Muscat De Provence Pumpkin

I canned pumpkin butter, and made pumpkin pies from three different types of pumpkins this fall, and this by far, was my favorite.

First, it's a beautiful pumpkin. Dark green on the outside,gradually turning a shade of orange.. deep orange flesh.

In doing research on it , I found that in France it is often given after fall parties, in 'wedges' as a going away party gift. It is used in soups, etc.

I found it to be very pleasantly sweet, and it made the BEST pumpkin pies out of all the different pumpkins I tried. My one pumpkin weighed in at 25 lbs !!

This is a story you must read...

I live in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I am more than an avid gardener, flowers for many many years, and then vegetables over the past 3 years ( although I grew up HAVING to pick beans in the garden , etc., as a child ). I have learned the value of preserving Heirloom seeds to pass on to the next generations, just as I feel the art of canning food must be passed on..
My brother worked for the park service a few years ago, and brought my mother a hand full of bean seeds, given to him from someone still working in the historic Cades Cove community.
The seeds, are heirloom, descended down from the original seeds a hundred years ago, that the Cherokee Indians shared with the original settlers of Cades Cove.

You can rarely find these for sale, as they are precious and too hard to come by.
Every year my mother and I grow just enough to enjoy the beans and harvest the seed.

I have a limited offering of these seeds, so don't wait until the summer to purchase from me. Seeds are selling now, and when these are gone for the year, they're gone, until next year.

I have a very limited amount of these seeds. I will be able to offer two listings, the rest I am saving to sow in my garden :o)
It came up voluntarily in one of my flower pots this past summer, and after some research I have discovered what it is. I do hope it comes back, as it is a lovely little plant.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds, and is pollinated by bees, particularly carpenter bees.
It requires dry or moist soil and can tolerate drought.
The leaves on the vine are not very showy, it is the flower that you will love. Some plant it along with another vine.

All of my flowers are organically grown. You will receive 10 seeds and sowing instructions.

USDA Zone 7a: to -17.7 °C (0 °F)
USDA Zone 7b: to -14.9 °C (5 °F)

HOWEVER, it is very very hardy to zone's 6, and 6B as well.

One of my favorite Daturas in the garden. Very easy to grow. A self seeding annual. Exotic look.
The plant is more of a bush than a tree and reaches 2-3 feet tall.
Blooms are about 3-4 inches long and face upwards, attracting hummingbirds and sphinx moths as well as butterflies.
Every part of the datura plant is poisonous.

This is an Heirloom butternut squash.
The flavor is wonderful. I cut these open and bake them with nothing but butter , covered in foil, in the oven.
I have heard, although I have not tried it, that butternut squash make a great ( and healthier ) substitute for pumpkin, in making pumpkin pies !
They also store really well throughout the winter if kept in a cool place.

I first spotted red clover last year and was absolutely obsessed with finding out what it was and getting the seed. I think it has a beautiful red bloom. And it's clover !!

It can survive winter temperatures as low as -30°F and tolerates temporary waterlogging, but cannot survive prolonged waterlogging or flooding.

A field of red clover is an important resource for bumble bees. Honey bees have a shorter proboscis that cannot reach into the long flowers of red clover, so they will leave red clover to the bumble bees. Since bumble bees nest in the ground, it is to a growerÍs advantage to leave some wild areas near the planting of clover. Honey bees have some influence on seed yield, but bumble bees ensure a good seed crop.

Hands down this was my favorite bean in the garden this year. It produced beans for me up until the last hard frost. It was resistant to any pests that bothered my other vegies...it was extremely hardy in the best and worst of conditions. And boy did it produce !

This is a Chinese Red Noodle Yard Long Bean. The beans, as you can tell from the photo, literally grew up to 24" long.
They are wonderful cut into small sections and stir-fried. They are wonderful cooked as green beans are. I even canned some and won a ribbon at the fair on my marvelous purple beans !

I have taken great care to harvest and preserve these seeds for my customers. They are kept in a fridge so the coolness will keep all kritters out and preserve their freshness.

This particular Bell pepper seed has been passed down through our family for years. The original name...we've long since forgotten, only that it is a massively producing green bell pepper with a wonderful flavor.
To give you an idea..I planted an entire row of these peppers this past summer, and had quite a crop. In the late fall, when the threat of a final freeze was coming, I STILL have 50 or more bell peppers to harvest. I covered up that row of peppers up until i just couldn't anymore.
My freezer is FULL of at least a couple hundred green bell peppers prepared in different ways...our favorite being stuffed and sliced in stir fry.

In the winter I bring it in ( as I am in zone 7) and it does really well, watered occassionally, until the summer comes around again. You are buying the healthy plant pictured. Our Wild but yummy Spaghetti Squash Patty Pan Cross seed

It was a mistake, but it turned out so well, we planted the cross seed AGAIN, to make sure we got a solid variety. It is a cross between a white Patty Pan squash, and a Spaghetti squash. It has more of the 'meat' , but still enough 'spaghetti' to use it as such in recipes if you wish. It grew larger than my spaghetti squash, with a fat bottom like the patty pan.
Personally, I loved the flavor. The photo taken is actually of a smaller one, one of the last from my garden. They store really well if you keep them cool. I still have some from the summer months.

Live Organic Plants Amaranthus Elephant Head

I love plants and flowers in my garden that will make a car stop , a person get out, and somebody say ' What the Heck is that ?'
It actually happens all the time in my gardens . Amaranthus are one of my most favorite plants.
This one is a giant, and is called Elephant Head. As you can see from the photos, the bloom 'head' looks like an Elephant head and trunk.

My mother, old fashioned and original soul that she is, calls this the ' finger' plant. I found this out one day while digging in her seed box. Reading her descriptions on her packs of harvested seeds is a real treasure. On this one baggie she had written ' finger plant'...and after talking with her I found out it was my Amaranthus Elephant Head, which she had nicknamed her finger plant because it looks like a finger pointing. :o)

Amaranthus are not perennial, but they do re-seed every year. Beautiful and unusual plant. Grows up to 5' tall in my garden. The plants in this listing are pictured.

Ready to plant ! Organically grown ! In fact I have some Assasin bugs that take care of the 'bad' bugs very nicely in our gardens.

let me tell you how I came to have Lunaria growing in my gardens...

It is an old timey flower here in the south...I grew up with my mother always having it in her flower gardens. When I bought my own house, my mother showed up one day with dry lunaria seed pods, took them out on my back deck, and shook them all over my back yard....

For shipping on my sedums, I like to remove as much of the soil as possible. Makes it cheaper on shipping, and I believe easier on the plant.

Sedums ...are the easiest and most unique succulent to grow . They thrive in the worst conditions, and love dry and hot weather.

If you would like to know all of the sedums I will be offering I'd be happy to send you a list of what's in the greenhouse :o)

I will definately combine shipping. My only problem is that I cannot know what your shipping is until I have taken your plants out of the pots, so I just ask that if making a multiple plant purchase... make your purchase,and payment, and I will happily refund any shipping that is over the amount of actual shipping. Brugmansia Strawberry and Cream Rooted Cutting Plant

I'm a bit addicted to Brugmansias.
You are purchasing a good woody cutting that is currently rooting.
Brugmansias, also known as Angel Trumpets ( but not to be confused with Daturas) are toxic. All parts of them, down to the seed.
Here in Tennessee, I leave my Brugs in the ground through the winter, cut down to the ground , mulched, and covered with a big pot. In colder climates, you will want to either plant your Brugmansia in a large pot and bring it in for the winter, or plant it in the ground and dig it up and bring it in.
Believe me, the little bit of extra trouble is worth it !

Brugmansias are an absolutely show stopping gorgeous plant ! Mine grow to 6' tall. I cut them back to within 6" in the late fall, and still yet they grow right back the next year to that height. You MUST feed your brugs, they do love it, and will grow and bloom more for you when you do.
Mine start blooming in late summer, although I've seen them bloom mid summer. I had blooms on mine in early November here, they were just covered . The blooms open up in the evening and the fragrance is to die for.
HUGE blooms, that look like upside down teacups.
Everyone always wants to know what that is blooming in my yard.

Beautiful primitive looking stoneware woman purchased at an Estate Sale here in the Smokies. I've seen one other like her, at an antique shop in the Townsend area ( for those who are familiar with the area ). She measures 9" tall. Very natural earthy colors and the faint blue on her dress. She holds a bouquet of flowers, has two long braids in her hair. Very good condition. There is a price written on the very bottom ( the underside), and that has been marked through, but this is on the BOTTOM and is not seen nor does it affect the value.

My friend was an airforce 'brat' and more than 20 years ago, brought these home with her from her travels. With her permission I am selling them .
They measure almost 7" tall and are made of hand stitched leather. The 'rider is made from cloth pieces that have also been hand stitched. The fringe is a little worn on the ends, but not too bad as you can see from the pictures.

Vintage Siam Sterling Silver. I have a few different Siam pieces that are all vintage and came from the same source. A friend of mine who went to school in Pakistan and traveled all over that part of the world.

This is a beautiful piece. It does not say sterling on the back. It needs cleaning if you want that perfect silver look...it tarnishes just like sterling silver. If you want a vintage look, it's perfect as it is. The heart piece on this necklace measures just over 3" tall. It is a large pieces. Very nice 'chunky' look. The clasp is a barrel clasp that you twist together. IN very good condition, just needs the cleaning, IF that is what you like.

I have researched this all over the internet and cannot find any detailed information about it. I just know that it is old. I've seen the cups on one antique website, selling for $9.95 each, but again, they even stated they couldn't find any information about.
Here is what is in this set..

5 - larger mugs or cups. 3 in very good condition. One has a crack, and one has a small chip.

1 - smaller mug, has a very tiny chip

5 saucers or plates that measure 5 across. All 5 in very good condition.

2- creamers ( gravy boats also maybe ?) both in very good condition.

1 sugar bowl that is missing the lid, but is in very good condition.

So, you receive 14 pieces in this lot.

I had so many butterflies love my cosmos this year, that we made it a daily thing to just sit by the cosmos flowers with our camera. I even had a zebra swallowtail visit my cosmos and that is not a common occurance around here.

Cosmos are an annual, but mine re-seed every year. I love them ! Butterfly and hummingbird attractors. Beautiful orange color.

These are small starter plants, that have been potted up for at least 3 weeks now. They are approx. 3" tall now, and grow very quickly. I will ship these with a little soil still attached to make it an easier transition on the plant.

Daturas are not perennial plants, but they come back every year for me in my gardens by dropping multiple seeds. If you would prefer not to have them directly in your flower gardens, plant them in pots. They are a joy to see in the evening hours when they bloom. Wonderful for your moon garden. HUGE blooms.

The shipping I have quoted is for flat rate priority mail. I've had difficulty lately with my shipping. I don't seem to charge enough, especially to the West Coast. I can't afford to pay shipping out of my own pocket.

This Blackberry jam means so much to me. I worked alongside my mother all summer to pick blackberries. I picked from thornless blackberry plants ( ohhh so much better ), and wild blackberry plants ( ouch ). This jam is the result of my labors, and getting to pick alongside my mother and hear her wonderful stories of picking blackberries as a youth in the mountains here.
This Jam was just canned this week. You will receive a half pint. It will have a label on it. I'm just waiting on those, but have had people ask me for my blackberry jam so decided to go ahead and list it for sale.
I did not remove the seeds from this, just a personal preference.
You will love the flavor !
