They come in a continuous roving of combed wool – also called “top”.

Soft luxury and brilliant color for spinning or felting. These blends make gorgeous handspun, handknit lace shawls and scarves. 2 of these is enough fiber for a shawl, one for a scarf.

They are just the right fibers for nuno-felted scarves (the fibers felted onto a silk base fabric) –light and airy, soft next to the skin.

Wool is naturally resistant to dirt and stains, so it seldom needs washing – airing is the best, as well as setting it outside in freezing weather if possible. Called "New Zealand's cashmere", this carded blend of fine Romney wool and NZ possum fur at 80/20 proportions is as warm and light as muskox fur (qiviut) or cashmere, at a fraction of the price.

In NZ this blend is used extensively in the commercial trade for sweaters, scarves, hats, socks and even cozy underwear. The fur is bound by the fine wool and doesn't tend to shed in the finished garment. The surface gets a beautiful halo of fuzz and the feel is soft,soft.

The warp yarn is 60/40 kid mohair/merino which I hand-painted to make a variegated yarn to highlight the weft colors. The random placement of colors in both warp and weft simply dance in the light.

The shawl measures approximately 25 inches by 76 inches plus twisted fringes. I recommend a short, cool wash on gentle or handwash, air fluff and lay flat to dry.

I love designing these color blends of 80% Merino wool and 20% shiny, white bombyx silk.

They come in a continuous roving of combed wool - also called "top".

Soft luxury and brilliant color for spinning and felting. These blends make gorgeous handspun, handknit lace shawls and 2 of these is enough fiber for a shawl.

They are just the best fibers for nuno-felted scarves (the fibers felted onto a silk base fabric) - so light and airy.
