I've been wanting to make items for horses for awhile, and out of necessity began making these. They have been a huge hit at my barn and I'm excited to offer them to the equestrians of etsy-land.

These tags can be used to label halters, blankets and sheets, bridles, saddles...really anything you own. Great for gift-giving too -- horse people always like "stuff" for their horses!

1" copper discs feature a handmade sterling horseshoe on one side and your horse's name on the other. I can fit most anything within reason on a tag, but if you have an exceptionally long name for your pony convo me to check first. A base metal split ring is included and at 15mm will fit over most hardware.

I ship once per week! If you need these by a certain date, please contact me first. These are (obviously) a made to order item and will take up to a week to fabricate.

Some people think you miss out on nature growing up in a city.

I think you see it even more.

I grew up in Minneapolis. We had a little fenced-in backyard complete with overgrown raspberries and lots of dirt. Sometimes we had tiny carrots that sprouted up from the earth. Sometimes I stood between my neighbors' garages and ran my fingers along the wild grape vines, trying to resist the urge to peel them off of the walls. Big bushes of peonies bloomed under my window with an abundance of ants to keep them company and trees as old as time filled my neighborhood.

The world was mine, and every creek and lake and piece of green was a part of it.

This pendant is a cluster of a silver garden, perhaps as I imagined the secret gardens of my dreamworlds in my youth. A lovely lavender colored slab of chalcedony sits in the center, ruffled by foliage and ant trails and a vine-encompassed bail. The back of the pendant sports a little tab with my initials. Topped off with a simple chain (17") and a handmade clasp.

Pendant measures 1 1/2" long and 2" across.

A layered collage of metal and stone, completely one of a kind.

Each piece has a story.

The muddy brown of this Chinese turquoise is perhaps not for everyone, but I happen to think it's earthy tones are quite lovely. It reminds me of sifting through mud once upon a time to find nuggets of gold.

Not that I've been gold digging. Or really know what's involved....not unless Camp Snoopy's gold digging activity was at all similar to its real-life old west counterpart.

14k gold nugget hangs fixed to a link in the oxidized chain, just a hair's distance from the turquoise. Finding a little treasure in the mud.

Teeny tiny organic poppies on posts for your ears. Yes.

These little guys were hand-sawed, slightly domed/shaped, textured, topped with a wee little silver ball and put on posts. Oxidized, tumbled for strength and shine, and brushed a bit to bring out more of the detail. Complete with sterling backings.

Rustic Circle Necklace

Hammered circle is stamped with dots and holds a 3mm garnet of deep, rich red at the bottom. All has been oxidized, tumbled, and brushed to a satin finish to show depth and detail.

18" chain is finished with a handmade clasp. All joints are soldered.

I live in a town that randomly sprung up in the midst of prairies and corn fields. I can drive less than 10 minutes and buildings disappear; the sky meets the earth, the fireflies sing a silent song among the soybeans, the horses quietly rustle and chew their hay.

The Midnight Ring is composed of sterling and fine silver and a GEMMY GEMMY sodalite cabochon. I can get lost in the deep blue of this stone, it is stunning, calming and has great depth.
A dotted bezel encases the stone and a single stamped pebble of silver accents the ring. All is set on an extra wide band that measures a 7.5 but fits my 6.5 finger just dandy.

A little j stamped signature sits on the bezel back.

Two cratered moons circle this planetary stone that melts from earthy brown into a soft green.

I've been working from words lately. Words and songs and opening up to things I knew once upon a time, but perhaps had forgotten for awhile.

Suzy Q Earrings

Q is for quartz of the dusty, lightest pink rose version.

These are a similar concept to the Suzy earrings (with vintage beads) but rather than vintage, we've got some genuine made by the earth rose quartz beads. Paired with patinaed silver to pop!

At the age of 8 my mother let me loose in a bead store, and so it began.

While I've mostly replaced my bead addiction with a cabochon addiction, I still occasionally get the itch to shop at the local bead store for the full experience. The trays, the tiny plastic baggies, the sharpie markers...it leaves me happy as can be and usually several beads richer.

Deciding it was about time I started making stuff with my beads coincided with deciding it was about time I taught myself how to wire wrap. I know...who doesn't know how to do that? I was always a soldering kind of girl, though.

Anyway, the Suzy Q earrings. A lovely collision of worlds - smithing and beading. My handmade 'squared' ear wires and wire wrapped lightest of dusty pinks faceted rose quartz beads, whew!

Spring Ring

Here, spring doesn't last very long.

One day the buds are slowly pushing their way out of the dirt and melting snow towards the sun, the next you are mowing your jungle of a lawn and swimming in the lake.

We do extremes best, I suppose.

No matter, this ring is dedicated to all things spring: the first day you can wear just a t-shirt outside, the days of never-ending rain showers, the crossing your fingers and hoping that you've seen the last snow for a very long time because it's about time things turned green again.

The center of this piece is a bright green oval of prehnite, with a few dark green inclusions that look just like freshly mowed blades of grass. A single bud grows out of 2 generous silver pebbles and silver dots along the top keep everything freshly watered.

The band is VERY wide and measures a size 7 -- due to the width it will fit TIGHT, about a full size smaller!

I like lumpy (NOT MUMPY) pumpkins. And round-like stones.

It's not like I ever stop loving jewelry, but this piece made me fall in love all over again. It responded beautifully to a soft, calculated touch. Character was built as the layers piled on. It felt familiar while making it, like an old friend.

Though petite in stature, it stands alone. It holds more of me than anything I've made to date. It involved a lot of jumping in head first and figuring things out as I went along...how I work best.

To top it off, Burro Creek jasper. In the most sweet of lavender hues and diminutive size. Flocked with a peacock of a tail on the left and 3 sweet little spots of silver on the right.

Southwest necklace

It seems as though every metalsmith has a story about turquoise and sterling and the desert landscape.

When I was little I dreamed of Sante Fe (til I learned of the very large spiders). I coveted my mom's big turquoise ring with sterling leaves and embellishments. I loved .925. My appreciation of the great Southwest's jewelry grew when I became exposed to Western horseback riding. It added a signature dramatic flair to Western riders and horses. It was glamorous in its own way.

This necklace is my little homage to my Southwest story.

Sterling disc is stamped with a design reminiscent of the Southwest and topped with a petite sleeping beauty turquoise cabochon (that is stabilized). I've oxidized it to make the detail pop, brushed the excess, and sent it to the tumbler for a shiny finish. The pendant is finished with an adjustable chain that can be worn at 16" or 18" with a handmade clasp.

Pomegranate Earrings

I love pomegranates. I love their color. The way they pop in your mouth. Dozens of little gems of fruit, packed in like a cell structure.

Pomegranate eating, though, is a time-consuming process. You see, I abhor the seeds...so I eat the bits of fruit around them and spit them out. It takes awhile, but in the end it's worth it.

Sterling pomegranates drop down from fixed earwires, complete with bunches of tiny seeds of silver surrounding a juicy 3mm garnet. These have been oxidized and lightly brushed. Yum!

This ring would, of course, look good on any one of your fingers and isn't a requirement for tea, in fact it would suit just about any occasion.

Grayish purplish 7mm pearl is held in place by a scalloped bezel and set atop a simple band. Dainty and elegant. And OOAK, as I had only one of these little pearls!

Night Swimming - Ring

Underwater lights shine into the ocean off the coast of the Big Island after dark, attracting plankton and other little organisms that magnificent manta rays like to snack on.

If you're lucky enough, you can have your very own dinner party with these giant, graceful creatures. They loop through the water with their mouths open wide to scoop up as many of the little guys as possible. Sometimes they ever so slightly brush you as they near the surface in one of their backflips, but usually they keep just enough space between you and them. Their wingspans are sometimes 13 feet...sometimes even larger, and to come within reach of a group of them is incredible, to say the least.

The deep blue of this blue tiger's eye reminds me of the night waters and the sleek and beautiful manta rays that inhabit them. A faint yellow streak runs through the top left of the stone, just like the lights shining into the Pacific. 4 sea urchin pebbles cling to the side of the ring to frame the stone. The ring shank is a lightly hammered band made from thick sterling wire. The entire piece is heavily textured and has been oxidized and brushed for depth. It is comfy and substantial and I don't want to take it off once I have it on!
