'Buff Cochin' is, as the title suggests, a portrait of a Buff Cochin, a lively and fluffy hen. I've always thought that chickens are under-appreciated. While most people think of hens and roosters simply as food or farm-country livestock, I see them as complex and fascinating creatures. Hens are gorgeous, definitely one of the most exotic and fanciful birds in the animal kingdom; not only in appearance, but equally in personality.

This is a hand-printed, 6-layer silkscreen. A beautiful piece of artwork, this print was created in a limited edition of 10, with this particular piece printed on white Rives BFK paper. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist.

As you might guess from the majority of my other work for sale on Etsy, I ADORE birds. I love drawing their delicate expressions and patterns and feathers. I grew up with bird feeders in clear-view of the important rooms in the house. Once a starling found his way into our fireplace, and I carefully fished him out.

This particular group of three birds is symbolic of place. Each bird is indigenous to a place I've lived, and placing them together is a simple way for me to record and remember my own history.

Dimensions: 4" x 6"

Each bird is a hand-printed lithograph. Lithography is a particularly interesting printmaking medium, albeit complex and time consuming. These prints originated as grease-pencil drawings done directly onto a traditional lithographic stone, and were printed using oil-based inks and high quality, cotton rag paper. Stone lithography is a beautiful process that is slowly becoming archaic as these stones, harvested from a single quarry, disappear.

Each print is numbered and signed by the artist, and each set of birds comes with the same number from each edition.
These are prints number 1/13, on Rives Lightweight (a soft cream paper).

Growing up in the country, it didn't take me long to grow a fondness for barn cats. Eventually moving to the city, I found myself enamored with a different sort of cat: Window Cats! Window cats are, as I'm sure you could guess, the felines who sit in windows and gaze stoically (or less stoically, in some cats' cases) at you as you walk past. They come in all shapes and sizes, all ages and personalities. Some stare at you, some stare through you, and others are completely distracted by the birds or bugs that are frustratingly out of reach. Regardless, all of these Window cats are handsome or adorable or beautiful, and they never cease to amuse me.

Thus, the Window Cats series was born. Window Cats are hand-printed, 12-layer screenprints on static-cling vinyl window decals. Printed backwards-to-forwards, Window Cats are double-sided, with the smooth, vinyl side (the part that sticks on the glass) showing the cat's face, and the textured ink side revealing the cat's back. In lieu of framing, Window Cats are pieces of artwork that can be displayed for the world to see just by simply sticking it onto the glass of a window pane! So those outside the window see the cat's cute face, while those inside see its cute back.

This is an all-black Window Kitten, and she measures around 8" x 10." Each kitten is numbered and signed, printed in a limited edition of 25.

Each kitten is potty-trained and static-cling adhering.

This is Daisy, my grey 8-year-old tabby. She's an attention addict, and if you're not petting her she is not happy! She is also a percher, and loves hanging off your lap, your legs, or even your shoulders if you'll let her climb that high!

Here I am again, making more animal prints. I can't help my love for furry/fluffy/feathery friends!

This is Dobby, my roommate's 2-year-old orange tabby. He still very much acts like a kitten, stampeding about our small apartment looking crazed! He's one of those cats that you have to feed proper meals, or he'll eat you out of house and home. But he's a sweetheart, and will plop down in your arms when you're trying to type, purring up a storm.

Another of my chicken stuffed animals, this time a Hen instead of a Rooster!

Chickens and roosters are completely under-appreciated. Most people think of them simply as food or farm-country livestock, but I see them as complex and fascinating creatures. Chickens are gorgeous, definitely some of the most exotic and fanciful birds in the animal kingdom; not only in appearance, but equally in personality.

I've made a good amount of chicken-love artwork, but these were my first attempts at the 3 dimensional. Rooster & Hen Plushies are machine and hand-sewn. And if you notice their lovely feathering, you'll see that their plumage was hand silk-screened!

A beautiful piece of artwork and a wonderful addition to the family, this lovely lady (both a stuffed animal & a print) was created in a limited edition of 20. She is extremely plump and huggable, the perfect size to fit in your arms!
