A continuation of the Irish theme.

What was I thinking? Twee Irish buses with hearts & clovers & puffs of cute exhaust fumes?

I went to college in Ireland and made a very silly little animated film in 2002 called "Bus Drivers in Love." If you google it you can watch it if you want. Everybody knows the iconic British red double-decker buses - but here I've made nice Oirishy green ones as an alternative.

The colors are sampled from the Spoonflower LAB palette.

So I was listening to some Altan (fantastic, authentic Irish Traditional band) last night and inspiration struck.

There may be boozy fabric out there - Oh you know, pink martinis or bottles of beer or the like - but I'm pretty sure that there's no homage to my favorite alcoholic drink out there! In fact, it's extremely hard to come by a proper Hot Whiskey in this country!! (i.e. US of A)

Oh, and here's how I make hot whiskey:

I start with a shot of Jameson in a mug, I add boiling water as if I was making tea - then you need a slice of lemon with some cloves stuck in it to float around in the glass - maybe 5-7 cloves. (I only show 1 clove in the pattern for aesthetic reasons.) And then you stir in some sugar. And then all you have to do is curl up and enjoy it!

This is my first crack at Steampunk. I know, there ought to be more cogs, gears, and flying contraptions but the sad reality is that I couldn't find any copyright free ones to use in the collage!

Up until this particular design everything I've made has been drawn digitally. These little ladies however were drawn with pen & ink, scanned, and arranged in the computer. I am really pleased with it as pen & ink is my favorite media to work with and it responds totally differently than drawing with a wacom tablet.

For those who don't know, it was written sometime between 1450-1520 in a mysterious (probably totally made up) coded language, and it's filled with little drawings of naked ladies in pools, astrology stuff, and lots and lots of botanical drawings. The flower in this pattern is based on one of the Voynich Manuscript flowers.

Photoshop File Swedish Folk Embroidery Style Clip Art

Looking for some Swedish Folk Art elements for your personal, non-commercial, non-profit use? Scrapbooking, personal website, club or church newsletter?

Do you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements - and do you know how to use layers & drag them into new files?

These pretty, Swedish folk-art embroidery-style elements come in 2 colorways - blue and red. It comes with little flowers and handy Swedish phrases for different holidays & occasions.

Each element in this .psd file comes rasterized on its own layer ready to be dragged into whatever new file you want to use it in. The layers of pictures are in one folder, and the layers of words are in another. They're all labeled, and the Swedish word elements are labeled in English.

The canvas size is 8.5x11 but the individual elements are various sizes - They are roughly at least 6 inches tall or wide (but size does vary) and the dpi is 150.

They are not vector images so they are not infinitely resizable - however, they are decent size for scrapbooking use (A4, Letter, Legal, or Tabloid size) and good for web use. But be aware that they won't scale up to poster size without degrading quality.

This file was made in Photoshop CS2 and was saved to be compatible with previous version of Photoshop. I have never used Photoshop Elements but I have seen it used on Crafting shows on PBS and it has layers so I *believe* it will work.

If in doubt, don't purchase it - because of the nature of computer files, once I have sent it to you it is non-refundable. I will send you the file to whatever email address you specify within 72 hours of payment. Probably sooner! :))

(If you know offhand that photoshop elements definitely won't open a CS2 file with layers & layers & folders - feel free to convo me to let me know so I can be advised of that :))

The reason I am offering them in this form is because it seems to be the neatest, simplest way to provide a lot of images in 1 tidy file with an alpha (transparency) channel.

But that means you do need to know how to use Photoshop to use this file. It's pretty straightforward, but if you find the next few directions too confusing, then this file is probably not for you.

Here is a rundown of how to use them:

Open the file. Make sure your layers panel is open. (Window>Layers)

Inside the layers panel you'll see 2 folders - Flower Designs & Swedish Words

Click on one of the folders to expand it - you'll see all the layers listed (I made them all invisible except for one)

To see them you'll need to click the eyeball thingie.

To drag an element from a layer into a new Photoshop file, make sure the eye is clicked on and make sure the layer you want is highlighted by clicking on it in the layer list.

Then, you just use the pointer arrow to drag the layer into your new open file.

So! Pretty easy stuff :)

There are a total of 30 images you can use for any personal, non-commercial, or non-profit use. They are non-exclusive so as many people as have a hankerin' for some Swedish style can buy them!
