Back Story - "Dougie Fir had been living at the foot of our garden when I discovered him during some routine maintenance. Seemingly he's been there for some time living amongst the rather awkward and jaggy Sitka family of wood sprites. To be honest I think he was grateful to be rescued from amongst their clutches.

Generally he seems like a bit of a sad fellow, his sad eyes show the lie of his forced grin. Personally I just think he needs some decent company and a good cuppa tea, but I think he's disconcerted by his current view from where he can see his former captors. In this case I'm sure that a bit of distance will do more to heal his wounds than any encouragement I can offer."

Felt Bird Ornament

This adorable felt bird sculpture stands at just over 2.5" tall and is 5.5" from the tip of its beak to the end of its tail. Other colours are available on request, but please check the shop first.

It's made of felt and stuffed with recycled polyester filling and it is entirely hand sewn by Jolene. It also features wire legs and seed bead eyes.

This particular bird will look adorable on any shelf, mantelpiece, or unfilled space in your home; alternatively it could be used as a pincushion if you can bring yourself to stab its cute little head!

Whilst this item has been made to be as robust as possible it is not a toy and will not withstand the sort of heavy handling that comes with childhood play.

These kits contain enough felt, thread and stuffing to make one very lovely and festive hanging bird ornament as shown in the first picture. Detailed instructions are also included.

The stitches used are blanket and lazy daisy (directions and included for these) and the felt is eco-spun felt which is made from recycled plastic bottles. It's very hard wearing and has a nice thickness.

You'll need scissors and a sewing needle and a little bit of time.

This is Gravalsh, a small and relatively friendly little demon intent on world domination, or failing that bringing about an apocalypse. Happily, he's too small and of lowly intellect so the odds of achieving either of these goals are rather limited.

He does however excel at looking surprised by any number of innocuous and otherwise unsurprising events, most usually his failed attempts to escape from high shelves this, generally proves to be the first and most difficult hurdle to his erstwhile schemes.

Personally I think he just needs a loving home and some positive influences in his life, something that's been sadly lacking in his life to date!?

In this case the grain of the wood has led to something of an austere character, Conway, no doubt a retired sgt major prone to shouting at his troops and blowing pipe-smoke in their eyes ...

... all my carvings are one-of-a-kind and are worked in a manner to simply reveal what was already in the wood before I began working on them, the final form is entirely born of what I see in the wood itself.

I've found that these to be great as gifts or as ornamentation / decoration on shelves, book shelves or any nook or cranny that needs a little something extra.

Not really a mystic bowl ... obviously! However, the design is, at least in part, inspired by crop circles, stone circles and other circular things. The design on the underside of the bowl exactly mirrors that on top.

Papier mache bowl rendered to create a crackled surface and overpainted with acrylics and gloss effect finish.

Whilst the bowl is pretty and decorative in it's own right, it would also make a pretty centre piece, perhaps with some dried flowers and petals or a range naturally coloured of pebbles.

I'll grant you that it doesn't look like a mushroom, although that's precisely where the inspiration for this piece was derived ... it's definitely an abstract in that respect!

The Avenger wears a permanent frown borne from years of bravely battling against those who would disturb the peace and tranquillity of the enchanted glen whence he lives ... he may well wear a permanent frown but he also wears a mask to hide it. Surely the ultimate fashion accessory for any would-be super-hero.

Most recently the avenger is to be found terrorising some over ambitious and unlicensed lumberjacks who have seen fit to invade his corner of the world, fortunately for his woodland friends The Avenger knows just the trick for disabling chainsaws and is a dab hand when it comes to dulling the cutting edge of axes ...

As with all the carvings in the shop this is completed entirely using a small selection of hand tools over what often seems like a prolonged period of time.

Eric is one of those chaps you meet who's always so keen to help, packing bags, carrying groceries, helping little old women of the wood across the stream.

Regrettably his slightly maniacal smile does lend him something of a worrying air and often the poor soul to whom he has offered his services will see all manner of horrors behind his off-centred eyes and run screaming and wailing in the opposite direction ... often dropping their belongings behind them.

Being a helpful soul Eric is inclined to pick these items up and attempt to return them which invariably ends up in a cat and mouse chase through the enchanted glen and which has seen the hero of our piece on the wrong side of a cell door on more than one occasion ... poor mis-understood eric and his peculiar ways.

Larry is something of an unpredictable fellow prone to contradictory outbursts espousing first one position in an argument before immediately taking up the other, of course this may have something to do with the argumentative mouth-piece that resides on the back of his head.

Some have suggested that Larry has become unstable over the years, no doubt as a rsult of continually having to justify himself to, well, himself. Inevitably his 'sap' pressure has risen to levels where his health really has been compromised, indeed, you can see it in his bulging eye!
