This image is a one-of-a-kind hand pulled print onto archival Rives BFK paper. This is not a reproduction. This is considered a reductive monotype in that I roll the whole plate with black ink and then “draw” into it with rags, cards, fingers, etc. to achieve the whites and grey tones. Once I feel the image is complete I lay a piece of dampened paper onto the plate and roll it through the press I keep at home. Now all the ink has transfered onto the paper and the image is in reverse. This will be the only print I can pull. Once dry I may go into the print and hand colour it with chalk pastels.

In this image I was trying hard to capture the look of the water and fish as if I were swimming as one of them.

The term collograph print means that I created the plate myself in layers with various materials. The plate is constructed from matboard, glue, varnish, x-acto cuts, and carborundum. The various textures are what creates the varying tones. The varnish lets the ink wipe clean (light areas) while the carborundum holds the ink onto the plate (dark areas).
Once I printed the edition on archival paper in black and white, I hand coloured each one with watercolour. Because each is hand-coloured they vary slightly from one another.

This image is created with reference to old tapestry and textile designs. Almost like an antiqued heraldic flag.

This is my little pig painting that I am rather fond of. I've been watching Charlotte's Web quite a bit as of late and this looks just like it could be a "Wilbur".

For the original painting I was working on some ideas for some children's book illustration. I painted this on smooth board which gave me the opportunity to apply the same techniques I use in my reductive monotypes. The darkest areas of the image are really the underpainting that I've scraped and "pulled" out.

The reproduced image is printed on archival Hahnemhule paper with high quality inks on a Canon Pro9000 printer. The colors are saturated and the detail is extemely fine. The print will be signed.

From a quick drawing in my sketchbook.
All set for snow but unprepared for a snowball fight with those glasses...

This is an original watercolor monotype done on archival paper. To achieve this print I paint an image onto a plexi-glass plate that has been rubbed down with gum arabic. I let the painting dry completely and put the plate on my press and run it through with a dampened piece of rag paper on top. The water in the paper reacts with the gum arabic and releases the pigment onto the paper. This will be the only image I can pull.

I have to admit it...this piece is taken from an Arthur Rackham illustration. I find his illustrations so wonderful and I tried to see if I could mimic the characters he created. I was wanting to create a more illustrative effect with my monotypes so I thought I would use this image as a trial. What do you think?
Faces are particularly hard to do in print format as any flaw is magnified once it's printed. That is why many artists use a mirror to look at their work .

Sometimes the long lost relatives are the most unusual...

This is an original collograph print and is not a reproduction. A collograph is printed from a plate that has been constructed from various materials. Different materials glued onto the base (usually matboard) hold onto different amounts of ink which in turn creates the variety of tones. Carborundum can help create blacks while areas with varnish will create whites. Once the edition is printed I like to hand color each print with watercolor.

This is a collage I did about my relationship with my husband. Not long after getting married we made all sorts of plans to travel to all sorts of countries together. Like the butterflies who migrate great distances, we too have ventured to Cuba, Mexico, and the east coast of Canada. As of yet, our dream of seeing Europe together hasn't come true but we still have many wonderful years to go.

I always tend to make up a story about the image that I'm working on and this was no exception. As I worked on this print I imagined that these were the "most favoritest" shoes of a little girl named Millie and that she would love to get dressed up in a pretty spring dress to show them off.

What if there were some wasps that thought their paper nests needed a decorative touch?

This is an original watercolor monotype done on archival Rives BFK paper. To achieve the print I paint an image onto a plexi-glass plate that has been rubbed down with gum arabic. I let the painting dry completely and put the plate on my press and run it through with a dampened piece of rag paper on top. The water in the paper reacts with the gum arabic and releases the pigment onto the paper. This will be the only image I can pull. I then added some decorative tissue paper to the paper surface.

This particular print comes with a lovely acid-free off-white matt cut to11"x10" for easy framing.

I love doing animal imagery and this one is of a protective goose that just might give you a pinch if you come too close.

This image is a one-of-a-kind print hand-pulled onto archival Rives BFK paper. This is an original and is not a reproduction. The process used is called a reductive monotype in that the whole plate is rolled thickly with ink and the image is "drawn" into the ink with cards, rags, fingers, etc. So all the blacks are established first and the greys and whites are pulled out after. This is usually called a painterly print in that only one print can be pulled and it lends itself to immediate and spontaneous mark making. Unlike a painting though, any mistakes made can not be corrected once the print is pulled.

As this is a larger piece the shipping price is currently an estimate. I will ship the print flat and in a protective and sturdy mailer.

This quirky little drypoint is from a drawing in one of my sketchbooks. I saw this as a hunting dog's eager attempt at "disguising" itself to catch its prey.

This hand-pulled print was created on a tin plate and was printed on archival Rives BFK paper. After the print was dry, I hand-coloured each one with watercolour. Because of this, each print varies slightly.(v.e). This is an original and is not a reproduction.

This image was based upon a cork-stop I had given my husband for his birthday one year. The couple had a lever in their back which would make them turn towards each other and look as though they were kissing. I liked how they seemed so sad yet so loving.

Different materials glued onto the base (usually matboard) hold onto different amounts of ink which in turn creates the variety of tones. This print is a one-of-a-kind image called a monotype. The process I used for this print involves rolling up a steel plate with thick black ink which I then "draw" into with cards, rags and fingertips. I do this to create the grey and white areas. This is considered a reductive print because the darks are established first and the whitest areas are achieved last. After I think my image is complete, I lay a dampened piece of rag paper on top and roll it through my press. The result is a black and white mirror image. This is a singular print and any mistakes can not be changed. Some consider this process to be "paintings on paper".Once my print was dry I went back into it with chalk pastels to add colour.

I have really been enjoying the process of adding colour to my monotypes in this way and I really have more ideas in my head than the time to do them.

The print will be shipped flat with a sturdy backing board and in a protective mailer.

Do you know the "Flower Fairies" by Cicely Mary Barker? Although I don't attempt to come anywhere near those creatively rendered fairies, I think they were probably part of the inspiration for this painting.

This print is of a little skeleton cupid that I had done in watercolour. One of Lucifer's messengers flying out from the depths of hell? Ahhh, cute!

This is an original watercolor monotype done on archival paper. To achieve this print I paint an image onto a plexi-glass plate that has been rubbed down with gum arabic. I let the painting dry completely and put the plate on my press and run it through with a dampened piece of rag paper on top. The water in the paper reacts with the gum arabic and releases the pigment onto the paper. This will be the only image I can pull.

This image was based upon a cork-stop I had given my husband for his birthday one year. The couple had a lever in their back which would make them turn towards each other and look as though they were kissing. I liked how they seemed so sad yet so loving.

This small drypoint was created on tin and handpulled onto archival Rives BFK paper. After printing each print was hand-coloured with water colour. Because they are hand coloured, each print varies slightly. (v.e.) This is an original print and is not a reproduction.

This print was created during a time when I was very eager to own my own home. I thought that my wish to have the little home with the yard and picket fence was so basic that is was a cliche. Although I would still love a home we could call all ours, I have a different set of items that would catch top prize.

The plate in a collograph is different than that of an etching in that it's created by hand and with layers. My collographs are usually made from a mattboard base with the additon of gesso, mediums,carborundum, paper, fabric etc. to create textures and shapes. Depending on the materials used depends on how well the plate is able hold onto ink after being wiped down. Numerous test prints and adjustments are made before a good range of tones can be established.

This small editioned archival print is hand-pulled onto Arches paper with Charbonelle ink.
After the print was dried I hand-coloured it will watercolours.Because of this each print is slightly different and is considered to part of a varied edition. This is an original and is not a reproduction.
The print is sold unmatted and will be shipped flat with sturdy backing in a protective mailer.

This little guy is off and running to tell the others some important news...

This monotype is a bit different from my usual ones in that it's printed onto archival moonpalace paper and uses a slightly different technique. For this print I roll a stainless steel plate thickly with black ink and then lay a piece of paper on top. I draw onto the paper the image and then maybe use varying pressure with my fingers or a wooden spoon to create some tonal areas. When I am done I lift the paper and my print is on the other side. I only print one.

La Lune is part of a monotype series I've been working on based on moon images. I've been intrigued by stages of the moon and the "faces" we see in it. You can always create a mystical story around the moon, can't you?

This image is a one-of-a-kind hand pulled print onto archival Rives BFK paper. This is not a reproduction. This is considered a reductive monotype in that I roll the whole plate with black ink and then “draw” into it with rags, cards, fingers, etc. to achieve the whites and grey tones. Once I feel the image is complete I lay a piece of dampened paper onto the plate and roll it through the press I keep at home. Now all the ink has transfered onto the paper and the image is in reverse. This will be the only print I can pull. Once dry I may go into the print and hand colour it with chalk pastels.

The print will be carefully shipped flat in a protective mailer with a sturdy backing board. Shipping and insurance will be included. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

This image reminds me of how when I was younger I had taught myself how to"melt" out of my bad dreams and awaken without being harmed by any "boogiemen".
