Tiny Sunflower Linocut

$20.00
It's spring... or at least it's trying to be spring (it's snowing here as I type). Anyway, we can dream of sunny flowers.

This multi-color image is printed by hand using the reduction method. In a reduction print, the artist first carves from the block the areas to be left the color of the print paper. The first color (let's say yellow) is printed, the block is cleaned off, and the artist carves away the areas to remain yellow.

The next color is printed directly over the previous... and so on until the print is finished. The edition number refers to the number of identical prints created from the same plate. For example, 1/4 means that the print is the first of four impressions of that particular image. Because I pull all my prints by hand, I always keep my editions very small, usually 15 images or fewer.

"Tiny Sunflower" is approximately 3"x3" (image size), printed in an edition of 15 on Japanese Hosho paper. Price is for print only, no mat or frame. Print ships on support board in protective sleeve.

They're one of my favorite sparrows, probably because they're so easy to identify. (C'mon! Look at that face!)

This multi-color image is printed by hand using the reduction method. I've spent many happy hours sketching these critters on visits to Holland.

In all seasons, the trees around the lake provide interesting patterns of shadows and reflections.

This multi-color image is printed by hand using the reduction method. Fabulous projects, both of them... and in this case they occurred one right after the other.

"Living on the Edge" is a collection of field sketches made during the long journey from my home in Colorado to Holland, through New York, to Maine. A few of the image details are shown here, but in all there are 50 pages of sketches and notes in this volume.

Each stab-bound book is built by hand using only acid-free papers and boards. Individual leaves are beach Speckletone Text, the endpapers are Confetti Cover, and the cover papers are acid-and-lignin-free products of "It Takes Two." Interior hinges are acid-free linen cloth. Inkjet printed.

What if we want THIS one?" So I built this one for them! Inside you will find a collection of my field and study sketches, with a few little notes and musings along the way. (Or perhaps it's the patron saint of an old-timey band in Seattle, but that's another story.)

"Run, Rabbit, Run" is approximately 9"x6" (image size), printed in an edition of 14 on Japanese Hosho paper. Price is for print only, no mat or frame. Print ships flat in a protective sleeve with foam core backing.

It was desperately hot and humid for a poor little arid-country gal from Colorado, so I took at cue from Tigerlily and found a shady spot on the cool concrete floor of the shed. About the time my behind decided that it had had enough of concrete, cool or no, Tigerlily decided she had had enough of modeling for sketches and took off in search of more interesting company.

This multi-color image is printed by hand using two blocks AND the reduction method. I often walk in the early hours just after sunrise, which is a warmer occupation in the summer months than the winter! On one brisk autumn morning I found the branches of willows and trees inhabited by very cold swallows, waiting for the sun and the insects to wake up. Not long after this the swallows vamoosed for warmer climes.

This multi-color image is printed by hand using the reduction method. In a reduction print, the artist first carves from the block the areas to be left the color of the print paper.
