Add excitement and luster to spinning and felting projects with these shiny locks. I have spun these to add color to yarns for my hats and used them for needle-felting projects. Locks seem to average 3 inches long and are somewhat picked. Great character, but not super soft.

When I saw this roving hanging on the drying rack, I immediately thought of tie dyed T-shirts. In its mix of blues and purples, this roving would be quite at home at a Grateful Dead or Phish concert or on the streets of my town, Asheville, NC.

I hand-dyed this beautiful 100% Merino wool roving in blue and purple with just a bit of whites showing through. Wonderful for spinning into a soft, lofty, next-to-the-skin yarn. Great for wet felting or needle felting.

Trailside Hat - Knitting Pattern

This is a great hat - and a quick and easy knit. I designed the original hat to wear while hiking the Appalachian Trail, and the name stuck! It looks good on men or women.

I like to use a smooth, solid color or tweed yarn and although I usually knit it with my handspun, it looks great in any solid color bulky weight.

Gauge: 3 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch.
Sizes: Adult medium, but can easily be sized up or down.
Needle size: US size 10 ½ /7 mm
Yarns: Bulky weight solid color - approximately 75-90 yards

From right off one of the goats of my favorite local growers in Buncombe County, NC, Minnie Pearl's lovely fleece won the blue ribbon for mohair at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair in 2009. I was volunteering in the fleece show and sale and bought the fleece as soon as I saw it!

I have washed and dyed these mohair locks in my cool Beach Glass colorway - blue, teal, green and purple.

From right off one of the goats of my favorite local growers in Buncombe County, NC, Minnie Pearl's soft and lovely fleece won the blue ribbon for mohair at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair in 2009. I was volunteering in the fleece show and sale and bought the fleece as soon as I saw it!

I have washed and dyed these mohair locks in my Autumn Sky colorway - Carolina blue, mossy green and several shades of orange and gold.

Add excitement and luster to spinning and felting projects with these shiny locks. Locks are 3-5 inches long and are graded fine adult, but are quite soft! This is a representative photo and very similar to the mohair you will actually receive.

This is beautiful natural undyed wool roving. The color is dark brown with just a few grey fibers. A Romney blend, this roving spins up beautifully. Fairly clean; just a bit of veggie matter.

This beautiful hat is a quick and easy knit. It looks great on just about everybody – and it stays on, even in the wind.

I like to combine a solid color with a variegated mohair or textured novelty yarn to make each hat unique. Knit one for every member of your family, with no two ever the same! Great for stash reduction too - you can use up those sweet single skeins.

Gauge: 3 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch.
Sizes: Adult medium, but can easily be sized up or down.
Needle size: US size 10 ½ /7 mm
Yarns: Worsted weight solid color - approximately 100-120 yards; combined with your special yarn (brushed mohair, chenille, or multicolor novelty yarn) – approximately 40 yards

Oatmeal - Undyed Natural Wool Roving - 4 Ounces

This is natural undyed 100% wool roving that is ready for you to use just as it is or dye to whatever color you wish. It has a creamy natural color with dark fibers that takes dye brilliantly. The dark fibers add a heather effect to my dye work - adding a wonderful depth.

This roving is a new version, just a shade darker than my former 'Oatmeal' roving - a higher concentration of dark fibers.

Somewhat coarse, I like this roving better for felting that spinning. It spins easily, but he yarn isn't baby-soft. It wet felts quickly though, and is excellent for needlefelting.

I purchased this from a regional supplier as 'domestic wool.' Although I can't be sure, there is likely Romney in the blend. There is very little 'veggie matter' or trash in this roving - quite clean.

From happy sheep living on a farm in Western North Carolina, these Romney wool locks are hand dyed in saturated, multi-dimensional shades of orange.

Add excitement and luster to spinning and felting projects with these shiny locks. I have spun these to add color to yarns for my hats and used them for needle-felting projects. Locks seem to average 3 inches long. Great character, but not super soft.
