Joy is in your heart even when happiness isn’t. That’s a comforting thought. Your circumstances may seem less than wonderful but you can still take joy in small things. This would make a nice gift for someone going through a hard time or as a reminder to yourself that there’s beauty in the darkest day.

I adhered a piece of the yellow pages on a mat board and painted over it. Then I drew JOY, colored it with markers and embellished it with "jewels" and adhered it over the paper.

Candy corn flowers make a cute fall bouquet on a rustic front porch. The porch, tree and stems I painted with acrylics, the pumpkin started life as an earring and the flowers are little paper candy corn arranged as petals with lime green buttons in the center. The base is a piece of tan mat board.

The last picture shows the depth of the pumpkin. Even though it’s relatively thick, the ATC still fits in a protective plastic sleeve.

Paradise started life as an experiment with molding paste on mat board. I did some water color dripping on the dry molding paste and created an orange/gold background. I added the flowers, leaves and word, then framed it all with a gold leaf pen. After that, I added a little bling with orange jewels. A great reminder in the dead of winter that better times are coming!

“White Space, a place for the eye to rest” is a common design concept that basically means you don’t have to fill every space with stuff--leave a little empty space to give meaning to the beautiful things you have. But in this case, I meant literally, give the Eye a white space to rest!

I found some nice furniture and accessories for Eye and let her rest right in the middle. She looks happy, doesn’t she? This would be a cute gift for a friend who considers herself a Designer or for someone who appreciates a play on words.

I cut out some furniture and accessories and Eye from magazines and adhered them to mat board. Then I printed out the words and adhered them, added a layer of varnish for protection and once that dried, gave the edges a sweep with a gold leaf pen for a classy finish.

I went through a period this summer making clothes silhouettes. And I’m not finished yet! Here is Stripe Sky, a cute skirt set and old fashioned overalls, dancing in a blue sky. I mixed up a custom color for the sky and painted it on a mat board. Puffed on some clouds of acrylic paint with a cotton ball. And cut out the clothes and sun.

I went through a period this summer making clothes silhouettes. And there’ll be more to come! Here is Baby Sky, a coverall, a onesie and a cute dress, all romping around in a blue sky. I think the paper patterns for each outfit really make you smile. I mixed up a custom color for the sky and painted it on a mat board. Puffed on some clouds of acrylic paint with a cotton ball. And cut out the clothes and birds.

Lets Dance ATC ACEO

Let’s Dance was created as a challenge for the Thursday Sweet Treat blog. What I like best about dancing and skating shows are the costumes, so that was my inspiration.

I took a piece of mat board and sketched out the costume. The texture of the dress was produced with light molding paste, on which I sprinkled glitter while it was still wet. I used my computer to print out the words and added even more glitter around the edges.

The Four Disagreements Artwork

Now, don’t get me wrong! The Four Agreements has been a blessing in my life. But I couldn’t resist the play on words. This would be a great gift for your most cynical friend! Or a reminder that will make you laugh on a very bad, not good day.

Using paint and gesso, I painted the background on a canvas mat board. Then I created the wording on, well, Word, and adhered that to some pretty paper, which then got adhered to the canvas. It measures 5” x 7” (12.7cm x 17.78cm) and you can frame it or prop it on an easel.

I love pattern and color and it shows in this ATC. Different papers, a big ole earring and glass and silver embellishments make this a true study of shape, color and arrangement. Mounted on a blue mat board in the standard ATC size, 2 ½ x 3 ½”. There is some dimension to the earring but it fits easily into a plastic sleeve.

I took a vintage piece of jewelry and some sparkly things and created a girlfriend any robot could love. Lots of twirly wires and shiny plastic gems on a striped paper that brings out the Bling.

I usually pack my ATC’s in a plastic sleeve but this little gal required some snipping to fit, so you get the protection of the sleeve, with a slit to halfway down the middle. Certificate of Authenticity on the back.

Here’s another goofy play on words. I heard someone on a TV show say, “The stakes had never been higher”. And here’s my visual!

The mountains are from a magazine, the steaks are from the computer and I created the words in , uh, Word… Adhered everything to mat board, then varnished it for a little shine and a lot of protection.

Peace, Man 2 Inchies Original ATC ACEO

2008 is the 50th anniversary of the Peace Sign. So here’s my second contribution to it’s celebration. To create this ATC, I cut out six inchies, painted each a primary color, then drew the Peace Sign on each one. Much like my company logo, it’s a color rectangle (as opposed to a color wheel). I finished it off by painting a black border.

Peace signs make everyone smile and never get old. Along with the Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the ATC, you’ll also get a brief history of the Peace Sign. My ATC’s come in a plastic sleeve for protection.

Black and White and Red All Over ATC ACEO Original

This Artist Trading Card features a frame made from my favorite black polka dot paper. The groovy 60’s girls are from an old sewing book. I dismantled an earring for the embellishment. All are mounted on a red mat board in the standard ATC size, 2 ½ x 3 ½”. There is some dimension to the earring but it fits easily into a plastic sleeve.

Signed Certificate of Authenticity decorates the back.

Swinging in Polka Dot Land Artwork

For a while I was on a dress mission. Don’t even ask why--who knows why artists get mini-obsessions…

First, I painted a 5” x 7” (12.7cm x 17.78cm)canvas board bright sky blue and fresh grass green and made clouds from paint on cotton balls. Then I cut out the polka dot dresses from paper, along with the wild life (birds, cat and butterflies). Once everything was adhered, I gave it a good coat of varnish to protect it. My original vision had the dresses hanging on a line but once I started playing with the shapes, I realized it was so much more fun for them to be dancing on their own!

One word on the photo(s)--for some reason, I can’t get the color quite right… I don’t know why the polka dots on the green dress are coming out yellow--they’re not yellow, they’re white… I’ve tried to photograph this several times with a light box and most of the color is pretty true except for that dang green dress. I think this is the best I’m gonna get!
