Pot holders made from felted recycled sweaters...they are cool because they're recycled, and because they keep your hands cool! They are thick and durable and wear like iron. They are machine washable and come with a card with easy care directions. They even double as great trivets. And they make your kitchen look good!

This is a pair of pot holders. One of them is striped in heathery tones of blue, olive, gold, rusty red, rusty orange and gray on one side, and heathery tan on the other. The other is heathery forest green on one side and a heathery gray/tan on the other. Please note that the colors you see on your screen may not match the actual colors of the potholders. They measure 7" x 7".

Veery Needle Felted Bird

The veery is a member of the thrush family, like the robin and the wood thrush. They all have beautiful songs. The veery has the subtlest markings, with his soft golden browns.

Veery is about 6.5" from tip to tail, which is life size. As a birder, I work to make my birds as life like as possible, including as much of the bird's true markings as I can. He is needle felted of 100% wool roving.

He would love to grace one of your windows or any place you would like to put him!

This beauty is a western tanager.

I usually try to needle felt the birds that are native to my area. I don't ever see this bird, but his picture is near the goldfinch in my bird book, and he's so beautiful, I just have to have him around sometimes.

These tanagers get the red in their shading by eating red berries - the more they eat, the redder they will be.

Western Tanager is about 6" from tip to tail, which is life size. As a birder, I work to make my birds as life like as possible, including as much of the bird's true markings as I can. He is needle felted of 100% wool roving.

Nuthatches are really interesting little birds. They can hop down a tree face-first/upside down. They have a raspy voice and hang out with chickadees and titmice.

Sun and Shadow

Both sides of life show in this mostly-sunny wall hanging.

Sun & Shadow was needle felted onto a hand felted base in shades of yellow, orange and red, with gray overlay on one side of the face. The face was sculpted in relief, and is about 1/2 inch above the surface of the base.

Sun & Shadow measures 12.5" from point to point (it is a 9" square), and is hung by a dowel and ribbon on the back.

Please remember that the hues you see on your screen may not exactly match the colors of the wool.

Rainbow Bowl

This small dream of a bowl could hold fantasies, faeries, acorns, buttons, business cards and more. It has a solid feel you wouldn't expect from a bowl made of wool.

It was needle felted of wool roving, and the colors are natural "Biologique" dyes. This would be a lovely addition to a Waldorf setting.

The bowl measures 5.25" across at the top, and 1.5" across at the bottom. It is 2" high. The beads are for reference purposes, so it's easier to see the size onscreen.

Bearded Green Man

~Celebrate summer and the beauty of Earth with this Green Man.

~He is needle felted of 100% wool, and measures approximately 14" from side to side and top to bottom.

~He has a wool hanger sewed onto the back.

~He can be hung indoors or out. (As with any fiber, if he hangs in the sun he is likely to fade.)

~Here's the story of how he was made:
I began making this green man right after his predecessor was sold.
The first thing I did was to combine colors for the leaves (the boy helped me with this part) and then felted the leaves, each one separately. When they were done, I chose a felted sweater for the backing, and began building the face onto it. He has a core of white roving for the face, which was covered with a mix of greens. When the face was in place, each leaf got felted on; then the face and the leaves were needled a LOT to get the shape and firmness I wanted. Details like the beard, eyebrows and veins in the leaves were then added, and I needled around each leaf to make them stand out. He was then cut out from his backing, and a hanger was sewed onto the back.
