medium cherry bowl

$50.00
This cherry wood bowl has mild figure with a couple of spalting spots that add visual interest. A large knot goes through one side of the bowl which looks very interesting and unique.

The wood is lightly figured and comes from a medium sized mountain cherry tree formerly standing proudly in my backyard, but laid low by a bad ice storm. I cut the wood personally, and it had been air-dried for four years.

The piece would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry arrangements inside. It would also serve as a small classic fruit bowl.

This piece was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil. The glossy oil finish will last many years and is easily refreshed with another light coat of tung oil if it ever slightly loses its sheen. Just as with any fine wood furniture, avoid contact with water and other liquids. The bottom of the piece has a small cross and my initials wood-burned into it.

Approximate dimensions: 2 1/2" high, 9 1/4" rim, 4 1/2" base

We ship by USPS Priority Mail so that you will receive your treasured items quickly.

We take care to package all items so that your purchase will not arrive damaged. However, we cannot be responsible for the carrier's handling of items. If you are concerned that your item will arrive safely, we encourage you to add insurance to your item when purchasing. Please see our policies section for more details.

This plate was made 11 years ago, and has my initials and a cross along with “97” wood burned into the back.

The wood is an excellent deep red mahogany which I salvaged in person from left-overs of a carpentry shop in Bolivia, South America almost 30 years ago. My wife thought I was nuts for filling a suitcase with wood and bring it back…and the customs agents were a little surprised too…but they let me bring it in, and I have slowly used it up.

The piece would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry arrangements.

This piece was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil.
natural edge spalted maple bowl

$95.00
This maple bowl has a natural edge, heavy flame figure on the upper three inches around the rim, and heavy spalting through the entire bottom. It looks just fabulous from any angle, both inside and out.

The wood is heavily figured, and came from a very big and ancient maple tree which was blown over in a friend’s farm field. The tree was hollow, and heavily spalted in spots. My friend is also a woodworker, but my chain saw is bigger than his, so he agreed to split the wood with me if I would help him cut it up into manageable sizes.

The piece would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry arrangements inside. It looks so interesting though, that you might not want to put anything in it.

This bowl was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil. The glossy oil finish will last many years and is easily refreshed with another light coat of tung oil if it ever slightly loses its sheen. Just as with any fine wood furniture, avoid contact with water and other liquids. The bottom of the piece has a small cross and my initials wood-burned into it.

The bowl has a slightly elliptical shape, with the longer dimension approximately 9" and the shorter dimension approximately 8" at the top edge. The base is circular and 4" in diameter. The bowl is approximately 7" at the tallest point. The sides are 3/8" thick.

I made it more than 16 years ago, and it bears my initials under a cross and the year “1992” wood-burned into the back.

The fine-grained walnut wood was part of a variety of small left-over wood pieces that came from my grandfather’s woodshop.

This bowl would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry arrangements. It would make an excellent jewelry catch-all on a bedstand.

This piece was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil. The glossy oil finish will last many years and is easily refreshed with another light coat of tung oil if it ever slightly loses its sheen.
small cherry plate 30

$10.00
This is a small display plate cut from some leftover mountain cherry wood which my father gave me for a different project. The wood comes from my father’s farm in Pennsylvania, and it was cut and dried at my cousin’s mill. It has a wonderful figure and is very interesting to look at. The plate was made 11 years ago, and has my initials and a cross along with “97” wood burned into the back.

The piece would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry arrangements.

This piece was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil. The glossy oil finish will last many years and is easily refreshed with another light coat of tung oil if it ever slightly loses its sheen. Just as with any fine wood furniture, avoid contact with water and other liquids. The bottom of the piece has a small cross and my initials wood-burned into it.

Approximate dimensions: 6 1/2" wide x 3/4" high

We ship by USPS Priority Mail so that you will receive your treasured items quickly.

We take care to package all items so that your purchase will not arrive damaged. However, we cannot be responsible for the carrier's handling of items. If you are concerned that your item will arrive safely, we encourage you to add insurance to your item when purchasing.
natural edge walnut vase

$55.00
This wide black walnut vase has a very pleasing shape and an interesting irregular grain pattern. It has a natural edge and looks beautiful from any angle.

The fine-grained black walnut wood came from a very big and very old tree cut down as part of a local road project. The property owner let me have the wood as long as I would just get it out of his yard, so I cut it up and it has been air-drying for more than ten years.

The vase would be appropriate for display as-is or with dry flower arrangements.

Approximate dimensions: 8" high, 6" rim, 5 1/4" base

We ship by USPS Priority Mail so that you will receive your treasured items quickly.

We take care to package all items so that your purchase will not arrive damaged. It looks just gorgeous from any angle, both inside and out, and is one of my best pieces.

The wood is heavily figured, and came from a very big and ancient maple tree which was blown over in a friend’s farm field. The tree was hollow, it had a lot of burls through the trunk, and it was heavily spalted in spots.

This piece was cut and sanded on a wood lathe, then fine-sanded and finished by hand with multiple coats of tung oil. The glossy oil finish will last many years and is easily refreshed with another light coat of tung oil if it ever slightly loses its sheen.
