Celine, is the third in my new series of handmade mixed media dolls.
Embroidered face and details.
These dolls are entirely made by me, I use the needle on my sewing machine to 'draw' the faces with thread and everyting is done by me, by hand, stuffing, beading etc.
She has text from an old novel incorporated into her design, and she wears her lovely delicate porcelain romantic heart clearly for all to see.

She has a fragile look in her eyes as though she hides a secret.

Celine is a very slender doll with arms and legs that are moveable so she may stand or sit supported.
She has hand stitched running stitch for hair, and her arms are beaded and bead jointed, with beautiful faceted beads for decoration.
Measuring:33x8cm approx.

Her message reads:
“Who was dear to my heart…
I should make no words about the matter”

She is rather a collectors piece or ornament.

He’s 28cm from tip of ears to tip of toes and with a span of 14cm approx. and gives off some amazing energy!
He’s packet with power perhaps due to being created during the summer solstice.
So if you want to attract a little exciting wild spirit into your life....he's your guy!
These dolls are entirely made by me, everyting is done by me, by hand, stuffing, beading etc.
He’s made with hand dyed and natural cotton with a little splash of patterned cotton added to the mix.
I made this lovely shade of pale green using organic materials and some synthetic fix a year or so ago.
I wrote down the mix but I lost it when I moved! Now I’m down to my last small piece.
Forest Spirit is a totem, an amulet, and a connection to the wild wood, he’s special.
Forest Spirit is not suitable for children, he’s rather a collectors doll/sculpture.

This little creature is a friend of Forest Spirit only mellower!
28x15cm approx. with that same lovely shade of hand dyed green, (I’m kicking myself over, ‘cos I can’t re-make it)
He’s beaded and lovingly stitched.
Mana meaning the 'concept of an special force or quality that resides in people, animals, and inanimate objects' Well this little creature has it.
These figures have a touch of the dark woods, the playfulness of the faery ring and the wild spirit of nature upon them.
I’m sure they have a story to tell.

Due to the small beads etc. Mana Love is not suitable for children, but rather a collectors doll.

One Poetry art doll - Lovelorn

A delightful poetry doll by the name of Lovelorn.
This first photo shows Lovelorn with some of his friends, but ONLY Lovelorn is available in this listing.
Lovelorn is the doll in the last photo with the green body and rose.

His little green jacket (actually part of his body) has the first verse of my poem 'The Incantation' machine embroidered on it, punctuated with beads.
Made from 5 different fabric designs, including a hand dyed piece, Lovelorn is lovely and subtle in colouring.
He has slightly bemused expression....when you read the whole poem you'll see why!

I gave my love a rose
with petals oh so red
with leaves so green
and stem so lean
to place upon his bed......

He makes me smile, I hope he makes you smile too.

Measuring: 33x12cm approx.(that's 12cm at the widest part)
In inches: 13x4in approx.
He is one of my larger dolls.

The whole poem comes with him, in a nice sturdy box, hand written and signed, Lovelorn is a lovely addition to any doll collection.

This handmade pendant is in a crushed raspberry silk fabric, with hand and machine embroidery.
Accented with gun metal seed beads and backed with the same fabric.
It has an applique heart with rosebud french knots and metalic thread kisses.
The whole thing is slightly padded and there are lovely textural elements in this fabric due to the natural knots and bobbles in its weave.

It has a bar at the top through with it may be hung on ribbon, cord or even a silver chain, the choice is yours!

Winged Guardian

Warrior Angels or Winged Guardians?

Following on from my fascination with Angels, I have made a group of winged beings, that I feel are like warrior angels and guardians.
They started as an exploration with a new technique and as always with these things, inspiration just flowed and here they are!
I was tempted to give them names but I think that should be the privilege of the person that each one belongs too.

Lavishly hand beaded with striking features machine and hand embroidered without the shield of my other dolls and with an elaborate head-dress, this figure looks dramatic standing on a shelf or just as easily, could be hung on a door as a door guardian.
These dolls are entirely made by me, I use the needle on my sewing machine to 'draw' the faces with thread and everyting is done by me, by hand, stuffing, beading etc.

Lavishly hand beaded with striking features machine and hand embroidered and with an elaborate head-dress, this guardian has a beautiful calm expression, a girdle of silver colored beads and a heart of mother of pearl.
Measures:28x14cm (width is from tips of hands)
Made from cotton with a non allergic filler, the backing is a pretty patterned cotton also.

This guardian comes with a little handmade tag so that you know it's an authentic 7thMagpie creation!

Textile Art Brooch - Portraits of the three graces - No 2 Thalia

Listed here is the second brooch of my 'Three Graces Series'
They were called the joyful ones, the charities, the goddesses of feasts & dance.
They were said to be the ever youthful companions and attendants to the goddess Aphrodite.

This one is Thalia, meaning: She who brings flowers, plenty, luxury and abundance.

She is beautifully detailed and lavishly stitched.
I draw the faces using the sewing needle as a pencil, this takes a lot of skill and patience, in an effort to creat a unique expression for each portrait.

These little ladies are quite small but pack a lot of drama!
Measuring only 6.5x4.cm approx.
Measurment not including the hanging beads.

Each brooch has a pin back fastner on the back.
Alternatively each may be framed for maximum impact!
The second photo shows one of the sold graces as a work in progress and another in a small box frame, this is just to give you an idea of size and show you how they may look.

Volentina, is inspired by my handmade mixed media dolls.
Embroidered face and details, she has lovely ‘leg o’ mutton’ arms in the style of the old Victorian dolls.
These dolls are entirely made by me, I use the needle on my sewing machine to 'draw' the faces with thread and everyting is done by me, by hand, stuffing, beading etc.
Romantic and clearly in love, Volentina wears her heart clearly for all to see.

I hope I've managed to illustrate in each queen, the expressions that suit each suit :)

Lulu is only 22cm tall but what she lacks in height she makes up for in character.
Her shape is very satisfying to hold in the hand and she looks lovely in her silk skirt, which is removable and ties at the waist.

Original poem - Textile hanging

This is my original poem 'Wave the Wave' stitched on to linen and made into a handmade patchwork hanging.
Measuring: 12.5x32.5cm approx.
I have hand stitched and pleated the patchwork from the lovely scraps in my fabric box, including hand dyed cotton.
The poem has been punctuated with seed beads to add interest.
There are little seperate circular decorations stitched at top and bottom, that have lovely decorative beads in their centers (hard to see in these photos) both are hand beaded around the edges for extra interest and texture.

The poem is:

'I wish I was
so far away
on some far distant shore.
I'd cast my troubles
in the deep, deep sea
and be troubled by troubles no more.
Oh just to sit
and watch each wave
and wave
each wave...
adieu'

Very neat and carefully made, hangs beautifully, backed with a pretty patterned cotton with a little cord for hanging.
