Bianca C Necklace - Swarovski crystal, 14k gold filled, coral, MeghanT

“Who is Bianca C?”, you might be wondering. Well, the answer to that question is not who, but what!

Bianca C is the largest dividable shipwreck in the entire Caribbean, and she’s the second largest ship ever to have been lost beneath the tropical waters. Thanks to the people of Grenada, 700 lives were saved back in 1961 when a massive explosion destroyed the ships engine room, and started a blazing inferno. To thank Grenadians for their heroic rescue efforts, and for caring for Bianca C’s forlorn passengers for weeks until two ships could be sent to retrieve them, Grenada was presented with a statue from the Italian government called “Christ of the Deep”. Today the statue can be seen in St.Georges harbor, with its hands extended up towards the heavens.

Currently the 600ft Bianca C is resting on a sandy plain in 167 feet of water near Grenada, between two parallel reefs. The ship is enormous, and divers are thrilled to discover they can swim below deck. At times the currents in this area are strong, so trips to the Bianca C should be reserved for experienced divers only. The ship is bedecked with sponges, and a variety of soft and hard corals, so it was the inspiration for this magnificent gold filled necklace!

Down to the basics:

I reserved my best material for this creation. The coral is vintage, and 100% natural, which is rare to find nowadays, and expensive. It looks bright red on my monitor, but it's actually a more natural red/orange colour. The coral was salvaged from a necklace passed down to me from my grandmother (who got it from her mother). My Grandmother was one of the people who cared for some of Bianca C’s passengers in her own home, so I thought it was a fitting tribute. A black Swarovski crystal was used centrally for dramatic effect, and to offset the lovely natural red of the coral. All these components are strung together with gold filled wire and chain.

This necklace can be worn two different ways. Attach the clasp to a ring provided at the end (see first picture, OR attach the clasp to the second ring further up (from which I’ve hung the second piece of coral) for a lariat style necklace(second picture). You get two necklaces in one with this item, so it's a great investment!

Honey was the inspiration for this piece. I used gorgeous faceted amber colored tourmaline briolettes, and wire wrapped them with gold filled wire. Coupled with the gold these earrings remind me of droplets of rich nectar running down a fruit. You just want to follow the golden trail with your finger, and lick it up.

Nothing beats the beautiful warm rich color of a dollop of honey on a spoon. When you mix it in a glass with a tiny bit of lime juice, you have a wonderful healing concoction, good to sip on a summer day, or a lifesaver when you're under the weather.

These earrings are a homage to the large wine cellar my boyfriend has in our basement. He's a bit of a wine connoisseur and I like to encourage his hobbies(especially whey they benefit me directly). Nothing beats the fiery tropical sunsets you are privileged to witness on warm nights in Grenada. It's as if someone struck a match and decided to light up the heavens. Like a bonfire, deep reds, oranges, and pinks lick across the sky, until darkness descends and mutes everything with a cool inky blackness. No sunset is ever the same, and we’re constantly amazed at the majesty of nature. Who needs a painting in your home, when you can walk out onto your balcony, and be stunned anew each and every evening. I have been on a beach theme lately, and I wanted to try to capture the essence of Grenada's sunsets just before darkness descends. I believe these earrings do Grenada justice, don’t you think?

The Swarovski crystals I utilized used for this creation are very different from my standard blue ones. There is no backing on them to artificially enhance the colour, so both sides are equally magnificent. The crystal colouring has also been graduated, which is rare to find. They’re more costly to obtain, but nothing less would do.

These stunning luxurious crystals have been painstakingly wire wrapped in oxidized sterling silver, and hung from thick sterling silver rings. I utilized a decent amount of silver in this creation, so these Sunset earrings have a nice weight to them, and feel good in the palm of your hand. My earrings are always comfortable though, and hang gently from your ears.

Don’t have time to escape some place special this year? No problem. Live vicariously though these earrings and marvel at the smoldering Caribbean sunset captured in these crystals, which are now swinging from your ears.

These small bright red seeds are very special. This variety come specifically from Grenada (the Spice Isle) and were hand gathered by a lovely local resident. I pick a small supply up when I visit each year in December. I hand drilled them in my studio, polished them with special oil, and then suspend the gems on 14k gold filled rings. Simple, understated and elegant! Luxury straight from the Island of Spice (Grenada).

I am a self professed Louis Vuitton addict. I have a list of purses I intend to buy during the course of my lifetime (when I become famous of course). My friends think I'm crazy but I don't care. For now I am content with my little Louis Vuitton clutch that my boyfriend bought me (out of pity) several years ago. Every now and then I take it out of its box, admire it fondly, and then squirrel it away for special occasions.

As soon as I looked at these seeds I knew something was familiar about them. It didn't take me long to figure out that they reminded me a lot of one of my favorite red handbags: the Louis Vuitton Alma GM (a classic of the house). It's a gorgeous large monogrammed vernis leather purse and it's form is perfectly echoed in these lustrous red seeds.

It's party time!

I love seeing people throw confetti. It looks like such fun. I worry about my hair sometimes though, because when I'm rocking my curls you can't really run your fingers through your locks to pull out the little bits of paper that land in it. Well...you could but your hair would end up a frizzy mess. Maybe I should clarify and state that I'd love to be on the throwing end of a confetti storm. If you see me coiffed and dressed up - please- direct your confetti assault at my partner who has straight hair and can take it (guys don't care much about hair anyway).

These earrings are simply a bit of fun I conjured up in my studio. They're not meant to be taken too seriously. Toss them on with a tank top and away you go.

Featuring gorgeous colored tagua nut diamonds(in bright pink, lime green, and purple) strung together with gold filled links and hanging from a stamped 14k gold filled ear hook. I alternated the color sequence on each pair of earrings because I liked this slightly quirky look.

There are some strangely exotic treats to be had in Grenada, if you’ve a sweet tooth and a sense of adventure. This necklace is named after Paradise Plums – locally made balls of hard candy consisting of copious amounts of sugar and essence. They’re an eye catching bright red and yellow color, reportedly walking a fine line between sweet and eye wateringly sour. My Grandmother says when she thinks about them her mouth puckers up. For some reason they haven't been on shelves in Grenada for a long while. I’ll have to see if I can ferret some out when I’m next on vacation! They don’t sound like something I’d want to chew on, but they’d make funny treats to leave out for unsuspecting guests.

To make this colorful concoction I wire wrapped a faceted amethyst briolette with 14k gold filled wire and hung it on top of a large deep turquoise blue tagua nut, and a lime green tagua nut sliver. The ribbon is a bright pink magenta color. Very cheery, colorful and perfect for that trip to the Caribbean.

This necklace can be worn multiple ways. Tie the ribbon around the back of your neck in a bow, wind it back around the necklace towards the front for a chunky look, or tie knots in creative places. Thanks to the horrible weather we've been having here in Canada recently I am starting to really pine away for someplace warm. We go away to Grenada every year in December but I'm not so sure I can wait much longer.

I have been dreaming up tropical creations to wear out on the beach. This necklace was inspired by our aerial view of the islands as we fly overhead to our tropical destination. You see a bright green island lush with vegetation, and then a lighter blue rim around the island which blurs into a deeper indigo color as the water deepens.

Tattoo Choker Necklace - Red Heart Tagua silver

This necklace reminds me of the old tattoos sailors used to get, hence the name. I designed this necklace to fall below the base of your throat so it’s highly visible. This choker style creation is a more fitted piece so please check to make sure this item will encircle your neck comfortably before you make your purchase.

Featured prominently in this creation is a polished bright red vegetable ivory (tagua nut) heart which I customized in my studio. If you’re never felt vegetable ivory before – rest assured its lovely. It is a hard substance that has a lovely smooth slippery feel, much like real ivory, only it’s from a nut. (As a bonus it’s 100% safe to animals and is brought from a fair trade supplier.)

The heart is suspended from a handmade sterling silver chain which was oxidized and then buffed to bring out the minute details in the creation. Glittery black spinel gemstones add a touch of glamor and finish off the piece. A sterling silver clasp attaches to one of the rings piercing the heart, so it’s easy to take on and off.

This little necklace is adorable. It looks great with a tank top or anything open necked and would be fabulous on the beach with a bikini (although remember to take it off before you go in the water so the tagua nut doesn’t get damaged.)

Lazy Lagoon - Mulit color Swarovski Fashion Earrings

One of my favorite places to hang out in Grenada is at by the waterfront in St. Georges at a bar called Lazy Lagoon. Well, actually, the hotel is called Lazy Lagoon and the bar is called the Horni Baboon, but I didn’t think that would be an appropriate name for these earrings! Local people use these names interchangeably to refer to the bar so it’s not a big deal.

If you’re ever in Grenada on vacation you really should check out this hangout. They’ve undergone renovations recently so they can handle bigger crowds. You’ll feel right at home in this club paradise, tiki bar like complex. The music is always great, delicious snacks are readilly available, and you’re bound to run into someone you know if you stop by in the evenings for a drink.

The crystals I used for these earrings kick up a whole spectrum of amazing colors and they immediately made me think of Lazy Lagoon. The waterfront sometimes has a weird iridescent sort of inky oil slick like shimmer to it, thanks to all the boats passing around, and when the sun lights it up I swear there are patches that look just like these earrings! (In case you’re wondering…no… don’t recommend you swim in the water! Get a lift to Grand Anse Beach instead and take a dip there at one of Grenada’s most famous beaches!)

My tiny signature water gems pearls feature prominently in this delicate creation, and are complimented by a mass of glittery black spinel gemstones. I love how they twinkle in the light against the white of the pearls. An alluring two inch decorative thread hangs down the back of the necklace, accentuating the neck. Title: "Seaweed Necklace"
Inspiration:

Seaweed abounds at Spray Bay beach in Grenada. It’s an out of the way local, but it’s my absolute favorite beach on the whole island because it’s so rough and secluded. The waves knock people over, tossing you like a limp ragdoll up onto the beach. We go back time and time again to be abused and tenderized, yet we love every moment of it. Often, after a big wave hits, I will be left sprawled in an ungainly position in the sand, gasping as the waters recede, while picking lumps of seaweed and other organic matter out of my hair and swim suit. This necklace reminds me so much of what the surf churns up on this powerful beach, that I couldn’t name it after anything else.

Real jewel toned beetle wing earrings fit for an Amazon princess. To honor these marvels of nature I wanted to design a piece that was feminine yet evocative of the insects they came from. I selected two matching beetle wings and ground them down and shaped them in my studio. 14k gold filled wire was used to attach a cluster of glittery ink black spinel gemstones that look just like delicate beetle legs. This cute creation is suspended from fine 14k gold filled chain.

These ethereal jewels make a lovely tinkling noise when you walk and are bound to attract attention. They are a great ice breaker at parties, and suitable for anyone who prefers to walk on the wild side. ;)

Absinthe Earrings - Tourmaline wire wrapped sterling silver

I was at a wine show recently sampling rare vintages with my boyfriend. After a few hours spent gazing blankly at ancient bottles of wine and sampling things that began to taste remarkably similar, I had had enough. I left my boyfriend to continue a lively discussion he was having with an attendant and went in search of a snack.

As I made my way to a food exhibit I noticed something peculiar. There were rows of beautiful green bottles set up at a booth, and a gentleman was pouring this lime green liquor over a sugar cube into a cup. The sign said "Absinthe" so I abandoned my quest for food and moved a little closer to investigate.

I remember seeing pictures in art class by Vincent Van Gogh depicting people in a bar slurping up something green. I believe this was the stuff that all the artist and intellectuals used to drink back in the day. Thrilled I handed over my money to score a sample of this delectable substance. Enthralled I watched the attendant make my drink (it's quite a production) and then with a flourish he handed me my sample.

Reverently I brought the cup up to my lips and took a sip...then gagged. I have never tasted something so foul in my life. No one told me Absinthe tastes like black liquorish and I can't stand the stuff. I felt like licking my napkin it was so gross.

People assured me that this magical drink would transport me to another realm, so I was willing to give it a chance. I had visions of tapping into some esoteric dimension and taking my creativity to a whole different level. All I had to do is wait. Well, with a grimace I chugged back the rest of my Absinthe sample and went back to find my boyfriend.

Needless to say...Absinthe did nothing for me. Apparently the level of wormwood in North American Absinthe is nil, so it doesn't really do much more than get you a little tipsy. Determined to salvage something out of this experience I decided to design a pair of Absinthe themed earrings.

Description

For this Absinthe inspired creation I used a pair of beautiful lime green tagua nut slices from which hang a cluster of multi-colored tourmaline gemstones. The gems have been wire wrapped in oxidized sterling silver wire and then polished to bring out minute details in the work. These are gorgeous in person, with lots of style and shimmer.

Cocktail Earring - White Pearls Swarovski Tourmaline black silver

Last year my boyfriend and I went to an amazing cocktail event for Valentines Day. We learnt how to make a wide assortment of colorful valentines inspired drinks. At one point our host had us using red licorice as straws and sipping a sinfully delicious pink beverage. It was a wonderful experience, and I think no one should be without a special drink on Valentines Day (or special earrings for that matter). Consequently I searched the web for a delicious easy recipe for you to try out, and I’ve included it below. It was my inspiration for these new “Cosmo” Cocktail earrings.

These earrings are a lot of fun! I dipped into my gem box and used my finest large freshwater pears, topped them off with a jet black Swarovski (silver plated) spacer bead, and added two stunningly beautiful gem quality tourmaline spheres (look how clear they are!). One is pink, and the other is a lovely fresh green color. To compliment these lovely summery colors I used oxidized sterling silver metal to add contrast and visual interest. I think they’re worthy of their namesake!

I think I’m going through a nature theme phase. I can’t leave my house without finding some visual delight that I have to turn into art! Everywhere I look I find inspiration, and today’s earrings are no exception.

Grenada Burning Bead Necklace - Seed natural wire gem Swarovski

When I was little my Grandfather introduced me to a wonderful seed while we were out exploring one morning in Grenada. It’s large and quite smooth, and when you rub it vigorously on the carpet, or against some rough material like denim, it really heats up. It can get so hot that it feels like it’s burning the skin. I gleefully held out my hand and watched my Grandfather do a demonstration, then stuffed my pockets with these seeds and ran off to find my little brother. Needless to say, I introduced him to the wonderful scorching effects of this fire seed also. He was so impressed he ran off to find our younger cousin…and on an on it went.

Fast forwards to 2009, and I was demonstrating the effects of this seed to a good friend of ours who accompanied me and my boyfriend on our trip to Grenada. He can attest to the fact that it does burn. It doesn’t damage the skin at all, but for a brief few seconds it does get impressively hot. Here’s a quote about this seed from the book “Caribbean Spice Island plants”:

“For childish entertainment, the seed can be rubbed on a hard surface to become extremely hot, and then placed surreptitiously either on the lower leg or on the back of the hand of unwary victims. Watch them yelp.”

I could have done serious damage if I had this necklace when I was little! Dripping off this impressive little seed is an assortment of bright carnival colored gems, semi-precious stones, and Swarovski crystals. The body of the chain is oxidized sterling silver, and any gold you see peeking through is 14k gold filled chain and/or wire. A beautiful decadent tropical necklace fit for any Caribbean Princess.

How to use this necklace:

Hold the necklace upside down. Carefully hold the gems away from the seed and then vigorously rub it across the carpet. Keep going for a few seconds to really generate some heat. Test the seed with your fingers to see if it’s scorching enough for you yet. Keep going if you need more heat. Then press it against a leg or arm!

(If you’re having trouble getting the seed hot enough, experiment with different surfaces. Coarse fabric like denim, a mat, and the carpet usually work well. Be careful the surface is not abrasive or you might damage the seed.)

Inspiration/History of these seeds
These small bright red seeds are very special. This variety come specifically from Grenada (the Spice Isle) and were hand gathered by a lovely local resident. I pick a small supply up from her when I visit each year in December. I hand drilled them in my studio, polished them with special oil, and then carefully (using a pearl knotting technique) string the seeds together on thick colorful silk chord. Simple, understated and elegant! Luxury straight from the Island of Spice (Grenada.

Care instructions:
Please respect the life lying dormant inside these gorgeous seed beads. While this is a beach style necklace it is not designed to withstand a trip out into the surf! To preserve the real silk and seeds slip the necklace off before you go out into the water.

These fabulous beetle wing earrings were designed to mimic a bright green leaf swinging in the breeze. Lengths of gold filled chain were woven into the wings to recreate the veined pattern on the back of a real leaf. Two faceted ruby gemstones were wrapped in gold wire and hung from the tip of each "leaf" to compliment the iridescent blue green color of the genuine beetle wings. They remind me of opulent red tropical flowers, bursting forth from a vine.

As you drive up to Grand Etang Nature reserve in Grenada, the first thing you’ll start to notice is that the air begins to get cooler. As you weave your way up the hills into the mountains, you feel the temperature begin to shift by degrees as you leave the sweltering heat of town far behind you. It’s like someone flipped the switch and turned up a natural air conditioner!

Enter into a world that almost looks prehistoric. Oversized Jurassic looking ferns sweep down onto the neatly maintained winding road while imposing trees shelter your skin from the mid-day tropical sun. As you whip by the scenery in your car you’ll catch sporadic bursts of color as flowers burst out from the shrubbery in little clusters, and emerge from vines that drape themselves like bright yellow gossamer netting over the vegetation.

When you reach the top of the mountain you will see signs announcing your arrival into the Grand Etang. It begins to feels like you’ve transported into another world. Green floods your vision and the air has a delicious rich earthy scent. The view is awe inspiring and humbling and you’ll probably stand around with your mouth hanging open for the first few minutes while you try to take it all in.

These earrings are my attempt to capture the majesty of Grenada’s tropical rain forest: the Grand Etang. I used a pair of brilliant blue/green beetle wings which I polished off and drilled in my studio. Their natural iridescent color is just out of this world and I can’t believe this color exists in nature. You have to see them to believe them. They are light as feathers, make a lovely tinkling sound as you walk and have a major visual impact. To recreate the look of real leafs I carefully wove lengths of fine chain into the backs of the beetle wings. Almost dripping off the tip of these leaves, like a drop of water rolling down the back of a leaf, is a faceted ruby gemstone wire wrapped in 14k gold filled wire. These remind me of looking at leaves and tropical flowers, just after a sun shower. Just heavenly!

There is an old lava spill, down by a cliff in Grenada that we go to whenever we’re on the island. It is pitted with large and small holes, and extends out into the sea. Waves wash over it intermittently, and it’s almost fully submerged at high tide. Numerous fish live in these little crevices along the spill, and we often go down to peek into their natural fish tanks, viewing the unsuspecting creatures (hence the name “Fishy Pools”) The natural little pools are all covered what looks like bright aquatic slime, and various forms of vegetation. It’s like natures zoo, free of charge! It’s amazing, and a great way to learn about animals, if you have the patience to sit frozen still, for hours at a time. I know my mom was very amused one afternoon when she sat patiently on a rock, and watched the interplay between a set of very territorial crabs, fighting over a scrap of dead fish.

This ring was designed to mimic my beloved Fishy Pools. Looking down onto the ring is just like looking down into one of the many water filled crevices. At first the surface looks smoky grey as it’s distorted by the wind, but once the breeze shifts and the water stills, it’s like a portal has been opened up. Suddenly a scene emerges, and you’re treated to a brief glimpse of tropical fish, bright colors, and hermit crabs going about their daily activities, until the wind starts back up again.

To mimic the choppy waters surface I used a lovely faceted smoky quartz sphere. Surrounding it is a cluster of bright blue natural semi-precious stones. Everything has been wire wrapped with silver colored wire. This ring is about a size 6.5. (See picture of ring on ring mandrel for details.) It looks quite incredible on, and is a lot of fun to wear!

Story behind these earrings:

My original Grenada sunset earrings are doing so well (both in North America and in the Caribbean) that I really wanted to come up with a luxury version for my more discriminating clients. These are similar to my original Grenada Sunset Earrings, but more opulent. They still have the gorgeous Grenada Sunset colors that people adore, but they’re darker and more mysterious.

When I was making these beauties, I was thinking about how the sunset looks in Grenada just as it begins to get darker. Instead of the bright golden yellows and oranges hues, everything becomes more saturated, turning deep red with streaks of purple. When you take a picture, the land seems silhouetted in black, and you get this gorgeous contrast between the island and the sky. I wanted these earrings to evoke memories of that scene. I have included a picture I took while on vacation, so you can see what I’m talking about!

When I was little I used to think that the little white butterflies that frequented my Grandmothers vegetable garden were magical. I could never understand why she fretted over them and wanted them dead. To me the little green caterpillars she’d point out that were eating her vegetables had nothing to do with the lovely winged creatures I had grown so fond of. They looked like little pieces of clouds, flitting along on the warm summer breeze, and it made way more sense to me to just sit back and enjoy their beauty and not interfere with them.

I have wanted to make these Flutterby earrings for a while now. (I refuse to call them butterflys! Flutterbys seems way more appropriate.) They’re simple, sweet, and light as air... as they should if they’re themed after Flutterbys! The bright Swarovski pink crystal I used for this creation is one of my favourite colours at the moment. I ADORE bright pink, and I think it looks wonderful against the black oxidized sterling silver. These ear thread earrings can be adjusted in your ears. You can make them look long or short with a gentle tug on the chain.

Tears Earrings - peruvian opals sterling silver

Ya know...sometimes you just have one of those days. Work starts getting to you, stresses keep piling up, and after weeks of keeping a stiff upper lip, suddenly you find yourself cracking. You can feel the emotions well up, and as hard as you furrow your brow trying to keep your cool, something starts to slip internally.

I don't know why crying gets such a bad rep in our society. People try to avoid it at all costs, and it's not socially acceptable to have a good weep during a meeting, but I feel immense relief after a good heart wrenching bawl. I feel a lightening of my load, and once I've cried out all those bothersome emotions, I'm ready to take the bull by the horns again...red eyes and all!

These earrings are a tribute to tears, and the restorative effects of a good cry. Yes - I made these during one of those down moments when I was blubbering at my desk. I bought a strand of beautiful blue and white peruvian opals, and they worked so well as tears, I paired them with some silver colored pearls and oxidized sterling silver and I let this little creation flow out of me. I feel great now that they're done! ;)

What's a Caribbean inspired jewellery line without the odd touch of black magic every once in a while? Not worth it's salt if you ask me!

Introducing "Witch Doctor" to the Etsy community. I came across these gorgeous gold colored brass skulls a while ago and just had to snap them up. They reminded me of pirates, the high sea, and buried treasure, so I brought them home and designate them towards my Caribbean line of jewellery. I am only able to make about 3 pairs of these earrings. Once they're gone - they're gone, so they're very limited edition.

All the blackened metal used in this creation is oxidized sterling silver, so these should be fine for sensitive ears. To add some tropical luxury and color, I carefully wire wrapped 4 sparkling ruby rondelles to these skulls to act as blood red eyes. Careful...sometimes it seems like they're following you.

Ebb and Flow Earrings - Peruvian Opal blue white gold sea shell big

I just got back from sourcing materials in Grenada! I went all over the island looking for material and was thrilled to discover a diverse array of shells. Every beach had a unique offering and it was like landing upon a treasure trove. Several unusual looks were cast in my direction as people watched me scampering along the beach, tray in hand, selectively collecting perfect shells. Two brave souls actually approached me to ask what I was doing. I guess adults don’t gather shells anymore!

To honor these beautiful little Grenada shells, I wanted to evoke the feeling of the beach they came from. The water was gorgeous, and would spill onto the sand in foamy undulating waves, then shrink back on itself, gathering strength for another mad rush towards the shore. You had to be quick because as soon as you spotted a gem of a shell winking at you in the sun, waves would crash over it and whisk it away. I get panicky when I see a beautiful shell in the surf now because I spent so long jumping madly into the sand trying to beat the rushing water. These clusters of Peruvian opals have been artfully arranged to evoke that feeling off the gathering waves, and I still have trouble checking my reaction to grab these shells up to save them!

These shells are amazing because they were drilled by nature! All I had to do was spend hours finding a matching pair. ;) My guess is that there is something in the water that preys on these little guys, and it does so by grinding away a very neat hole, and then feasting! When I am next back on the island I will see if I can unravel this mystery and not just speculate. Either way, I took advantage of this fortuitous event, and put away my drill for another day.

Red Riding Hood Earrings - Ruby Gold wire tear drop

Plump cherry red drops of perfection, worthy of their namesake. I can't get over how amazing these gemstones are! They practically glow in person. A wolf would have a hard time resisting this particular temptation. If you love the color red like I do, you’re going to drool over these.

No two ways about it - these earrings take my breath away. Normally the rubies I buy from my suppliers are faceted, but I was able to secure a very limited supply that are smooth and this lovely rich red color. When paired with gold wire the vibrancy of the stone really pops. I didn’t want to add too many embellishments because the stone itself is so spectacular. All these gems needed to elevate them to superstar status was some 14k gold filled wire and findings. You just don't mess with perfection.

These go with everything, and can be worn both day and night. I haven’t met a person who these don’t look incredible on. If you can only get one pair of earrings, these should be them because of their versatility and classic elegance.

I have included pictures of my mannequin modeling the earrings. She is to scale, so you'll get a good idea as to how these will look on you!

You have no idea how ready I am for summer. Every time I think it’s time to take out my warmer wardrobe, we get a day of chilly drizzle and cloudy dark skies. <Sigh> Well I’m not giving up! If I can’t be outside basking in the sun and tanning, I’ll bring the sun to me!

In defiance of the weather I created these awesome little fire balls. Aren’t they just gorgeous!? Photographing them put me in such a good mood. They do amazing things with the light and seem to glow against your skin. Talk about turning up the heat!

For this creation I used two rare Swarovski/Strass crystals, wire wrapped them with tones of gold plated wire, and topped everything off with adorable little honey colored tourmaline rondelles. Ear hooks are 14k gold filled.

The mannequin I used to model these earrings is to scale, so she should help give you a really good idea about how these look in person. Because of the crystals used these earrings have a bit more substance and are not feather light like some of my other pieces. They’ll get you attention and you’ll look amazing in them, but you won’t forget that they’re there. I don’t advise you go running with them on, but they’ll be stellar for an evening out when you need really to shine!

I can just picture some goddess striding purposefully through the forest, while these flutter gently against her neck! She reaches up to brush aside a bothersome branch, and a hot beam of sunlight catches her ear, lighting up pink spherical gems, and slippery smooth tagua scales.

Tagua nuts were my inspiration for this piece. These little tagua scales have a unique story, and are quite rare. Each time they slice a tagua nut to make a special expensive pendant, they make ONE of these scales in the process. They don’t get many requests for said pendants, so these ravishing scales are few and fare between! I love rare and unique materials, so I jumped on them! Naturally I had to honor this little purple sliver of perfection, with an equally perfect, AAA grade pink tourmaline gemstone sphere, and 14k gold filled components! Definitely fit for a princess!

I have to admit, that as soon as I made these, I fell in love, and promptly put them in my jewellery box. I got told off though, and suffered pangs of guilt (I'm not supposed to keep my creations!). Alas, this is a recurring problem of mine! I just can’t let go of certain items! So,for your consideration, I present “Amazon”.

Ever noticed what an adorable color Blue Curacao is? <Hiccup> It’s gorgeous! I never though I would enjoy sipping on something blue...but lo and behold, our bottle (er...my boyfriends bottle) is almost half empty. Blue is probably one of my favorite colors to work with, so I just had to make these cute little 14k gold filled lapis lazuli earrings in honor of such a fun drink. They go with anything, and add a welcome little pop of color to your lobes.

The wire wrapping on these earrings is a bit more intricate than my first Blue Curacao Earrings (which sold a while ago), so they're twice as awesome as before! Stave off those winter blues with a delectable mixed drink (recipe to follow), and some fun accessories!

Here’s something you can make with Blue Curacao:

Polar Breeze Martini
1 oz Polar Ice Vodka
1 oz Blue Curacao
Lychee Juice
Splash of tart lemonade
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass

I love the shape of a simple circle, and all its symbolism. There is no beginning, and no end, it just goes on forever. Something about that continuity feels so comforting.

I normally gravitate towards silver and gold, but once in a while I am drawn to simple copper. I chose to experiment with it, and loved how it worked with carnelian and garnet beads. This assemblage of warm orange and red tones reminds me of a flickering flame in a way. Oxidized sterling silver ear hooks, partially wrapped in copper, finish off this creation.

Inspiration:
These earrings were designed originally around my younger cousins birthday. She is very much into music and is pursuing a career as a singer. I wanted to design a pair of earrings for her that were inspired by her musical aptitude. We both adored these because of the guitar pic shape and the bold colors. She chose a bright orange pair with flashy Swarovski Crystals for her birthday (which perfectly suited her spunky personality) and her sister chose a more sedate calming blue pair handing from a simple chain.

Title: "Aquarium Beach Earrings"

Inspiration:
Nothing compares to the freedom of movement you have, once you dive into the sea. Your body becomes weightless as you nimbly glide through the salt water, and let your hair swirl around you in the current. I love swimming out to deeper water, partially blowing out the air from my lungs, and letting my body gently sink down to the seabed. It feels sort of like flying, but a little more breathless!

If you’re even sat on a dock in Grenada as dusk approached, and watched as the sea darkens by degree into a hot blue/green colour, then you understand why I had to make these earrings. I needed something to remember the waters at dusk around the island that I call home. Now whenever you glance in the mirror, you’ll be reminded of steamy dark nights, lolling waves, and the true blue colours of the Caribbean.

These night-time earrings look just as amazing as my original Aquarium Beach Earrings. I used oxidized sterling silver wire to cradle the crystal, and I went for a thick nested looking wire wrap. Some tropical flowers tend to curl up at night, and I wanted that feeling recreated here around the crystals. I'm heading back to Grenada in December, and I will definitely be wearing these out at night, at the Aquarium Beach club!

Please note that the wire looks almost black in the first 3 pictures, but it's actually more of a deep charcoal grey colour in daylight. This is reflected best in the 4th and 5th picture.

Care: These eye popping crystals have a dark opaque coating on the back to add color, and enhance their reflective properties. Care needs to be taken not to scratch off this surface, so don't rest your earrings anywhere abrasive where they could be damaged.

Designer arm Bracelet - Handmade beaded jewelry jewellery

Large 14k gold filled donut beads and lava rock spheres make up the body of this handmade designer bracelet. Surrounding them is a makeshift branch of frosted Smokey quarts beads. The components and adjustable chain are all 14k gold filled. Finishing off the bracelet is an onyx droplet, suspended on a slender length of chain. Very unique, and feels quite comfortable on ones arm. This can go from casual, to dressy, with a simple change of your outfit.

Inspiration:

The inspiration for this bracelet came from Grenada’s Frangipani Caterpillar. Ever seen one? They are a sight to behold. (I have included a picture for you to view!) Their enormous size and voracious appetite set them apart from other insects. I have never spied a Frangipani tree without a horde of these caterpillars clinging to its branches, so maybe they have some sort of special relationship worked out.

I love contrasting colors, so I have always been drawn to this fat little caterpillar, but I’ve never worked up the courage to touch one. We used to joke about making them into bracelets, but I am told that they bite, so I always maintain a very respectful distance. Now I have a safer way to enjoy their splendor! Introducing the Caterpillar Bracelet!

(Note: One of the frosted smoky quartz beads has a natural inclusion just below the surface that looks like a rainbow. When the light hits it just so, it really lights up. It’s very pretty, so I wanted to use it, but I want you to know it’s there so you’re not wondering what it is when the bracelet arrives!)

This bracelet is adjustable, and is 9.4 inches long, from end to end, when laid out flat. It will look best on a 6-7 inch wrist.

Barnacles were my inspiration for this odd but cute copper wire ring. I wanted to design something that reminded me of a cluster of these persistent little creatures. Purple freshwater pearls are wire wrapped around yards of bright copper wire, giving life to this organic, nature themed creation.

Inspiration:
I never thought the little creatures that cling to rocks and the bottom of boats were particularly lovely. They seem to be a nuisance more than anything else, causing yachters much grief. You’ve got to appreciate their tenacity though. Once they latch onto something, they’re almost impossible to dislodge. On closer inspection I realized that like everything in life, they have a message to convey: Hanging in there!

(My camera makes the pearls look almost navy blue, but they are purple in real life. )

This large embellished Swarovski Charm ring, inspired by Grenada's Flamboyant Flower, is just bursting with vibrancy and color. Tonnes of finely wrapped Swarovski crystals explode in a radial of orange yellow and red - offset by blackened sterling silver forming a hot, smoldering coal type effect. It's like peering into a fire pit when you have this little beauty shimmering on your finger.
