Glass Mobile - Circles in Blue and Green

Glass pieces are individually crafted and I make the steel structure out of galvanized wire so it will not rust with age. I engineer the structure so that the mobile dances and the glass pieces will never smack (it is not a wind-chime).

I make glass mobiles - a simple display of hanging glass. Kinetic, like Calder's work, but primarily just a gorgeous display of glass in all its properties.

This particular mobile highlights blue and green glass

Kinetic, like Calder's work, but primarily just a
gorgeous display of glass in all its properties.

This particular mobile highlights primary colors: blue, red, yellow, green, purple, orange and there is one small black piece that I sign. The boom-a-rang shapes are a direct honor of Alexander Calders work... he would call shapes like these "fish bones". I think they feel like flight - funky retro shapes that look like boom-a-rangs.

For a slightly larger version:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10592020
Necklace and Earrings Set

$105.00
This jewelry set is a collaboration between myself and my friend Judi (whos Etsy store is http://CurlyGirlGlass.etsy.com )

The beautiful necklace is made of 3 blue glass pendants, the center one has a lovely forsythia blossom "drawn" onto the face of the glass puddle. I made the branch by torchworking the bark and the yellow buds and leaves, constructing a pretty little branch (I am so very inspired by the blooming spring trees), and then using a kiln to fire the puddle and branch together. This leaves a delicious textural effect that is un-obtainable in any other method.

Judi has taken my puddles and wrapped them in silver and created this beautiful necklace and earring set. The necklace is hung by a leather cord (the clasp is handmade by her as well!). I gave her little bitty puddles of the same blue glass to make matching earrings as well.

As the trees bloom and the flowers decorate the grass in the spring rain - I am inspired to make these yummy glass puddles. Now to have them wearable - with matching earrings! Oh my - I love it!

This is a set - comes as a necklace and earrings. For individual pieces (rather than a set) please feel free to contact me.
Chakra Circles Mobile - small

$55.00
Details:
- dimensions: approx 2ft long, 3" wide
- the last picture listed shows the mobile hanging
- the small pendant hangs from the bottom, its just a small touch of yumminess from me to hang off the bottom of the mobile

The inspiration for this mobile came from work my mother does with healing light energy. She has been teaching me about the Chakras ever since she began studying the healing arts. I designed the mobile to mimic the visual representation of the seven Chakras.

There are 7 rotating colored glass discs in this mobile, each disc representing one of the seven Chakras.

Most of my mobiles are asymmetrical and I like that this mobile is linear and centered, it feels very grounding, which is so fitting for a Chakra mobile.
________________________

the following description of the Chakras will be included with this handmade mobile:
________________________

Chakras are the energy centers of the body. Imagine them as whirling wheels of light and color -- each charka relates to different emotions and systems in the body. They have no physical structure and can shift around the body, but are most often visualized running down the midline of the body.

In general, the lower chakras relate to the physical body and the upper chakras relate to mental or emotional activity -- friendship, spirituality, and intuition. The heart chakra is the bridge between the mental and the physical.

There are seven primary chakras:

The root chakra -- muladhara -- is represented by the color red. This is the chakra where we ground ourselves, and thus is it located at the lowest point of the body’s midline: the base of the spine or the groin. It governs the sense of the body and our connections with the family we were born to and/or raised in.

The sacral chakra -- swadhisthana -- is represented by the color orange. This is the sexual and creative center, and is located in the lower belly (or the womb, on a woman). It governs creativity of all kinds and our connections with friends and lovers.

The navel chakra -- manipura -- is represented by the color yellow. This chakra governs digestion, both of food and of life experiences. It governs the relationship with yourself and is where inner decisions are made.

The heart chakra -- anahata -- is represented by the color green. This is where the physical and spiritual halves of the self meet. It is also where strong emotions (like love and hate) reside. The heart chakra is located at the center of the body, just to the side of your physical heart.

The throat chakra -- vishuddha -- is represented by the color blue. This is the chakra of communication, both spoken and unspoken. Trust and the truth often reside here.

The third eye or brow chakra -- aina or anja -- is represented by the color indigo. Located on the forehead, this chakra governs vision, insight, and intuition.

The crown chakra -- sahasrara -- is represented by the color white. It is located at the top of the head, where a baby’s soft spot would be. This energy center connects us to a higher power. Meditation and healing can open this chakra, allowing us to touch the potential of the Universe.

There are hundreds of “minor” chakras throughout the body, but these are the seven big ones.
Kinetic, like Calder's work, but primarily just a
gorgeous display of glass in all its properties.

This particular mobile highlights primary colors: blue, red, yellow, green, purple and orange.

this mobile occupies about 1.5 feet in diameter...
for a slightly larger piece:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15028897

or a larger version:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5258035

and look around my shop for other different sizes and color arrangements. Having lots of scraps around from making large glass mobiles, I was tempted to make myself a little miniature one for my car. The rear view mirror spins this little puppy like a gyroscope! Its so much fun!

They bring me smiles everyday - I had to share!

This one is made of Red and Black glass. Alexander Calder liked using these colors - so its somewhat of an homage to him. Its also just a powerful combination. Looks great and its quite handsome.

Its is a really fun little miniature mobile. In the car it never stops moving - and honestly they look great in windows and just about any little spot that is itching for a bit of fun.

-Enjoy!

Free Domestic Delivery!

This mobile is both playful and yummy - and it could be yours!

Handmade mobile for the home, office or garden. Glass pieces are individually crafted and I make the steel structure out of galvanized wire so it will not rust with age. I engineer the structure so that the mobile dances and the glass pieces will never smack (it is not a wind-chime).

Mobile is shipped UPS ground Insured - all pieces of
glass are individually wrapped - the mobile is
shipped FULLY ASSEMBLED and ready to hang...
simply unwrap each glass piece and pick up from
the copper hook. The mobile will dangle down from
that hook and weigh less than 10lbs, which makes a
good hook (like for a potted plant) in the ceiling
suitable for hanging.

Get Kinetic

This kit includes everything you need to make your own little miniature glass mobile. All you need is a pair of pliers - everything else is included.

Kit Includes: 4 Steel Wires with Glass Pieces Attached, 1 Swivel, 1 Loose wire, 1 S-Hook, 3 O-Rings and some easy to read Instructions

My little Mobile Making Kit comes in a small clear plastic tube - easy to wrap - makes a great gift for that fun crafty person.

Once finished, the mobile made can be hung from anything. It will be approximately 5"-10" in diameter (depending on what you make! - Get creative and have fun!)

Very fun - it could take as little as 10-15minutes to complete this project - it could also be just the beginning of a whole weekend of fun! You could make a mobile, discuss kinetic art, go to the Art Museum and gaze at a Calder mobile and smile a lot. I promise you will have a great time!

CAUTION - AGE APPROPRIATE - this kit is intended for adults and young adults. The glass pieces are smooth but small (about the size of coins, from a quarter to a Canadian dime) and the wires are unbent (pointy at the end) so this project is not suited for small children who eat inedible things and could possibly poke their eyes. Please do not let this happen. Adults and young adults can more safely play. I feel somewhat silly saying all this, but it seemed appropriate to state!

Enjoy!

FREE Domestic Shipping! FREE!

Assembly required :)

Sweet Pea Glass Necklace

$65.00
This jewelry set is a collaboration between myself and my friend Judi (whos Etsy store is http://CurlyGirlGlass.etsy.com )

The beautiful pale green pendant measures about 1" in diameter and has a lovely blossom "drawn" onto the face of the glass puddle. I made the branch by torchworking the bark and the petals and leaves, constructing a pretty little branch (I am so very inspired by the blooming spring trees), and then using a kiln to fire the puddle and branch together. This leaves a delicious textural effect that is un-obtainable in any other method.

As the trees bloom and the flowers decorate the grass in the spring rain - I am inspired to make these yummy glass puddles. Now to have them wearable - with matching earrings! Oh my - I love it!

Judi has taken my puddle and wrapped it with copper foil using the stained-glass method and soldered with lead-free solder. The bail ring and clasp are sterling silver. The glass has been fully annealed and the necklace is hung on a handsome leather cord (the clasp is handmade by Judi as well!). The leather cord is approx. 16" long.

I love the way the pale green and the pale flowers look with the lovely silver setting. The little curly at the top that holds the leather cord is asymmetrical and it makes me think of a sweet pea plant. With the pale green color, I just think this is delicious.

The leather cord is aprox. 16" long.

Crafty Kit - make your own mini glass kinetic art

$20.00
Feeling Crafty? Get Kinetic

This kit includes everything you need to make your own little miniature glass mobile. All you need is a pair of pliers (or two if you feel so inclined), even small jewelry pliers will do the job, regular handy pliers are perfect. That is all you will need.

Assembly required

Kit Includes: 5 little pieces of glass on wire. One is a black glass dot (this is used to hang the stick the mobile to something) and the other pieces are Blue, Orange, Yellow and Red. The glass pieces have been fired onto steel wire. The steel is dark from the kiln and completely stuck to the steel, not removable. Kit also includes one full rotation swivel and a couple of small 0-rings. Also included are directions for hanging and a one time use sticky adhesive dot.

Once finished, this little handmade mobile can stick onto anything, a wall, a window, in the office or the bathroom!

This little glass mobile is just a smile-maker. Comes with everything you need to stick it up - and its completely removable with no marks left behind. Includes directions :)

Very fun - it could take as little as 10-15minutes to complete this project - it could also be just the beginning of a whole weekend of fun! You could make a mobile, discuss kinetic art, go to the Art Museum and gaze at a Calder mobile and smile a lot. I promise you will have a great time!

CAUTION - the glass pieces are small (about the size of coins, from a quarter to a Canadian dime) and the wires are unbent (pointy at the end) so this project is not suited for small children who eat inedible things and could possibly poke their eyes. Please do not let this happen. Adults and young adults can more safely play. I feel somewhat silly saying all this, but it seemed appropriate to be honest!

Enjoy!

Its inspired by a tree in my backyard that I hang glass circles from. This tree looks so beautiful and I thought it'd be fun to make a little glass version of it. The baubles are removable and there are 6 of them.

I have used a torch to create a borosilicate glass band and precision sized it with a jewelers mandrel.

You will receive exactly the ring picture above, in a handmade box. Size 6 US

These rings are made of Pyrex glass so that they are strong and durable. They have the smoothness and comfort of delicate glass jewelry – but they are so strong that you can drop them and they bounce!

“I have worn my dichroic ring everyday for
the past 4 years and I love it!
It has held up beautifully and
strangers compliment me all the time.”
-Helen Vank, customer

It is glass, so accidents happen and I bear no responsibility. Please be careful.

Glass pieces are individually crafted and I make the steel structure out of galvanized wire so it will not rust with age. I engineer the structure so that the mobile dances and the glass pieces will never smack (it is not a wind-chime).

I make glass mobiles - a simple display of hanging glass. Kinetic, like Calder's work, but primarily just a
gorgeous display of glass in all its properties.

This particular mobile highlights this beautiful orange glass, and it is complimented by another bright orange-red. On the one side there is a splash of blue, the two blues go nicely with the yummy orange. I love orange!

I have been working with Portland artist Jan Christine, experimenting printing onto glass with her hand-carved blocks. The images are then fired into the glass and will remain encased and permanent.

The print on this mobile is an abstract representation of puddle patterns. When I look at the round pieces of glass I see puddles and the patterns the water makes when its raining.

This handmade mobile can be hung in the home, office or garden. The glass pieces are individually crafted and I make the steel structure out of galvanized wire so it will not rust with age. Having lots of scraps around from making large glass mobiles, I was tempted to make myself a little miniature one for my car. The rear view mirror spins this little puppy like a gyroscope! Its so much fun!

They bring me smiles everyday - I had to share!

This one is made of turquoise and brown glass. I love this combination.

This is a really fun little miniature mobile. In the car it never stops moving - and honestly they look great in windows and just about any little spot that is itching for a bit of fun.

-Enjoy!

Free Domestic Delivery!

Swimming in the Ocean - Glass Mobile Collaboration

$225.00
Title: Swimming in the Ocean
Dimensions: 2.5ft wide and 2.5ft long
the largest cirle is 4" in diameter

This is a collaboration between myself and artist Amanda of Bread and Badger http://breadandbadger.etsy.com

Each blue circle is hand-etched by Amanda with a unique little ocean creature. Each design is etched freehanded with a dental drill, one line at a time, giving it personality and character. There is a shark, an octopus, crab, jelly fish, sea horse and a sea turtle! I then took the glass pieces and constructed a mobile out of them. So the mobile is a sea of creatures in different blues.

This is a handmade mobile for the home, office or garden. Glass pieces are individually crafted and I make the steel structure out of galvanized wire so it will not rust with age. I engineer the structure so that the mobile dances and the glass pieces will never smack (it is not a wind-chime).
