I use two herbal oils I make myself. Lavender in sweet almond oil & chamomile and st. johnswort in extra virgin olive oil - to which I add unrefined shea butter and jojoba.

This is an excellent salve for hand or foot cream, in place of a cuticle salve, on the lips especially before retiring :), and a must for those who like the real lavender (as opposed to the fragrance oil of lavender). I have customers who wear it on their lips at night and would take an oath it helps them sleep deeply. It is very nice on the hands in place of lotion - works in deeply and maintains smooth and soft hands for a long while. Very, very fragrant.

I have two versions of jasmine. One is a deeper, bass note with little sweetness about it, and the other is this one. Its sweetness is very floral and fragrant and does not hurt the nose. Most people enjoy this sweet one more. Its aroma makes me feel as if I’m wearing garlands of the flowers!

Nothing manmade beats a natural perfume. The smell is so very agreeable to our noses, brains, and bodies. And, if believed, the natural oils have properties beneficial to our psyches and well-being. Just smelling a natural essential oil, absolute or precious essential is said to have its positive effects.

(When manmade: smells can aggravate our noses and there are little benefits. Smells do trigger memories, though, so in that way, they are beneficial if the memory is sweet.)

Jojoba is a new “darling” of the skin care world. It is endowed with many said properties of preservation, penetration, protection, and filled with good things for our parched and abused skin. It is an ideal base for natural absolutes and precious essentials because of its supposed ability to preserve (last a long, long time) and it is odorless itself. It also seems to penetrate the skin quite quickly leaving the aromatic natural perfume behind to linger a few hours.

Other benefits of a natural perfume are that it does not seem to offend others, it doesn’t last long enough (some do not see this as a plus, but if it leaves you wanting more...), it doesn’t affect the smell of our clothes, and it helps us connect with something very natural and wonderful.

I tried the solid natural perfumes, but not many enjoyed getting the solid on their fingertips. Where to wipe it? Then, oil spots everywhere...

*Absolutes have a tendency to separate from oil/jojoba, etc. To use your perfume oil effectively, the “best” way is to warm the bottle in your hands until the absolute is solvent with the jojoba. Using anything else might break down the properties.

The pic with the marshmallows is truth. The marshmallow herb I use in my products used to be the source for real marshmallows made of spun sugar and marshmallow root water. It was a real treat, I hear. Today it is just sugar. :)

Coconut oil adds hardness and big bubbly lather; it also helps the shampoo to rinse cleanly quickly. Castor oil adds creamy and smooth lather. This shampoo bar also leaves a glycerin conditioning in our hair. And, I add jojoba that is reported to repair damaged hair.

This recipe uses oils to create a super lathering bar, even in cold water; while being super moisturizing for dry skin at the same time.

All recipes are created for a reason, and this one is no exception. I have customers that have dry skin but do not enjoy a cocoa butter soap.

This recipe enjoys quite a bit of avocado oil which is said to be exceptional for dry and maturing skin. The other oils used provide a lot of big and bubbly lather and rinse cleanly. This bar leaves the skin feeling very silky soft after use.

This particular recipe adds an all natural flavor oil from one of my suppliers, called Mixed Berries. It is soooo good.

I also use pink ultramarine for the color.

Aloe butter is added for the extra lathering it seems to lend to a soap recipe.

Whipped Winter Butter, Jasmine and Coffee

This is the result of an idea I had a couple of months ago. I noticed one of my suppliers had both the jasmine floral wax and coffee butter on sale. I thought then that these two might complement each other. So, I pulled in the ingredients and created a mango butter recipe.

The reason I did not use shea was for the aroma. I use natural shea, and it has a very distinct odor of its own – some like it and some don’t. But, I knew it would affect the aroma I was going for – and I have been curious about whipped mango butter for some time, anyway.

This butter came out beyond my expectations. It makes my skin so very soft, and I do love the combination of aromas –it has a jasmine sambac high note and jasmine grandiflorum middle to base note with coffee base note.

Mango whips very creamy and light. And, a little bit goes a long way, so the butter will last a good time.

If you like jasmine and coffee, I think you would love this butter. Otherwise, you may want to check out my unscented whipped shea – it is divine in a fragrant free way, or check out my Bulgarian rose scented whipped shea.

ps. I don't like using wax in my butters. However, Jasmine sambac floral wax is used in this butter (it is simply divine!!!) in such small amount and only as wax with which to hold the jasmine essence, I have to be forgiven this slight. I think you will not find this hard to do once you have enjoyed some for yourself. :)

This is a cocoa butter bath soap that is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, gentle and mild.

My partner calls this bar "fudge ripple". But, since I do not name my soaps like that, I just couldn't do it. One day, I will have to do so.

But, it looks and smells like fudge ripple ice cream. It is a smooth, hard, and shiny bar that only cocoa butter can do to a soap.

It is a rich milk cocoa brown with dark cocoa brown swirled throughout. And, the vanilla fragrance oil I use is just awesome in a soap - smells so good.

Oh, this is the lip balm to smell again and again. I’ve tried chocolate mints from many different sources, but this one captures the chocolate as a top note with the mint as an underlying base note. It is just delicious.

This is a blend of hydrosols – flower and herb waters created by the steam distillation of plant material for essential oils.

Essential oils are the concentrate molecules that carry properties of the plant that are considered the active ingredients in a plant. The hydrosol has some of those molecules as well as inactive molecules of the plant. The active and inactive work together, imo, to minimize any possible side effects.

My face soaps are ingredient rich soap recipes even without the additives.

The face soaps are extremely kind to dry skin and are effective dry skin bath soaps.

My face soap is a gentle, very lathering with some creaminess, clean rinsing, and non-drying, oil-rich bar of soap. The skin feels clean, soft, smooth, and pliable when washed with it.

This particular face soap, Bergamot Spruce Green Tea, adds aloe vera, green tea powdered, buttermilk, more extra virgin olive oil, and essential oils of bergamot and spruce, which gives it a piney citrus aroma. This is quite an aromatic soap.

The green tea herb fills the soap with gentle exfoliates and gives it eye appeal. Green Tea is showing great results for skin in recent studies. This is reportedly a great face soap for normal to oily skin because of the extra virgin olive oil added at trace, as well as the essential oils of bergamot and spruce, green tea, and aloe vera.

Tea Tree Rosemary

This is a sunflower bath soap that is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, gentle and mild.

green tea infusion is added to this soap.

Research results favor green tea as a skin rich replenisher. Some results are showing green tea has 10 times more benefit to the skin than vitamin e. Wow! I use green tea in some of my products, and this soap is one.

I also add some sweet almond oil. It has a high concentration of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids.

Tea tree oil is added last. Many like the clean fresh scent of tea tree. It is definitely a unisex scent. And, it is said that tea tree oil offers many benefits to the skin, too.

My face soaps are rich soap recipes even without the additives, because of the butters and avocado oil used in the recipe.

The face soaps are extremely kind to dry skin and are effective dry skin bath soaps, as well.

My face soap is a gentle, very lathering with some creaminess, clean rinsing, and non-drying, oil-rich bar of soap. The skin feels clean, soft, smooth, and pliable when washed with it.

This particular soap, Rosemary, Parsley, & Honey, is wonderful alternative dry skin bath soap. I have a regular customer who does just that.

I use only extra virgin olive oil in all my recipes.

This is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, and moisturizing.

The best soap for acne skin is said to be the Castile pure olive oil soap sold under my Special Soaps section.

However, it is unscented without exfoliates and not much lather. And, many of us, including those with acne, like a soap that is scented, with exfoliates, and lathers like crazy.

This is my alternative soap for those with acne who want to use a different soap.

I chose yarrow and witchhazel for the reportedly astringent properties and the kindness it extends to our skin. Yarrow is also said to be disinfectant and antibacterial, naturally so. And, witchhazel leaves our skin very soft and is said to be antibacterial, too.

I also add a bit of organic extra virgin olive oil at the end, along with an essential oil blend that includes clary sage and a bit grapefruit.

It is a very herbal rich aromatic soap that I enjoy smelling very much, even with my non-oily skin!

The recipe for the base soap itself is intended for dry skin, and includes coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, canola oil, castor oil, palm kernel or babassu oil, shea butter, and avocado oil.

I use a recipe for this soap rich in apricot kernel oil. This oil benefits all skin types, but is especially kind to maturing skin. This is an idea from the internet. I looked through all my soap books, and there is no mention of salt soap.

My first salt soap was a trial and error soap I used and gave it away until it was gone. It was awesome for all the errors.

I made this one next knowing a lot more, and it came out so beautiful and useful, I knew I had to offer it for sale. My family used a sampler size of this batch until it was gone. In a home filled with almost a hundred varieties of soap, this is a rare occurrence. A month later, I find I have trouble using other soaps. I keep a full bar in my bath.

It is made with a high amount of coconut oil, which is said to be drying in soap at that percentage. However, when this soap is superfatted more than usual with added great superfatting oils of avocado and castor, it more than makes up for that.

It is a dense bar and very heavy. After 1-2 uses, it becomes rock hard and smooth on the outside, like a polishing stone.

It will last a bit longer than handmade soap without salt. It has a creamy lotion-like lather with extreme softening properties from the very fine sea salt. And, it smells wonderful!

To this particular sea salt soap, ultramarine for the deep lavender color was added, as well as a blend of lavender and rosemary essential oils. To this salt blend, I added a bit of Dead Sea salts. It is also interesting to note that salt acts as a scent fixative, and I have to admit the aroma of the salt soaps is medium to strong.

I think this would make an excellent winter soap for smoothing out all the winter bumps that comes with wearing so many clothes all the time, which prevents skin from "breathing".

Lip Balm, Citrus Wax

This has become my favorite lip balm. I had heard about orange wax but never even saw it until I ordered some a few weeks ago. It is a liquid wax, thicker than jojoba but not as thick as pine tar, though it is almost as dark as pine tar but with an orange tint to it.

I am also playing with mango butter more this year. It is an awesome butter, much like shea in its properties and qualities, but it almost has no odor. This makes mango butter more fun to work with regarding scents and aromatics.

I also use calendula in macadamia nut oil for just about every lip balm I make to include this most excellent and gentle skin care herb a part of our lip care regime. Calendula, says Rodale Reader’s Digest, Herbs, is a soothing antiseptic and an excellent skin healer.

I, personally, think this lip balm smells like I’m wearing orange peel on my lips but without the burn. It is very aromatic. The balm is a darker shade than I normally see in my balms, but this is due to the orange wax. There is a light coloring to the lips, a bit of a copper orange look. This is the balm I'm using this winter (and already).

Treat yourself this winter to oranges every day with this balm!

This is a very nice creamy off white soap, very hard and long lasting (if allowed to dry out between uses).

This soap makes the skin feel super soft, even if it doesn't produce a whole lot of lather. But, as with all olive oil soaps, the longer the cure, the more the lather. I work to send you a long cured olive oil soap.

Cocoa Butter Bath Soaps are made a bit richer in butter for dry skin. Ingredients for this soap are listed below.

This cocoa butter bath soap uses quite a bit cocoa butter in its recipe. It makes a rich bath soap. I add the same spices we would add to pumpkin pie. I use pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. I also add turmeric for its beneficial properties to our skin. This creates a very dark looking soap. It makes the soap quite exfoliating, too.

I then add essential oils of a blend to mimic the pumpkin pie spice. I add nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and ginger essential oils.

And, what makes this soap quite interesting is that it smells stronger and stronger with time like a pie would. It is also quite aromatic and makes the skin tingly when used in the bath.

This is one of my more popular bars. When customers ask me for a spice bar, I show them this one. It goes over very well.

Homemade natural soaps are mild and do not dry out the skin, anyway, but cocoa butter soaps provide a little extra in the bath. There are some oils and all butters that have molecules that will not turn into soap no matter what is done, according to Dr. McDaniels in his book on cold processed soap, and several other soap making authors. These molecules are in the soap, but they are not soap. These molecules are extra kind to the skin.

When someone wants to make a richer soap, they use at least some oils that have some of these rebellious molecules. The lye is decreased accordingly, and a very rich and extremely mild soap is made.

Cocoa butter has some of these molecules. So, this makes this soap a bit richer than my other bath soaps.

This is quite an exotic soap. I use a cocoa butter base, and then the fun begins. I use real amber essence in this soap. I know it is a resin, but I have made essences with resin before. I trust you may make a real resinous oil with amber.

I add aloe vera to this soap with extra cocoa butter. I then add the amber essence and amber fragrance oil with turmeric powder. It makes for a beautiful dark soap, as well as fragrant, lathering, clean rinsing, and creamy soap.

I use only extra virgin olive oil instead of mixing grades as I do in all other soaps but a few. The hair deserves a little extra attention, I think.

Coconut oil adds hardness and big bubbly lather; it also helps the shampoo to rinse cleanly quickly. Castor oil adds creamy and smooth lather. This shampoo bar also leaves a glycerin conditioning in our hair. And, I add jojoba that is reported to repair damaged hair.

This particular shampoo bar, Rosemary & Honey has historically been used for dark hair. The combination of additives I use also help with oily hair. Rosemary has historically been used to deal with lice. Parsley has historically been used for dandruff. And, honey is said to condition overworked hair.

This is a shampoo bar made for oily to normal scalps, skin, and hair.

This recipe eliminates castor oil and extra virgin olive oil that those with oily hair claim make their hair worse. So, I came up with one that still lathers great, but leaves little oil behind.

And, this recipe includes hemp seed oil, which is great in a soap/shampoo recipe for its emollient properties, slipperiness, and lather.

This is my version of a Gardener's Salve. I made it for those hands and feet that experience cracked skin upon extreme dryness. Those hands that work in dry soil, chemicals, a lot of water, etc., experience an extreme dryness from such exposure to said elements. This extreme dryness leads to the skin pulling so tight as to crack open and create painful wounds.

This is an avocado rich recipe for bath soap with added shea and mango butters. The longer I make soap, the better my new recipes become. This is a new recipe using palm kernel v. palm (better bubbly lather and hardness of soap bar), increasing the sunflower oil and using a hefty amount of avocado oil. Avocado oil makes a very rich bar of soap, but have to watch for softness of soap. Palm kernel helps with that so that I may use a nice amount of a rich oil.

To this lovely recipe, parsley and comfrey herbs are added. They add interesting eye appeal as well as act as mucilage for the skin – very soothing and softening. The butters perform the same function – softening to our skin.

This soap was made on request by a friend and co-farmer’s market member this summer. I am so glad I made it – it does not smell like either patchouli or lavender but something rather exotic. And, even though I enjoy bathing with it, I cannot help but think of a man’s cologne or aftershave as I use it.

Bath Soap, Pine Tar with emu oil

It is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, gentle and mild.

"Pine tar is said to be used extensively in the treatment of skin afflictions", says Burt's Bees Glossary online. I had already got this idea from Susan Miller Cavitch's book, The Soapmaker's Companion. I live in an area that appreciates old time remedies, and this is a steady seller.

I also add emu oil for its reported natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and skin regenerative properties. It is very high in oleic acid which is beneficial on its own enough so that no lotions that inflame skin conditions are necessary.

It smells very much like pine tar, even with essential oils used. But, a scent to which I grew familiar, and after a short time, does not put me off. It has a strong, clean smell to it now. :)

This is the result of an idea I had a couple of months ago. I noticed one of my suppliers had both the jasmine floral wax and coffee butter on sale. I thought then that these two might complement each other. So, I pulled in the ingredients and created a mango butter recipe.

The reason I did not use shea was for the aroma. I use natural shea, and it has a very distinct odor of its own – some like it and some don’t. But, I knew it would affect the aroma I was going for – and I have been curious about whipped mango butter for some time, anyway.

This butter came out beyond my expectations. It makes my skin so very soft, and I do love the combination of aromas –it has a coffee top and middle note and jasmine sambac is the base note.

Mango whips very creamy and light. And, a little bit goes a long way, so the butter will last a long time. I use mine everywhere...on my face, my lips, my arms and elbows, and love it on my feet.

If you like jasmine and coffee, I think you would love this butter. Otherwise, you may want to check out my unscented whipped shea – it is divine in a fragrant free way, or check out my Bulgarian rose scented whipped shea.

This soap seems to be very popular as a "wake-me-up" or invigorating scent in soaps. This soap is just a tad different than most. I add chocolate peppermint herb.

To a couple of cups of soap I take out (pouring the rest of the batch in the mold), I swirl in the finely crumbled dried chocolate mint herb. This gives the soap a chocolate tone to the peppermint, working well with the undeodorized cocoa butter in this soap. It is a very aromatic and slightly exfoliating soap.

This is a cocoa butter bath soap good for those with normal to dry skin. Peppermint, it is thought, is kind to dry skin.

I use real myrrh in this soap. I take the resinous herb and macerate it in extra virgin olive oil for a very long time. I use this oil in the recipe and add it again at the soap's trace. This makes quite a luxurious bar of cocoa butter soap.

I agree with other soap making authors, that the additives in a soap determine the finesse of a soap...and myrrh seems to make a soap richer, creamier, more lathering, and softens/soothes skin exceptionally well.

In addition, myrrh is said to be kind to maturing skin, cleaning well the pollution agents that tend to make us look older than we are.

I also add a little bit more cocoa butter to this myrrh soap, as well as myrrh skin care fragrance oil for the very mild exotic spicy aroma.

If you like a mildly spicy scented very mild bar of very rich soap, this is it.

I discovered that many handmade whipped butters contain wax. I thought, then, I may be able to offer a somewhat unique product: a Whipped Shea Butter without wax that you may use around your eyes with more confidence it will not rip skin cells.

This is a very rich product for the skin. It melts on contact and after some massage into the skin, it is not greasy anymore as it will have sunk in. The emu oil and jojoba both work toward this end. And, this butter leaves the skin feeling so soft and smooth lasting a long time.

A little goes a long way, this jar will last a long time.

I've had this particular butter used as a massage butter on my entire body neck to feet. It was sooooo good. It smelled wonderful, felt great, and by the time the massage was done, it had all sunk into my skin and left nothing greasy but just pure soft skin.

Sea Salt Soap, White Mint

This soap is made with a high amount of coconut oil, which is said to be drying in soap at that percentage. However, when this soap is superfatted more than usual with added great superfatting oils of avocado and castor, it seems to more than make up for that.

It is a dense bar and very heavy. After 1-2 uses, it becomes rock hard and smooth on the outside, like a polishing stone. It will last a bit longer than handmade soap without salt. It has a creamy lotion-like lather with extreme softening properties from the very fine sea salt. And, it smells wonderful!

To this particular sea salt soap, Epsom salts were added to the sea salt. Essential oils of peppermint and spearmint are used, as well. It looks and smells like Christmas peppermint candy. But, don't eat it. It is soap.

I think this would make an excellent soap for the feet. The oils of mints are considered a bit harsh for sensitive skin, and salt is mildly irritating to sensitive skin, too. So, when I made this, it was with the feet in mind. Sometimes, the feet need some extra attention. And, if you feel like continuing your day on into the night, washing your feet with the bar may be all the extra grooming you need to perk you back up.

Many of my Strawberry lip balm customers are girls, especially girl scouts. I've been fortunate enough to teach a class to a scout troop. It was fun!

This is a castile soap, which means to me, a soap made with only olive oil. I, personally, use extra virgin olive oil, but I think other olive oils are good, too. I make this soap primarily for my customers with acne or eczema, elderly skin, baby skin, and for those with sensitive skin.

I make one that is unscented and no herbs – just extra virgin olive oil, sodium hydroxide and purified water. To that soap, I add marsh mallow herb and it creates this soap.

I add the herb root water to the soap after a light trace. I’m looking to get all the goodness of the herb I can into this soap without much of it being affected by the lye.

This herb lends gentleness to an already gentle and mild soap. It seems extra kind to maturing and dry skin. It is still unscented (marsh mallow root has very little scent before making tea and after – and I find no scent in the bar upon curing). But, the olive scent of my Unscented Castile bar is not present either – a lighter “almost” sweet scent dominates.

The bar is also very silky smooth - more silky smooth hard than the unscented pure bar.

This soap was created at the request of an Etsy customer. She thought the two might make the best soap ever. If you like unscented olive oil soaps, you may think so, too. :)

I discovered that many handmade whipped butters contain wax. I thought, then, I may be able to offer a somewhat unique product: a Whipped Shea Butter without wax that you may use around your eyes with more confidence it will not rip skin cells.

This is a very rich product for the skin. It melts on contact and after some massage into the skin, it is not greasy anymore as it will have sunk in. The emu oil and jojoba both work toward this end. And, this butter leaves the skin feeling so soft and smooth lasting a long time.

And, best of all, no wax!

This listing is for a 2 oz. glass jar of Whipped Shea, Unscented. I call it unscented, because I add no essential oils (or fragrance oils) to this product. However, unrefined natural shea butter has a nutty scent of its own.

Comfrey is widely said to be good for bruised and sore joints; bone, deep muscle, and sprain pain. It is reportedly a pain reliever and speeds recovery. Comfrey is a natural source of allantoin. This offer is for a bath bar for most skin types. It is made with my rich apricot kernel oil recipe that includes sunflower and coconut oils. It is a very hard bar with abundant lathering properties. The parsley herb is added to one side to give it a slight layered look.

The essential oil used in this soap is cypress. I love this aromatic oil. It has a deeper note than pine, and it smells like I am in an evergreen wood.

The herb, parsley, is high on the list of cosmetic herbs. It is rich in vitamins A, B, and C, salts of iron, calcium, magnesium and chlorophyll. I've noticed most soap makers use just the chlorophyll extracted from the parsley. I might, too, if I didn't grow it. It is an excellent herb for the green color, but it is wonderful to the skin and hair, too.

Hemp seed oil is considered a conditioning oil when used in soap that adds nice creamy lather to the big bubbly lather of the soap recipe itself. So, this soap produces abundantly rich, thick and creamy lather.

The bar is silky soft to touch. It is attractive and aromatic for the winter season.

It is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, gentle and mild.

I make a patchouli soap for patchouli lovers. I don't blend my dark and aged patchouli oil with any other essential oil for scent in this soap. It is all patchouli.

And, since most of my patchouli customers are near my age, I add a bit of unrefined shea butter at the end of making this soap, as well as some aloe vera for some extra kindness to our skins. I powder lemongrass herb for the gentle exfoliate.

It's a pretty bar of soap. I think it is strongly scented, but it seems for the patchouli lovers, you cannot get it strong enough.

This is a very hard soap that is lathering, clean rinsing, gentle and mild. It is also a great unscented sunflower bath soap in general, as the jewelweed also releases beta carotene into the tea.

I add jewelweed tea to this recipe, along with a little organic extra virgin olive oil. It is a very simple and pure soap in its additives. I get a lot of good feedback from those who use it.

Several of my customers will take a bar home, cut it up in four pieces, and give three out to friends for emergencies.

This is a good soap to have on hand.

In very bad cases, people around here in northeast Tennessee wet the skin, and rub gently some of this soap on the affected area. They say it draws it out.

This recipes uses oils to create a super lathering bar, even in cold water; while being super mild for dry skin at the same time.

This recipes enjoys quite a bit of avocado oil which is said to be exceptional for dry and maturing skin. The other oils used provide a lot of big and bubbly lather and rinse cleanly. This bar leaves the skin feeling very silky soft after use.

This particular recipe adds comfrey in a big way - the leaf is powdered and added as exfoliates, and the root is made in to a decoction and added, too. I also have some aloe butter I added to this variety, along with some sandalwood fragrance. It has such a clean smell, and it is very popular at the farmer's market.

It is a nice, dark and aromatic bath soap said for dry and/or normal skin because of the mucilage of comfrey and aloe butter.

This marshmallow soap is different in this respect; this soap has homemade vanilla bean macerated in sweet almond oil added to it at the end of stirring it, as well as cocoa powder. It creates a very dark soap, and one that smells a little like homemade brownies without anything added for scent.

It is a soap rich in additives and lather and a pleasure to use on the face and body.

My marshmallow soaps are unique. I grow the herb myself and make my own root water and a couple of other things I'd rather not say. ;)

Lard was a staple, in the past, which was abundant and used often. The fat from the pig was rendered down, strained, and used to make soap, and lye was leached from wood ashes. They had a big day of making soap once or twice in the fall that would last them all year. Sometimes it came out really good, and sometimes it didn’t!

Here, where I reside, the local people remember someone in their family making soap when they were younger. If it wasn’t very good, I have a battle on my hands trying to convince them this soap made today is not, I repeat, not harsh. I say to them, “Making soap was an art back then; today, it is a science.” It matters not. Experience is hard to combat.

But, then there are others who remember “grandmother’s” soap more fondly. They love buying this soap. Although it is lard soap, it has enough coconut oil added to create a lathering soap, as an all lard soap is not known for its lathering making properties; but, it is more known for its conditioning properties. So, a bit of coconut oil is used to make a real nice lather for this soap.

I also add aloe vera to this soap at trace. Aloe vera and lard are compatible in providing softening and soothing qualities to soap. And, it is fragrance free.

The benefits of the above 5 oils are numerous. In all the reading I've hunted, it is popular today because of its supposed ability to kill virus germs, including the H1N1 virus. Cinnamon is showing in studies to be responsible for killing streptococcus germs.

I do know that these oils are very antiseptic and disinfectant.

This is a popular item at the farmer's market. It has many uses:

1. as a natural deodorant. A few sites recommended using this oil directly on our skin under the arms. With the cinnamon in it, you may want to dilute some of this oil with a carrier oil, such as sunflower or olive oil. 60 drops to an ounce of carrier oil would be very effective.

2. To wipe down many surfaces with this oil - countertops, toilet seats, toilet paper holders, well used appliances, etc.

3. A couple or three drops in a diffuser with some distilled water will disinfect a room.

4. A couple of drops in the rinse water of your laundry load would disinfect the laundry.

5. Put a couple of drops on a tissue and leave it on your desk at work will continue to disinfect your area.

This is a very light and creamy clay mask. The dry ingredients move like silk in the jar. The aroma is lightly herbal and earth-like. A very fine powder that works up into a smooth and creamy mask you may easily apply to your face.

Upon drying, it will easily wash off and leave your skin so very clean and feeling quite refreshed.

Use 1-2 teaspoons (depending on what you want to cover face down to neck) with a liquid your face enjoys (suggestions include aloe, any facial hydrosol, witch hazel, glycerin, warmed honey, vinegar, purified water, etc.). You may use gelatin for a "peel" mask.

I use a lot of olive oil for the face in this recipe. I use castor oil in plenty for the small creamy lather (coconut oil does the big bubbly lather). I add wheat germ oil, loaded with vitamin e, for the knicks and cuts our razors do to us!! And canola oil and cocoa butter for the richness that they add to the soap.

I add aloe vera and buttermilk to help smooth and soften face. Betonite clay to help make the razor more slippery, and menthol crystals are said to help with razor burn that ensues.

Essential oils of bay and a bit of tea tree which smells great. So great that women have bought this soap for their bath soap. Wow! It must be the Bay! It is a great soap for the shave or the body.

Sea Salt Soap, Lime style

This soap is made with a high amount of coconut oil, which is said to be drying in soap at that percentage. However, when this soap is superfatted more than usual with added great superfatting oils of avocado and castor, it more than makes up for that.

It is a dense bar and very heavy. After 1-2 uses, it becomes rock hard and smooth on the outside, like a polishing stone. It will last a bit longer than handmade soap without salt. It has a creamy lotion-like lather with extreme softening properties from the very fine sea salt. And, it smells wonderful!

To this particular sea salt soap, Dead Sea and Dendritic salts were added along with the lime essential oil and a bit of parsley to shade it green. It is also interesting to note that salt acts as a scent fixative, and I have to admit the aroma of the salt soaps is medium to strong.

I think this would make an excellent winter soap for smoothing out all the winter bumps that comes with wearing so many clothes all the time, which prevents skin from "breathing".

This is representative of the Old Fashioned Black Salve from our grandparents' time. Its active ingredients are activated charcoal powder and rhassoul clay, along with honey powder, shea and cocoa butters, beeswax, vitamin e, and extra virgin olive oil. I tweaked this by adding just a bit of calendula macerated in macadamia nut oil and a touch of wheat germ and jojoba oils.

I've read it tends to act by drawing toxins and toxics from the body, such as cuts, bites, stings, slivers...it draws out the poisons through a drying up process.

I had one customer tell me this salve helped her get rid of a very tiny sliver in the palm of her hand that had been there for quite some time. She applied it on her palm and left it on overnight. Her grandmother had the black salve on the window sill, and this customer remembers it being used and still believes in it.

Essential Oil Blend, Tooth Brush blend

Recipe is my own. I've been using this blend for my own teeth, and that of my son for two years. It is awesome and pure.

You may think this an odd listing, but many people are now searching for alternatives for brushing their teeth. There are so many chemicals in toothpaste not so good for us, it encourages this search.

My teeth are very sensitive. Toothpaste set them off everytime I brushed. I used salt water for a long time, but while it may have cleaned, there was nothing there for breath, occasional cavity pain, or the killing of germs.

So, I did a little research and came up with the above three oils to help with the above problems. I'm very pleased with it.

I use a cup of warm water and add 1 drop of this oil blend to it. I stir it with my toothbrush and brush my teeth. My breath is so clean afterward, as well as my teeth (peppermint). It seems to quiet my sensitive teeth and pain, too (clove bud), and it must be killing germs (lemon).

It is a very nice alternative for me and my ds. And, my partner, who has no real teeth, enjoys it as a mouthwash.

This recipes uses oils to create a super lathering bar, even in cold water; while being super moisturizing for dry skin at the same time.

All recipes are created for a reason, and this one is no exception. I have customers that have dry skin but do not enjoy a cocoa butter soap. Up until now, I've recommended my face soaps for their bath bars, because my dry skin soap recipes include quite a bit of cocoa butter added before the lye and at trace.

This recipes enjoys quite a bit of avocado oil which is said to be exceptional for dry and maturing skin. The other oils used provide a lot of big and bubbly lather and rinse cleanly. This bar leaves the skin feeling very silky soft after use.

This particular recipe adds colored jojoba beads that are purple and rose - giving the soap a pinkish hue. I added emu oil at trace, along with the essential oil blend of lavender and rose geranium.

It is a visual and aromatic bath soap appealing enough for all skin types but the most sensitive.

This is a recipe that creates a super lathering bar, even in cold water; while being super gentle and non drying to skin.

This recipe is heavy on apricot kernel oil which is an exceptional oil for sensitive skin and rich in vitamin A. Sunflower oil is an emollient with large amounts of vitamin E, nutrition for the skin and especially useful for oily skin. The other oils lend to the hardness, long-lasting, and high lather of this soap.

This particular Sweetgrass recipe adds a swirl of parsley for a very mild exfoliation and visual interest, as well as avocado oil for its abundant properties it lends to soap, and a synthetic fragrance oil of sweetgrass.

This is hand soap that functions beautifully as a bath soap.

Hand soaps are made to make lots of lather in cold water, rinse very cleanly, and leave the skin feeling rejuvenated and clean, without needing much moisturizing.

This soap does not look much like a pound cake, but that is what the aroma of this soap reminds me of. The poppy seed probably encourages that thought.

Lavender and lemon smell so good together. The poppy seed makes a great medium to strong exfoliate.

The additives of the soap are said to benefit oily skin, too.

I use Macadamia Nut Oil, because it is said to have the closest composition to our own watery substance that first appears after a cut or open wound happens. That watery substance is the first wave of healing molecules and compounds acting immediately to seal off wound and heal.

It is a light and non greasy type of oil. It is odorless as well, which makes this calendula oil odorless (calendula leaves no aroma in an oil). And, it is said to lend its healing properties to the reported healing properties of the calendula.

It is an easy oil to make if you grow Calendula flowers. Macerate the orange and yellow petals in an oil of your choosing for a few hours warm oven or on top of warm burner 6 to 8 hours. I make it with my own dried calendula petals.

This oil is gentle enough to use on the most sensitive skin, including the area of hemorrhoids. The herb and oil are said to eliminate the pain.

The jojoba in my oil serves to extend the shelf life of this product. But, this liquid wax is historically known to be beneficial to open and broken skin by helping to protect against infection. It is very likened to our own sebum.

This is a very solid bar of soap...I can slam this bar on the table, and it makes a very solid sound.

A hard bar is one that lasts a long time if allowed to dry out between uses.

This sunflower and apricot kernel soap recipe is gentle and mild enough for most skin types. Sweet almond oil is added at trace for some extra attention to oily skin.

Ultramarine is added for color interest - sometimes the batch will be swirled and sometimes solid color - same amount of ultramarine is used.

A natural flavor oil of vanilla mint is also added. This is so very fragrant, I have customers asking me to make products with this flavor oil. It is aromatic. A lip balm could be in the works... (;)

Another winter comfort soap. Especially kind for skins that tend to be oily.

I make a product that some of my customers enjoy as an insect repellent - and that is my Gardener's Salve and Salve Bar. I love the product but more for the reason I made it than as an insect repellent - it is a bit thick for me.

So, I make an oil for my use, and I find that several other customers enjoy it, as well.

I macerate my own catnip leaves in extra virgin olive oil and hemp seed oil. When I bottle it, I add a bit of jojoba for a longer shelf life and a thinner application.

It works so well for me in repelling no see-ums. And, this is one the studies seem to back up, esp. for mosquitoes and cockroaches. $7.85 for a 2 fl. oz. glass bottle of pure catnip oil, no fragrance or essential oils added, so that our young people may use it safely, too.
