Monogram - fused dichroic glass bolo tie

$28.00
The rectangular cabochon for this bolo tie measures 2.9 cm long x 2.4 cm wide. It was created by arranging pieces of fettuccini-like rods of blue-green dichroic glass on top of a blue opaque glass, then capping it with clear glass. The piece was fired at a full-fuse temperature (1450 degrees) in a kiln and then cooled. The edges were squared up using a grinder, and then it was given a final fire-polish.

A silver-colored bolo tie clip was attached using industrial-strength adhesive. The black 'pleather' woven cord was then attached and finished with two gold-colored bullet-shaped tips. The entire tie measures 46 cm from the top of the cord loop to the tips.

The pattern created by the dichroic glass suggests the letter G, or perhaps E. If you're shopping for a unique gift for your husband George or your uncle Edward, this will surely fit the bill!

Crossbars - fused dichroic glass bolo tie

It was created by piling up three layers of clear and black patterned dichroic glass and fusing them together in a kiln at high temperatures (near 1500 degrees). The contrasting dichroic glass patterns create an almost holographic effect of depth and luminous colors.

A silver-colored bolo tie clip was attached using industrial-strength adhesive. The 'pleather' woven tie cord is finished with two silver bullet-shaped tips. The entire tie measures 45 cm from the top loop to the metal tips.

Many men find bolo ties more comfortable and fun to wear than conventional ties. This would be a great gifts for the man in your life who isn't afraid to be a little different than the rest and stand out from the crowd.

So Pale Green - fused glass post earrings

$18.00
These button post earrings measure 2.1 cm square, definitely a size that makes a statement! The pale green stripes over a white background suggest a peaceful spring landscape.

These were created by layering squares of clear glass over squares of green patterned opaque glass. They were fired in a kiln at a full-fuse temperature of 1450 degrees, and after cooling the edges were squared up using a grinder. A final fire-polish brings out the luster and subtle pattern of the bottom layer of the glass.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. Because of their larger size, larger plastic/metal earring backs have been substituted for the standard smaller, all-metal ones.

The subtle color combined with a larger size of these earrings makes them perfect for casual or office/business outfits. The unique pattern of the glass makes them a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art.

River's Gold - fused dichroic glass post earrings

$15.00
These fused glass post earrings really make a statement with their bold, glittery sparkle and slightly larger size; the cabochons are oblong in shape and measure 2 cm x 1.5 cm. (One needs to be careful in making fused glass cabochons of larger sizes; as they get larger, they get heavier due to the thickness of the glass. This size strikes a good balance between style and substance.)

To make them, I cut pieces of black dichroic glass with a green/gold pattern and layered them over similarly-cut pieces of opaque blue glass. When the pieces were fused together in the kiln at a high temperature (near 1500 degrees), the top layer of glass melted into the bottom one, creating the rim of blue around the gold. The picture above was taken in natural light, which shows the dominant gold color of the dichroic glass; with indoor lighting, the underlying green/blue tones of the piece become more noticeable.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted large plastic/metal earring backs for the smaller standard ones.

These would be a great complement to your holiday or cocktail party dress. Enjoy!

Orange Crush - fused dichroic glass post earrings

They were created by layering cut pieces of orange transparent glass over clear silver dichroic glass. After fusing the pieces together in a kiln at temperatures near 1500 degrees, they were allowed to cool. Their shape was then perfected using a grinder, and the cabochons were then fire-polished to give them their sparkly luster.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted larger plastic/metal earring backs for the standard smaller, all-metal ones.

Not everyone can wear orange and pull it off, but if you're one of those who can, you know how hard it is to find accessories that go with your wardrobe. I named these "Orange Crush" because that's what they make me think of - fizzy orange fun! Hope you enjoy them!

Pink Nouveau - fused dichroic glass post earrings

$15.00
These fused glass post earrings are nearly square, measuring 1.5 cm long x 1.4 cm wide. They were created by layering black dichroic and clear dichroic glasses, leaving the clear dichroic's pattern of deep salmon pink and yellow/green exposed directly to the light. The pieces were fused together in a kiln at 1450 degrees, mingling the glasses and giving the pieces a sense of depth by revealing the lower layer's dichroic colors (blue with hints of silver) beneath that of the top layer. After cooling, they were shaped with a grinder and given a final fire polish.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive, with standard gold-filled earring backs used to complete them.

I love working with dichroic glass, since it yields endless variations of color and depth when different combinations fuse together in the kiln. These one-of-a-kind earrings, with their unique colors and sheen, can provide the same sort of alchemy when matched with your wardrobe, making statements like "holiday party", "summer vacation", "spring wedding", "cocktails with George", or whatever strikes your fancy.

First Impressions - fused dichroic glass post earrings

$15.00
These one-of-a-kind post earrings measure 1.5 cm square. Sunny gold and deep burnt orange colors dominate amidst the luminosity of the dichroic effect. These pieces were created by layering colored opaque glass over clear dichroic glass, with small spaghetti strand-like pieces of glass (called "stringer") in between. The initial kiln firing at 1450 degrees caused the stringer to melt into the dichroic coating of the layer beneath it, causing the raised or embossed look of the design. After cooling, the pieces were shaped with a grinder, turned over to expose the dichroic/stringer design, and then fire-polished.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached with industrial-strength adhesive, and I substituted larger plastic/metal earring backs for smaller all-metal ones.

I love to experiment with different kilnforming techniques, and events in the kiln often determine the direction of each piece's design. To me, the stringer patterns in these earrings seem like an abstract suggestion of Chinese or Japanese characters, and they might go nicely with a sarong or Chinese silk jacket or skirt. Use your imagination and see what they suggest to you.

They were created by layering pieces of transparent yellow and brown patterned art glass over opaque white glass and fusing them together in a kiln at temperatures near 1500 degrees. After they cooled, I perfected their shape using a grinder and then gave them a final fire polish.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted larger, more solid plastic/metal earrings backs for smaller all-metal ones.

The asymmetrical design on these button earrings is due to the shifting pattern of the transparent source glass and events in the kiln, adding to their uniqueness. All you "autumns" and "springs" out there - these would be a great addition to your casual wardrobe. Or, they'd make a great gift!

Golden yellow and burnt orange colors dominate amid the luminous dichroic combinations, with streaks of bright green showing beneath dark brown smoky swirls. They measure 1.2 cm in diameter.

The buttons were created by layering clear and dichroic glasses and fusing them together in a kiln at temperatures near 1500 degrees. At these high temperatures, the glasses mingle together and form a perfectly round bead.

Gold-filled post earring findings were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted larger plastic/metal earring backs for the cheaper, smaller metal ones.

These beautiful earrings will complement any outfit in autumn colors or earth tones, such as brown, orange, and yellow. Gold, green, and a deep salmon orange dominate, with hints of cobalt blue around the edges. The glass buttons measure 2 cm in diameter - and a solid 0.7 cm in thickness, which gives them their luminous and prismatic character.

Three layers of art glass (two with dichroic coatings and patterns, one clear) were combined and fused together in a kiln at temperatures near 1500 degrees to create a commingling of the glass patterns, resulting in beautifully rounded glass nuggets. The silver post earring findings (alas, not nickel-free) were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted more solid plastic/metal earring backs for the smaller, metal-only earring backs.

Because events in the kiln create the glass design, my pieces are all one-of-a-kind. Get these earrings and rejoice in a mesmerizing world of color!

They were created by layering pieces of gold/green clear-based dichroic glass over pieces of blue opaque glass and firing them in a kiln at temperatures reaching 1500 degrees. This caused the dichroic glass to melt into the blue glass and draw the edges up, resulting in perfectly round glass nuggets.

The silver post earring findings (alas, not nickel-free) were attached using industrial-strength adhesive. I've substituted more secure combination plastic/metal earring backs for the cheaper, smaller all-metal ones.

Each of my pieces is the result of a one-of-a-kind experiment in combinations and patterns of fused glass. These earrings are great fun to wear and are sure to add a sparkle to your blue-jeans outfits!

They were created using two layers of dichroic glass and one layer of clear glass, fused together in a kiln at temperatures near 1500 degrees. The high full-fuse temperature causes the glass to draw up into a perfectly spherical bead.

Using industrial-strength adhesive, I attached silver metal post earring findings and a combination plastic/metal earring back (alas, I cannot guarantee the findings to be nickel-free). The luminous yellow and green colors are striking and take on a prismatic character in natural light.

Winter Beach - fused glass drop earrings

$20.00
These light, stylish earrings measure 3.6 cm from top to bottom, which includes the 2 cm x 1.7 cm fused glass rectangle.

I began with a thin sheet of french vanilla art glass and sifted black glass powder over it. Using a paintbrush-like tool, I "scratched" (a technique known as sgrafito, from the Italian) through the powder to create the pattern you see. This sheet of glass was then fired to tack-fuse the powder to the glass.

Since the glass was still thin enough to score and break, I cut these shapes out of it and overlaid them with thin clear glass, firing them at a full-fuse temperature. I then drilled holes for the findings using a Dremel and gave them a final fire polish. The earrings were finished with brass jump rings and 24K gold earwires.

These earrings are the "first of a kind", since this is a new technique that I hope to employ more often in the future. The gold, black, and vanilla colors make these easy to wear and match with casual or formal outfits.

Dash of Pink - fused dichroic glass pin

It begins with clear dichroic glass with a pattern of raised stripes. A "dash" of pink dichroic rod glass is tack-fused onto the top surface.

Tack fusing is a firing technique which requires a lower temperature and shorter hold time than full fusing. In a full fuse, the glass components melt to liquid and mingle completely; in a tack fuse, the glass components stick together but don't lose their shape. This makes sharper angles and finer detail possible.

The piece is finished by attaching it to a silver pin finding with industrial-strength adhesive. The pin clasp has a solid, easy-to-use mechanism.

Funhouse Stripes - dichroic fused glass post earrings

$18.00
These cobalt blue and white striped post earrings are slightly oblong-shaped (or nearly square, if you prefer), 1.9 cm long x 1.7 cm wide with rounded corners. The wiggly stripes over the sparkling silver dichroic glass bring a tiny bit of wacky to these beautiful, fun-to-wear earrings. Instead of the tiny, easy-to-lose standard earring backs, I've provided a pair of the wider, more comfortable metal-and-plastic variety.

To create these earrings, silver dichroic glass was combined with precisely cut colored cathedral glass and fused together in a kiln at 1450 degrees. After cooling, I shaped the nuggets to ensure their symmetry and gave them a final kiln polish. The silver metal (alas, not nickel-free) posts were attached with industrial strength adhesive.

Each of my pieces are individually designed. Though it's possible in some cases to return to the source material and recreate a piece, unique variations in colored glass patterns and kiln firing events conspire to make each piece of jewelry one-of-a-kind. Each piece seems to come out of the kiln with its own "idea" or visual rhythm in play, and I see my job as an artist to develop and express that idea. Enjoy!
Their long visual line will complement scoop necklines and long hair with great panache.

The silver tubular beads are from an old necklace of my mother's, which I combined with red dyed quartz beads and silver accents. The head pins and earwires are 925 sterling silver.

I enjoy experimenting with the visual rhythms that emerge in the process of beading. I hope these help you find your own rhythm to dance to!

Golden Rosedrops - beaded/fused dichroic glass drop earrings

The dichroic/clear glass nugget complements the gold findings and gold-plated pewter bead with luminous yellow, green, and burnt orange colors. The earwires and bails are 14K gold.

I create these pieces by starting with fusible art glass, cutting it into various shapes and layering different types up together - in this case, clear glass atop a patterned black dichroic glass. These pieces are then fired in a kiln at temperatures up to 1500 degrees and then cooled. If any further design is suggested by events in the kiln, I use a grinder to perfect its shape. A fire polish at a slightly lower temperature finishes the fused glass piece.

I then search for semiprecious stone and precious metal beads to complement the aesthetic idea expressed in the fused glass. Findings are attached to the glass using industrial-strength adhesive, and each piece is then assembled into a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art.
