Obama - A New Day Unique Art Print (Collector's Edition Poster - 22x28)

$40.00
This Obama print was created after I was inspired by the 2008 election results. It is the first print in a new series of WPA style prints. All prints are signed by the artist.

I'm blessed to say that I've sold over 500 to date out of a limited large size edition of 600.

The paper is thick, matte, 100% recycled (50% post-consumer waste) and resembles a fiber-based photo rag paper. Printed with soy-based inks. Eco-friendly!

MORE INFO:

I’m a newer graphic designer and I’ve been thrilled to already have such a great response of folks who have fallen in love with this design.

I created this design right after Barack Obama won the 2008 presidential election. The idea was to make a simple design that captivates both a true people’s election, with a humble, introspective new president-elect. I love Shephard Fairey's stuff, but wanted to create something very different.

Hope you like it!

Milk was considered the 'Mayor of Castro Street' and fought tirelessly for the rights of gays and lesbians after he moved to San Francisco. He was elected to the Board of Supervisors and served for 11 months before he and Mayor Moscone were assassinated by former supervisor Jack White.

This print was created in the WPA style of the 30's - when political posters were really popular.
The paper is thick, matte, 100% recycled (50% post-consumer waste) and resembles a fiber-based photo rag paper. Printed with soy-based inks. Eco-friendly!

MORE INFO:

I’m a newer graphic designer and I’ve been thrilled to already have such a great response of folks who have fallen in love my poster designs.

Hope you like it!

There is a push in the state of California to make May 22nd (Harvey Milk's birthday) Milk Day.
WPA Style Print - Cemeteries Are For The Living Too. ENJOY GREEN SPACE - 18x24 Archival

$35.00
Inspired as I am by WPA art, I’m continuing my own series of WPA style prints.

“Cemeteries are for the living too" is a print honoring green spaces as a wonderful multi-use green space for those of us still here.

The print is on archival, fiber-based photo rag paper.
It will be printed to order, individually and signed and numbered by me.

It is 18x24, a standard frame size.

HISTORY OF THE PRINT:

This print was modeled after my neighborhood cemetery in Oakland, CA. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the same guy who designed Central Park in NYC and the aboretum where I went to college. There are fountains, ponds, hills, green spaces, interesting tombs, pauper’s graves along with those of Ghiradelli and the San Francisco elite of yesteryear. These days people walk their dogs, stroll their babies, picnic, nap, run, bike and generally use it as a beautiful, tranquil park. There is something beautiful about bringing life to a space that is meant for those not alive.

HISTORY OF THE WPA:

In the 1930's as a part of the New Deal, Roosevelt created the WPA - The Works Progress Administration, employing many unemployed folks, including artists. I love how WPA posters were the equivalent of public service announcements of the 30's. They served multiple purposes - providing jobs to artists during the depression and community conscious advertising. The posters supported Victory Gardens, health care, our national parks and taking safety precautions at work. The art work is a dignified, simple style - putting the power in the strength of the images and words. The New Deal and the WPA provided thousands of important, creative jobs for the unemployed or underemployed. I believe that this program that is much needed today.

Si Se Puede. Barack Obama. Yes We Can. limited tshirt celebrating Obama's election

$22.00
What was made pre-election to help support Obama is now a great reminder that we can make change in this country. Obama uses the phrase 'yes we can' which was the chant of the United Farmworkers during their struggles in the 1960's. It is a chant of social action, of coming together to better the world.

We can only hope that with his election, we'll all get to continue to make things better. This t-shirt is unique, I haven't seen anything else with the phrase 'si se puede', but it's a must have for folks who recognize the importance of that phrase.

All t-shirts are sweatshop free American Apparel.

Sizes are:
Mens S-XL
Womens S-XL

Colors:
burnt red on baby blue
burnt red on creme
burnt red on white

Please make sure to specify:
color of shirt
mens or womens style
size
There's nothing like feeling at home in a city that you love. When you live in a city and love in a city, chances are that you've come to love the city. That's how I feel about Oakland, CA.

This is a grey t-shirt with a simple design of birds flying around text. I like creating designs that spread the urban history love.

American Apparel - sweatshop free t-shirts

Sizes are:
Mens S-XL
Womens S-XL

Please specify what size you'd like.
