The Black Winged Stilt is a bird that frequents lagoons in countries around the Mediterranean - and of all the birds that do, it has the longest legs relative to their size! And believe me - they are long! On a recent trip to the south of Spain, we saw them feeding in amongst Flamingoes. This Stilt's image is reflected perfectly in the water, with only a few ripples to disturb it.

This a linocut that I produced after watching a female eider duck follow her baby along the length of a beach. The baby eider set off with mum following at a safe distance! It is one of my favourite linocuts - so much so in fact that you will see that I have used it as my logo. You can see a photograph that we took of the eider that inspired me in photo #5.

This is a linoprint that I produced after cycling along Loch Lochy - a loch that forms part of the 'Great Glen' stretching between Fort William and Inverness in Scotland. The day was very quiet and the mountains were reflected perfectly in the still waters of the loch.

These two cormorants were sitting atop the wooden buffers that the ferries that travel between the San Juan Islands use to guide them in to harbour. They seemed to be doing a pretty good job of keeping watch!

What a lovely bird a road runner is. They aren't very good at flying but they can run as fast as 17 mph! They have to run that fast so that they can catch the snakes they like to eat. All those facts were enough to motivate me to produce a linocut of one!

I took inspiration for this linoprint from a photograph that we took at Calanais (pronounced Callanish) standing stones on the Isle of Lewis which is part of the Outer Hebrides, off the north western tip of Scotland.

Calanais standing stones were erected around 3000 BC and are arranged in a cross shape. The stones are 'Lewisian gneiss', a rock type typified by bands of different minerals. This stripy texture made the stones a perfect subject for a linoprint.

This listing consists of 5 pieces of delicate, brightly coloured writing paper, with matching envelopes, each printed with an original linocut of a lapwing in flight. The lapwing is a very special bird, sometimes called a "peewit" after the sound it makes when it calls. This particular lapwing belongs to a flock that we see flying in the fields behind our cottage.

The paper is roughly A5 sized (14 x 21 cm or 6 x 8 inches) and the pack comes with 5 matching coloured envelopes. All is wrapped in a cellophane sleeve for protection and a card backer for rigidity.
