ECHINACEA PURPUREA - Botanical Print

This is a 5x7 archival print of the original illustration I did of Echinacea purpurea. I printed it on acid free cotton rag paper with archival inks from an Epson 2200. It is signed, unmatted, and will fit in a 5x7 frame. Your print will arrive in an acid free sleeve with an acid free backing board and includes an information sheet on the historical medicinal uses of Echinacea. The original for this illustration was done is acrylic watercolor and graphite.

I specialize in illustrating medicinal and edible plants. Some of my illustrations can be seen in the books, Medicine From the Mountains: Medicinal Plants of the Sierra Nevada by Kimball Chatfield, and When Technology Fails by Matthew Stein. I start a botanical piece by finding live specimens and photographing them. I use live samples in conjunction with the photos I take whenever possible to retain the essence of the plant in the drawing.

MOUNTAIN ROSE - Rosa woodsii ultramontana - HAND-TINTED BOTANICAL PRINT

This is a 5x7 hand-tinted print of the original illustration, Mountain Rose, I did for the book, Medicine From the Mountains: Medicinal Plants of the Sierra Nevada by Kimball Chatfield. The hand-tinting is iridescent green, gold and magenta. The color is very subtle, shifting with the changing light. Straight on the print appears to be black. It is printed on a linen-textured paper.

The original piece is pen and ink stipple rendered with a .00025 technical pen. (Yes, there are thousands of dots here!) I start a botanical piece by finding live specimens and photographing them. I use live samples in conjunction with the photos I take whenever possible to retain the essence of the plant in the drawing.

This print is double matted, signed by the artist and will fit in a 5”x7” frame. Your print will arrive in an acid free sleeve. Included with the print is historical medicinal usage for Mountain Rose - Rosa woodsii ultramontana.

This is Faery Peeking, a cautious faery who might just live in your own garden. These gift tags (approximately 2.25 x 3.5 inches) were created from the original illustration by me, Kristen Schwartz. They are printed on recycled paper. The hole for the faery ribbon is shaped like a star to add a little extra magic to the next gift you give. This is a set of 6.

The original illustration was done in colored pencil for Faery Medicine.

This is Long Life Old Man, a curious and magical fellow that grows younger with each day of Spring. He was inspired by a Tibetan folktale. These gift tags (approximately 2.25 x 3.25 inches) were created from the original illustration by me, Kristen Schwartz. They are printed on recycled paper. The hole for the faery ribbon is shaped like a star to add a little extra magic to the next gift you give. This is a set of 6.

The original illustration was done in airbrush, pen and ink, and colored pencil for Faery Medicine.
