. Even on the organic farm where the insects and butterfly's, bees and birds are offered a free lunch with no fear of it being their last, this little guy is always shy and you may never catch a fleeting glimpse of him.

I just happened to spot him one day, quite by accident, it was only for a moment, so quick sometimes I think it just might have been my imagination, but from memory I have tried to recreate him for you, so that you won't have to go a whole lifetime never seeing one.

His body is shaped and colored like a row of corn on the cob, his wings, are very fairy like and resemble sage leaves, and his head looks very much like an edamame bean, which is why I have place him on his favorite leaf, an edamame, or soy leaf.

The leaf is trimmed in gold to match the back which is finished with a covered pin and signed by the artist.

I have to tell you, and this is no lie, my husband just loves this little guy, I can't figure out why, but who wouldn't love this fellow?

Tuscan Tile Herb Bouquet Bracelet

This bracelet is made from five separate tiles with different herb flowers. The flowers of the herbs are barely noticeable, very tiny and only appear when the plant is going to seed, but they are a beautiful work of art in their own right.

Here showcased in this bracelet are:

Coriander
Oregano
Summer Savory

Each tile is made individually, by impressing the herb flower into the clay. The piece is then baked and turned into a three layer tile. After baking again a frame is formed around each tile and textures to look like Mediterranean stucco. Each flower is then stained and then hand tinted with artists pastels. Then each is varnished to protect the artwork.

Will fit 7-8" wrist.

I love the flowers of the herbs, they are diminutive in relationship to the leaves which most use for flavoring, but the flowers are beautiful in their own right. The dill plant is used entirety, both the leafs for fresh flavoring and the dried seeds that come from the flowers are used in brine's and pickling spices.

This brooch has the impressing of a flower head just emerging from the side of the dill stalk. It is done in the style of a Tuscan tile, framed in a textured frame. It is carefully hand tinted and antiqued, then covered with a strong acrylic coating to protect the painting.

It measures 1 3/8 x 1 1/8" and is signed and dated on the back by the artist.

Yet another Edamame Leaf, and this too is not the same leaf. There is only the start of lace making on the leaves where I have strategically placed the golden ladybugs to show, even though it was their friends the Japanese beetles who did this bit of artistic work.

It is made from a bronzed clay and framed in lime green. The back is finished in a sage textured green and stamped with the artists logo.

Would look fabulous as shown on a turquoise blouse as I have used that color to enhance the veining structure of the leaf. Also would look great on a beret, a purse, briefcase, you name it!

This is a vegan version of Alligator skin. Have you ever noticed the skin of a cantaloupe? The deep netting, the irregular pattern? I have and have taken some of the cantaloupes we got from the farm this summer and made molds from them. This is an impression from one of those molds done in white clay and then hand tinted with artist pastels.
