This all-cotton soft hat is in a lovely sunshine yellow with contrast trims in red and orange. It's so soft and comfy and stretches to fit so won't cause baby any stress when it's put on or taken off.

I designed this pixie hat shape from memories of a storybook about the circus that I had as a small child - it looks a bit like a big top tent! Starry Pointy Curly All-Cotton Cap Cloche Ski Hat

When Cheese at Fourpence was a twinkle in my eye, and I was fresh outta design college, I had a stall at the infamous Camden Lock Market. I tried out many of my new design ideas there and I had a great time. It's now 21 years since those days and to celebrate I've decided to resurrect some of my favourite designs from back then.

This pointy hat design adorned the head of many a Camden trendy and indie popstar (Smashing Pumpkins, anyone?)and I figured it's time to bring it back!

Knitted in all-cotton yarns, this is embellished with three handknitted curlicues on the tip. The 'pointy' part has ridges knitted in to separate out each panel and it's handsewn on to the stretchy band. The hatband itself is double-thinckness for stability, and as it's all cotton, it's super-comfy and easy-care.

This hat is sized to fit an adult or older child's head, but please check the measurements below as there's no such thing as an 'average' sized head.

If this colourscheme doesn't float your boat or you need a different size. please just convo me as I love doing custom orders. This can be made in a size to fit 1 - 3 years too.

Hot mustard to go - ochre cotton large size knit pixie hat

A bit of tangy mustard to warm up the winter days...

Handmade on my home knitting machine, with separately hand-applied triangle decorations, this design was inspired by a childhood story of a circus - but it's grown up a lot since then.

This pixie number is handmade from pure soft cotton, so it's not itchy, it's vegan and it stretches and washes really well. The main colour's a warm mustard with contrasts in brick red and deep purple.

The triangle embellishments are added on by hand individually and finished off with a cross stitch.

It should fit most heads from a 3 year old up - it's shown on a model aged 5 but also fits me and I'm a lot older than that! The orange pixie pic shows well how the pixies look on - this is on an 11 year old model.

Spotty trousers for a dotty girl

Cosy cotton knit trousers that make a big statement!

White polka dots on a tulip-pink background edge these navy/denim blue marled comfy pants. They're an easy-wear, stretchy, flared shape with an elasticated waist, for the independent girl who likes to pick out her own outfits, thankyou very much....

Great as either full-length trousers or as crops - so they'll last a growing girl a while. All-cotton means they don't itch or aggravate allergies and are soft, light and warm. They can be washed by hand or on a cool machine wash, and are tough enough to stand up to any prairie-girl adventures.

A generous hem edges the bottom of the trousers, to add to the flare. The main body of the trousers is two ends of cotton: one navy, one denim blue, knitted together to create the 'denim marl' effect. I hand make these on my home knitting machine and then hand sew them.

My model is a tall 5-year old; please check exact measurements as no child is 'average'. As a guide, these trousers should fit 4-5 years. Other sizes and/or colourschemes are available, so please convo me and I'll do my best to oblige!

Knitty Stripey Toddly Legs

Get some crazy toddling legs going on!

My all-time bestselling design, these stripey trousers are loved by kids and mums alike. As you can see from my model, they make you feel like dancing!

Hand made by me on my home knitting machine, then hand sewn-up and finished, these all-cotton trousers are so much fun and totally non-itchy.

This pair of cotton stripey strides are made to fit roughly 6 - 12 months, but please check the exact sizes below as there's no such thing as an 'average' sized child. This colourscheme is black, plum, clover and pale pale mint, so quite sophisticated and lovely for winter.

They have a hemmed elasticated waist and are easy to pull on, so our little ones who are learning to get dressed seem to find these hilarious to put on and take off. They have a flared shape so fit well over boots, and look good as crops in the summer too, so will last more than a season. (I knot the elastic at the waist inside the hem then leave a length before I sew it in, so it's simple to open up the back seam a little and let the elastic out a bit if someone's grown a lot).

I have made a picot hem to edge them and finished them with two i-cord decorative ties at the top (they don't actually pull anything in much, so inquisitive fingers can't hurt themselves.)

I've made these in a host of sizes and colours over the years, so please just convo me if you have a request, it will be do-able, I can almost guarantee! (Unless you are 6ft 5" and need some of these, then we'll have to have a serious chat.....)

For a little star, here's a royal blue hat fit for a king.

Made of soft cotton and handmade by me on my home knitting machine, this little pull-on hat is trimmed with fluffy baby-soft microfibre at the hem, to keep little ears warm and cosy. To finish, a glittery blue twinkling star sits in the middle to attract oohs and aahs from passers-by!

The hat has a drawstring at the top to pull in for warmth, and the strings are i-cord knitted, to tie in a bow at the back.

The Birds Trampled the Leaves Fine Cotton Knit Scarf for Autumn Supersoft OOAK

This is a new line for Cheese at Fourpence and I'm very excited to show off the first fine knit scarf!! Perfect for the cooling days, this soft cotton will keep you snug without making you too hot.

One day I came home to find a perfect trail of birds feet prints through my snow-covered patio table and I've been thinking about those birds' adventures ever since. I just knew they would have to crop up on my designs and here they are... walking through a trail of knitted-on triangle embellishments that fall down each end of the scarf like autumn leaves.

This scarf is knitted from very fine supersoft pure cotton in tones of autumn - rich maroon, deep chocolate and warm ochre. Ten broad stripes alternate through the length of the scarf and it's doubled over and securely hemmed so it lies nice and flat.

It's good and long so you can wear it in a huge number of ways - tie it, loop it, wind it round and round or leave it long like Dr Who. (He had to be in there somewhere....)

Birds' feet are hand-embroidered on and the triangle decorations are knitted on one by one and sewn down.

All scarves are one of a kind, so you are buying a unique piece of work.

I'm planning many more birds' adventures items coming, as well as some fun stripey scarves so watch this space and please feel free to convo me if you have any requests for colours etc, as I love doing custom orders.

Fresh Spring Coral Cotton Newborn Pixie Hat

Here's another all-cotton newborn pixie hat, fresh off the needles and ready to soothe and warm the head of any newly-arrived pixie....

This version is a delicate spring-fresh shade of coral, and is trimmed with cream and soft duck-egg blue. It reminds me of my seaside roots, so it's one of my absolute favourite colour combinations.

I knitted the hat on my home knitting machine and then added the trims separately by hand afterwards. The hat has been carefully hand sewn and can be cool-machine washed as well as hand-washed. It's all soft cotton so won't cause any allergies, and is stretchy enough to go on and off baby's head easily, so no risk of fuss! The brim is gently roled and stitched down and the tassel at the top has strands of all three colours.

Now I've heard, from a few sources, that yellow is The New Black for 2009. Never let it be said that Cheese at Fourpence is slow off the mark, so here's a cheerful adult-sized all-cotton pixie hat in that gorgeous hue, fresh off the needles and ready for action.......

This hat has contrast cotton triangles in bright leaf green and shocking fuchsia, for a tropical flavour. I knitted the hat on my home knitting machine and then added the trims separately by hand afterwards. The hat has been carefully hand sewn and can be cool-machine washed as well as hand-washed. Here's another pixie for toddlers in need of serious head adornment...

A down-home country-style cotton knit hat to while away your days on the farm (or, if you're a city dweller like me, on the allotment.. And I've only even managed to grow potatoes, hence the name...)

Inspired by watching Little House on the Prairie as a kid, this hat is adorned with patches, picot hole trim, an i-cord piping around the hem and a jaunty topknot.

It's made from really soft, pure cotton yarns, in a bright jade-turquoise main hue with contrasts in toning shades of blues and greens. It's a Cheese at Fourpence one of a kind and is handmade by me on my home knitting machine. All the patchy doodads are knit on separately and hand sewn to finish. It's hand or machine cool washable.

This hat will fit an older child or small-headed adult - see measurements below for exact sizing. My model is 11, to give you an idea.

Bring a bit of winter sunshine to your new little sunshine! - this all cotton hat is baby-soft and in a neutral colourscheme, perfect for almost-arrived, or newly-arrived baby boys or girls....

This is a size newborn to roughly 6 months, though please check measurements as there is no such thing as an 'average' sized baby! This hat is handmade by me on my home knitting machine and then carefully hand finished.

I designed my now-bestselling pixie hat shape from memories of a storybook about the circus that I had as a small child - it looks a bit like a big top tent! Since then I've made these in lots of colours and sizes, so if there's a colour you'd like please ask, I probably have your desired colour in my scarily huge yarn stash...

The model in my photo is wearing a 1 - 3 years size of the same type of hat, which should give you a good idea of how cute they look on.

Autumn Spices Cotton Knit Panel Beret OOAK

Here's a grown-up size funky cotton panelled beret with a star-spangled soft stretchy band to keep it safely atop your head on windy days.

Made from supersoft all cotton yarns, this beret has twelve separately knitted panels of lively contrast, in mole brown, warm purple, cherry red and spicy pumpkin orange. Each panel is separated by a black knit ridge, to highlight the colour contrast further.

The band is double-thickness for warmth and durability and features cream stars with purple centres. There's a piping trim of palest pistachio and navy to set off the whole look.

This is the only beret I've made in these colours and I think they work really well together. It's hand-made by me on my home knitting machine, piece by piece, then hand-sewn together carefully before getting lightly pressed.

My workshop is smoke-and pet-free (apart from a tortoise, but he's not very interetsed in knitting, really.)

Sized for an adult head, please check measurements below. Custom sizes and/or colourways always welcome, I love putting colours together for these, it's lots of fun.
