Sexy Brit Graham Kerr makes rich food that makes you think of large feasts & family togetherness. Many recipes are collected in this famous tv host's 1960s volume, including pot roast, omelets, scallops and even squid (!!). Remember that this was written in the 60s and it's very meat-centric and doesn't include healthy substitutions. But an excellent guide to learning to cook a wide variety of foods. Includes measurements for USA, imperial & metric. 284 pages. Some wear on the dust jackets but other than that, this hardcover book is in almost new condition.

The Adams are SO hot right now, no? Read all about one of America’s founding fathers with this tome, John Adams and the American Revolution, by Catherine Drinker Bowen. It’s in really good shape for being 59 years old, though there is yellowing to the pages, and someone cut out a small part of the first page of the book. Also some wear to the front and back covers, but still, this Adams homage is doing rather well. 699 pages.

Lovely Vintage Framed Watercolor

We love to come across pieces like this – totally one-of-a-kind! This fabulous watercolor was painted by Norm Moyer, and we think it’s totally divine. Green and pink dominate the painting, and the piece is faded and aged to just the right patina. Even the frame, which has seen better days, gives the impression of having been in the family for a long time. The whole thing just makes us smile, and we think you’ll feel the same way. Ready to hang. Good vintage condition, with scratching to the frame and some small stains on the painting itself. Measures 12 ¼” by 10 ¼”.

Pair of Vintage Mikasa Majorca Salad Plates

Mikasa. Just that one little word can elicit swoons from people the world over (us included). We’ve been known to lust after Mikasa. We both think this pair of salad plates is simply dynamite. It’s Mikasa’s lovely Majorca pattern, covered in glorious blues and greens and so very retro with it’s various patterns. The bottoms are stamped with Mikasa, and the Majorca name, as well as alerting us that these little plates are detergent and oven proof. Each plate measures approximately 7 ½” across. In good vintage condition with expected wear to each plate. No major chips, cracks, or scratches.

Ce N'est Pas une Pipe Vintage Ashtray

Is it a pipe? An ashtray? Or a work of art? We’ll let you decide. All we know is, it is jaw-droppingly sensational, and will be a conversation piece wherever it comes to rest. It’s a deep, warm brown, with some white speckles and gold trim. Would make a great ashtray, or catch-all, or even a planter! Even as an objet d’art, this pipe is up to the task. We love it. It’s in wonderful vintage condition, with some wear, especially to the gold band on the stem. Measures about 6” from the top of the stem to the bottom of the pipe, and the opening is approximately 2 ½” wide.

A rose by any other name might smell as sweet, but probably isn’t as rad as our pair of rosy glasses. Generously-sized, the glasses are each adorned with three strands of red, red roses and deep green leaves. They’d make a great gift for the gardener, June baby, or rose lover in your life! In fabulous vintage condition, with some teeny little scratches to the coloring on each glass, and one of them has an air bubble towards the bottom. Otherwise, they’re nearly perfect! Sometimes nothing says awesome like radishes. More specifically, like our pair of ceramic wall hangings starring some vibrant, fabulous radishes. The shape of the plaques is a clever play on the shape of the radishes themselves, with a crossed fork and spoon at the top of each plaque for added cuteness. Made in Brazil, these are super old school dollar store offerings, but way cooler than anything that’s likely to be around these days. Each plaque is in good vintage
condition, with some wear, though no major chips, scratches, or cracks. Would also serve as excellent spoon rests. Each wall hanging measures 6 ½” by 4 ½” at the widest point.

We love to see the bold, saturated hues of city lights and historic sights across the globe, and this book of Genova (and it’s surroundings!) is no exception. The cover tells us there are 227 coloured plates inside, and they are all fantastic. See the sights of Genova from the comfort of your favorite chair. Some of the full-page photos would make great framed art. Thanks to a protective cover, this book is in great condition, with some creasing to the covers but minimal wear inside. Bellissima!

CLEARANCE Federal Milk Glass Creamer and Sugar Bowl

We here at VIFL love love love love love Federal Glass. Perhaps it’s their snazzy shield logo, or their effortless chic. Whatever the reason, it’s obvious why Federal remains such a hot commodity today. It’s just plain awesome. Here we have a darling pair of gold-emblazoned pieces: a creamer and a sugar bowl (sans lid), both daintily decorated with wheat and wildflowers. Both are approximately 2 2/3” tall, and 3” at the mouth. And both are just too cute!

As with many vintage items, there is a certain amount of wear to this pair. The gold on the sugar bowl is somewhat faded, and both pieces have been used and have a few slight dings (but nothing very noticeable). CLEARANCE 150th Anniversary Odd Fellows Vintage Plate

This is probably Megan’s favorite plate of all-time! It’s bold and beautiful. Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (and FYI: they’re still going strong!) from back in 1969 with this glorious plate. Electric blue and an all-seeing eye are the focal points of this spectacular plate, along with bright gold trim along the edges. Measures 9 ½” across. For fellow history buffs, the back of the plate will prove fascinating:

“April 26, 1819, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was founded on the North American Continent by five men, led by Thomas Wildey, meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

It’s Emblem: “Three Links”
It’s Motto: Friendship, Love and Truth”
It’s Object: “To Improve and Elevate the Character of Man.”

This year, 1969, the Order celebrates 150 consecutive Years of service
to humanity.”

CLEARANCE Pretty Little Vintage Poconos Plate

The Poconos: tranquil site of honeymoons for decades and decades. Our adorable early 60s plate pays homage to the activities offered at Fernwood, a Poconos resort still functioning to this very day. Family skiing, fishing, and horseback riding are just a few of the attractions pictured in beautiful color (guess the champagne-flute shaped tubs weren’t around when this plate was made). The small (7 ¼”)
plate is given sparkle with some platinum floral festoons around the scalloped edges. It’s a pretty, pretty plate indeed, both kitschy and aesthetically pleasing.

As with many vintage items, there is a certain amount of wear to this plate. The back of the plate seems to have taken the brunt, perhaps with a magenta crayon. The front of the plate is in beautiful vintage condition. Neither one of us is usually that into brass, but this too-cute pair of brass fruit trays helped us change our minds. These curvaceous, precocious little trays personify two delicious fruits: pear and strawberry. Small but serviceable, they measure between 4-4 1/2 inches long. The tags on the back of both read “Brass Exchange/Hand
Made/Solid Brass/Made in India”. We think they’re just delightful, and could perform any number of functions in your kitchen, dining room, or just about anywhere!

“Orange Spice” is the name of the pattern, and it’s certainly spicy! Covered in glazed oranges and lemons, this petite pitcher or creamer is a highly sought-after Inarco pattern from the 60s. Our little pitcher/creamer is a treasure, ever so small (4 ½” tall, and 3” at the
widest point of the mouth), and ever so groovy! It would look just dandy sitting in your kitchen windowsill, full of beautiful white daisies! Sure to brighten your day. Bottom is stamped with the Inarco logo, and marked “E3715/INARCO”.

Aside from some slight wear to the bottom, and a couple manufacturer imperfections, we can’t find a single thing wrong with this pitcher/creamer. It’s almost perfect! Something we both appreciate are people (and pieces!) with a good sense of humor, so naturally we fell in love with this charmingly clever embroidery. We both seriously dig us some mid-century design. We also enjoy candles, and this piece just so happens to marry the two in perfect harmony. Our small candelabra will make the perfect centerpiece for your holiday parties! It’s simple yet stunning, modern yet classic. Framed Vintage Happiness is Camping Embroidery

While it’s true that neither of us would necessarily agree with this particular sentiment, we are definitely in agreement that this little piece of embroidery is amazing. Sure to compliment the décor in any room of your house, our embroidery features a station wagon hitched up to a nice old-fashioned camper, with a hint of forest goodness
represented by a pair of trees and some flying v birds. We love the rustic wooden frame, and the whole effect is just ridiculously rad.

Ready to hang and grace your place with camptacular goodness. Protected by glass and in wonderful vintage condition, save for a couple of small scratches on the protective glass, the piece measures 10” at the widest part of the frame and just over 7” tall, the embroidery itself is 6 ½” by about 3 ¾”.

Son of a Preacher Man Vintage Figurine

The movie Pulp Fiction spawned many musical memories, not least of which involves the incomparable Dusty Springfield’s scorching voice singing “the only one who could ever reach me/was the son of a preacher man.” This spectacular little figurine makes us think of that song. He’s oh so 70s in his gold-trimmed suit and skinny and with his perfect coif and calm, cool eyes. Good book in hand, this little preacher man will look positively holy in your house. He’s about 6 ¼”
tall, and in beautiful vintage condition with no scratches, chips, or cracks. Sticker on the bottom reads “Made in China.”

Vintage Happy Holidays Ashtray

We’re definitely enamored with the idea of cocktail parties of days gone by, and this ashtray would be a perfect fit at a holiday party of the swinging 60s. Smoky gray-blue glass is given a glitzy gold and white treatment, with a stylized border of poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe. The ashtray also features some sensational red lettering, reading “Merry Christmas Happy New Year,” and some adorable gold snowflakes. Not just for smokers, this tray could be a great place for
a stash of peppermints, or a sprig of mistletoe. Measuring 4 ¾” tall and 3 ¾” across, this ashtray is in wonderful vintage condition, the only issues being some fading to the lettering and to the border detailing.

Set of two Mikasa serving trays/dinner plates- Duplex by Ben Seibel Astro pattern

Ben Seibel was a prolific American designer who left his mark on many different pottery lines of the 1940s through 70s. Among them was the highly collectible Duplex line for Mikasa. These two large dinner plates are from the Astro pattern, whose retro 70s star pattern in brown and green would look great in any kitchen. One of the things that makes these plates so unusual is their tall lip around the edge. These are in good condition, with few signs of basic ware. They measure 12 ½ inches in diameter with a 1 ½” rim. Can be used for many years to come.

In really great shape for being 66 years young, with the expected yellowing to the pages and slight creasing of the binding. Doubtlessly

Brown is so very in this autumn, don’t you think? We’re big fans of brown, and big fans of this little vase, too. Handmade by an artist at Harbor House of Wilmington, NC, this vase is a lush, fudgey chocolate brown, full of curves and charm. It’s got a textured ring around the top, a great spin on a classical design. The cream base peeks out at the rim and the bottom, and the inside of the vase is cream. The vase is in great vintage condition, with no chips, scratches, or cracks. Signed on the bottom by the artist. The vase measures approximately 4” tall and just under 2” at the mouth, with the widest part of the vase measuring in around 3”.

Stone Ware made in Japan is one of our favorite things, for sure. Mugs, plates, bowls, we love it in all shapes and sizes. We definitely love this small pitcher, which would be absolutely perfect as a creamer for your next tea party, or simply for sitting pretty on a window ledge. It’s a lovely shade of green, and the design is oh-so mid-century. We love the simple color palette and gentle curve to the spout of the pitcher, not to mention the sensational speckling. Probably one of a series, our One Pair glass shows an excellent hand; Queen of Diamonds, Jack of Spades, a 3 of Diamonds, and 5s of Spades and Hearts. Part of the 5 of Hearts is a little pearlescent, adding to the overall charm of the glass. In good vintage condition, with a couple of small exterior flea bites just to the left of the hand. Vintage Taylor Smith Taylor 1973 Calendar Plate

Whenever Megan sees the words Taylor Smith Taylor, it makes her think of Courtney Taylor (otherwise known as Courtney Taylor-Taylor, lead singer for the most excellent Dandy Warhols). This plate has nothing to do with the Dandy Warhols, though both are very, very fabulous indeed. Our large dinner plate is unlike anything we’ve ever seen; a flaming, somewhat bemused golden sun sits right smack in the middle of a years’ worth of calendars, in gold, one per every month of 1973. The outer edge of the plate features a lovely dogwood pattern. It’s in beautiful, beautiful condition, and has just a couple of air bubbles and some fading to some of the gold. The back is marked with the laurel leaf crest logo of Taylor Smith Taylor, and is marked as “detergent proof” and “oven proof.” Plate measures 10 ½” in diameter.

In the “Wild Tudor” pattern, the front of the vase features a hearty bouquet of roses, violets, thistles, and other beautiful flora, while the back has a smaller, daintier design featuring a few of the same flowers that are so abundant on the front. Aynsley sticker on the side, and the bottom shows the Aynsley crest, the “Wild Tudor” pattern name, and says that the vase is “Fine English Bone China” and is “Made in England.” Vase measures approximately 3” tall and 3” at the widest spot.

Vintage Niagara Falls Souvenir Bear

Ladies and gents, it doesn’t get much cuter than this here little souvenir bear. He’s come to us all the way from Niagara Falls (the Canadian side, naturally), and we find him impossibly charming. He appears to be making himself right at home on a tree stump, with a banner reading “Niagara Falls Canada” in nifty retro fonts. A nice shade of tan, Mr. Niagara Bear wears a darling little brown bow tie, and is somewhat reminiscent of Paddington Bear (at least, we think so). We’re not sure what the opening is his back is for, but we’re sure there’s some sort of use for it. In great vintage shape, with only a few little items of issue: a teensy spot on his right ear, an interior/underglaze crack on his left arm, and a few interior/underglaze lines on the banner. Measures 3 ¼” tall, and 2 inches at the base.

Cute as a button, that’s what this is. This little napkin/letter holder is simply oozing with rustic country charm. It’s glazed wood with floral motifs on both sides. It probably started life in a kitchen as a napkin holder, but could definitely work in an office for letters or small notepads. It’s in good vintage condition, with some wear to the floral motifs and some nicks to the wood in the center piece of the holder. Measures approximately 5 ½” tall and 4 ¼” across. Each opening is about 1” wide.

Ashtrays. We can’t get enough of them! This is definitely one of the cutest we’ve come across. It’s got a great curvy shape, and of course we totally dig the heart motif. Vintage FTD Floral Vase

This lovely vase dates from 1983, and was once used by FTD to brighten someone’s day with a bouquet of flowers. It’s so much prettier than the standard issue vases you get with today’s delivery services! We love its off-white color and Mediterranean feel (it was made in Portugal, after all). The front is decorated with a lovely bunch of light turquoise flowers with purply-pink centers and brown vines, while on the back is one lone turquoise flower, with a little lone yellow flower, and the same brown vine detail. Brown stripes wrap around the top of the vase, and one brown stripe hugs the bottom. It’s in great vintage condition, with no major chips, cracks, or flaws. There are a few air bubbles, but that’s it. Vase is nearly 8” tall.

Viva Las Vegas indeed! Show your friends what a high roller you are with our set of four ridiculously retro and splendidly over-the-top coasters. The set of four all have the same design, a colorful montage of the golden age of Vegas (chips, casino signs, and pairs of dice). These coasters are all in great shape, though one of them is a little faded (it perhaps got left out in the hot desert sun?). The cork backs are all in virtually perfect shape, and apart from the fading the same can be said about the coasters. We think they’re almost as great as hitting 21 on the tables! All you need is love. Love, love, love. Love me, love me, say that you love me. Who do you love? We love love these days, and picked this two pieces up individually only to put them together (aww). In this lot, we have a wonderful Glasbake mug and a small bud vase. The Glasbake milk glass mug features a red heart motif and asks the question “How’s your love life.” The vase is smooth ceramic, and features a raised red heart that simply says “I Love You.” They’re both in pretty good vintage condition; the mug has some surface scratches and some dark spots on one of the hearts, while the vase has a small chip on the bottom and some air bubbles. Mug measures 3 ½” tall and 3” wide, and the vase measures 5 ½” tall.

We think this precious little Scottie is impossible to resist, like most of the Avon milk glass line. He stands at attention, ready for action, with a sweet expression on his face and a gold collar around his neck. These are some bold, snazzy plates, with two stripes around the rim and two big yellow blooms smack dab in the center. Whenever we see a Siamese cat, we think of Lady & The Tramp. This little kitty looks a lot nicer than those mischievous little cats, that’s for sure. Miss Kitty, as Megan has named her, sits pretty against a backdrop of sky blue, with a periwinkle shadow. Miss Kitty sits tall and proud, but appears to be smiling (a rare feat for a Siamese!). A black frame helps Miss Kitty stand out even more, and she’s ready to hang on your wall. Unique Vintage Handled Vase

We’re pretty sure this is a vase, but it’s quite a quirky little thing! Definitely one of the more unusual vases we’ve ever seen. The glossy white glaze is given character by subtle raised designs on either side of the center, and lovely glossy, pearly peach warms the middle. Gold trim adds to the over-the-top appeal of the vase, as does the unusual handle, complete with small spout. The gold and peach decorate both sides of this vase. We think bold flora would look best in this vase, be it a bouquet of Gerber daisies or perhaps some tulips. In wonderful vintage condition, the only items of note are a couple of pin pricks of dark spots, but nothing major. Marked “K. M. B.” on one side. Vase measures just under 4” tall and the mouth is 2 ½” wide.

One of Megan’s all-time favorite movies is Smokey and The Bandit, so it’s only natural that she got her mitts on this sensational ashtray. The Bandit would definitely approve of the red, white, and blue motif, and the big rig sitting proud under a gigantic stars and stripes. So keep on “trucking for America!” Trimmed in gold, this ashtray could reincarnate to serve a variety of household functions. We like to think this here mug qualifies for the title of Most Awesome Mug Ever. Covered in cute little whales and lots of blue, we’re pretty much head over heels for it. Look how happy those whales are, smiling widely as they squirt their blowholes. The grid of whales contains an even dozen of buoyant sea creatures, floating above a sea of gorgeous deep blue. Fabulous, fantastic, and ferociously cool. We could not possibly love this set any more than we do. Use them as an indulgent service for ice cream or sherbet, or, as we would do, use them for serving bubbly at your next cocktail party! They’re simply oozing with sophisticated swank, and it’s not hard to imagine swilling champers out of these babies. Light gray glasses sit on smoky glass bases for a dynamite look. Vintage Duke University Beerstein

This sturdy, impressive beerstein is a little like the Duke campus itself, imposing yet grand. It’s quite a formidable vessel from which to sip, we think. The stein is a great, very autumnal caramel color, and it’s very substantial in weight. The centerpiece, obviously, is the grandiose Duke crest, for “Universitas Dukiana.” Our stein would be the perfect mug for drowning sorrows during football season, and celebrating successes during basketball season. Measures 6” tall and 2 ¾” at the mouth. There is some wear to this most excellent beer stein, the crest is tarnished, and there is some wear to the gold, mainly in the cross in the center. There are a couple light scratches on the front, and a longer scratch in the back (perhaps someone got a little too exuberant during a Final Four game?). Overall, it’s an excellent piece of Duke memorabilia.

While neither of us needed to celebrate a 25th anniversary, we couldn’t help falling for this beyond adorable pair of saucers. They’ve got a wonderful, definitely 60s feel to them, with very stylized flowers and simple scalloped edges, trimmed in the same silver as the flowers and “25th Anniversary” script. Apart from a few air bubbles and slight fading to some of the silver, these little saucers are in very good vintage condition. Framed Vintage Floral Print

We both love flowers, both real and framed varieties. This is one of our favorite flora framis, a lovely bunch of flowers framed with a fantastic mahogany colored frame with gold dental trim. The blooms in this print is reminiscent of summer, with bright reds and pinks and golds accented with whites and bright blues, as well as verdant green leaves. The print and frame are charmingly aged, the paper on which our lively blooms reside is yellowed, and the frame has some scratches and dents, but we think these are just signs of character. The back of the print has tearing, but is strung and ready for hanging. Measures 10 ½” tall by 8 ½” across.

We’ve seen a lot of embroidery and samplers, but this one seems quite special to us. Perhaps it’s the sweet, sweet sentiment: “Reap rich harvests that Love has sown,” or the fantastically fruity border that surrounds the text. Bananas, pineapples, and cherries oh my (and also apples and grapes and oranges, too)! It’s a wonderfully homespun piece, but the fruit knocks the stuffiness out and provides a startling alternative to your standard old sampler. This would make a very thoughtful wedding or engagement gift! Super amazingly ridiculously rare, you'll be hard-pressed to find a first edition of this here book anywhere. The Vegetarian Epicure was one of the first vegetarian cookbooks, back when the veggie movement was just gaining widespread popularity. Anna Thomas wrote this book of 262 recipes when she was just 23 years old and a student at UCLA, and she's included a little bit of everything, even including suggested menus for various events. 310 yum-filled pages, with some period companion illustrations. Try Thomas's recipes for eggs florentine, french crepes, and the raspberry fool, among 259 others. Looking at this petite scene makes us feel chilly and warmed at the same time! Depicting much simpler times, this little plaque is illustrated with a winter farmhouse scene. Barren trees and dull gray skies heavy with snow clouds surround a wooden farm house, the menfolk returning home to the smoking chimney and mama feeding the chickens in the yard. It's titled "Home In the Wildnerness," and it has an enchanting rustic quality to it. Simple, scalloped edges frame the illustration, and a brass ring makes it ready-to-hang. You can tell from his photo that Ralph Reppert has more than a little bit of a sense of humor. We both think it's hilarious, and as the dust jacket so profoundly puts, "this is a book about at least a dozen people you know." Hey collectors of rare, out of print books! Our copy of A Naked Needle might just float your boat. In great condition, our paperback will be a boon to anyone's library, and the title and the bold orange cover are definitely conversation starters. The book hinges on the idea of marrying someone you know if not married by a certain point in your life, with an international flavor. By Nuruddin Farah, and published in 1976 as part of the HEB Paperback African Writers Series. Farah was born in Baidoa, which today is known as Somalia. In good vintage condition, with a couple creases on the front cover but no major damage to the book.

Vintage Toronto Room Thermometer

Toronto is one of our all-time, most definite, absolute favorite cities. We also get a kick out of room thermometers, so really this is double the fun! We have here a super 70s, faux wood room thermometer with pro-Canadian decor and a handy little pocket (the perfect size for business cards, receipts, or whatever tickles your fancy). The thermometer seems to be functional, and offers the temperature in both fahrenheit and celsius degrees. We love the raised gold script spelling out "Toronto" and the Canadian flag crest with brick-patterned crown on top of it decorating the pocket. All in all, apart from a few dings to the wood (faux wood) and some rubs and nicks to the gold trim on the pocket and around the thermometer, it's in good vintage condition, and ready to hang on your wall.

Vintage 80s Fabulous Architectural Vase

We both swooned for this dynamo of a vase. Circa 1986, it's oh-so-80s, but definitely influenced by the 60s. Architectural with its straight lines and rounded top, the colorful details adding an artful touch, reminiscent of 60s advertising. As for condition, it's pretty good. The glaze is crackling, but in a very appealing way. One edge of the bottom of the vase has a ding, and there are two small imperfections (bubbles from manufacturing?) that look like teensy pin pricks on one of the six sides of the vase, but otherwise it's in lovely vintage condition. A perfect vessel for your favorite flowers!

The first thing we thought of when we laid eyes on these glasses? Tom Jones, of course! It's our understanding that the Pussycat glasses were some sort of promotional materials, but we like to think they came from a swinging nightclub. Throw on a little Mr. Jones and shake your hips while sipping a swanky cocktail from one of our groovy duo. The shagadelic shape and retro lettering make these glasses a must-have for the kitten in your life. In great vintage shape, though one glass has a small flea bite, and the other a manufacturer's imperfection that looks like a crack, but isn't. Fetchingly far-out!
