I've been creating these beauties since the late nineties, but I took a break for a bit and now "Pretty Petals Candles" are back!

Standard size large pillar: 3" diameter, approx. 3"+ tall

Would go nicely in any holder that doesn't hide the leaves... could be a simple plate, a sophisticated or pretty holder, a country style holder, a bohemian look holder, even a steampunk modified type holder...

THE PROCESS / ABOUT THE CANDLE:
I've pressed and dried these real flowers and/or leaves for long enough to remove all their moisture; there are no added colors or chemicals.

Then the pressed natural materials are sealed onto this candle in a protective special process using plain paraffin wax; no weird additives involved!

The resulting candle has a remarkable look, whether lighted or not; it is unscented and you'll know it is made in NY, not imported. Looks nice in any type candle holder.

CAN I BURN IT?
Burning instructions are included in package (including suggestion of alternative to burning entire candle: you may burn down a bit and then insert a tealight-style candle cup for very longtime beauty).

Watch how long you burn a candle because any candle will drip if you burn it long enough to accumulate heat in outer layers of wax.

Also mentioned is that, for best results, keep anything with wax or pressed natural materials away from bright light or extreme heat.

This is a very well-made little bag, perfect to be used as a purse by a little girl, or around the neck as a pouch for money etc. for an adult person. Tightly woven and really cute! The small reddish-brown tube-bead on the front and tied fringe accent it well. Clean and in new condition.

Size is 5" wide x 3 3/4" tall for only the pouch. The strap is 32" from end to end (the end being where it begins to be attached to the pouch).

The colors in photos can be misleading, so I will tell you that the colors are bright and quite similar to the standard Crayola colors. (They are not odd shades, but pretty standard colors.)

The money from this sale will go to my son. He is saving his money for who knows what!! Little minds have great dreams!! He just wants someone to enjoy it. He made it as a school project and it is a keeper for some little girl out there...

Oh, and no names anywhere on it. If you wash it, do so in cool water and by hand, but you probably won't need to do so very often.

I've pressed and dried these real flowers and/or leaves for long enough to remove all their moisture; there are no added colors or chemicals.

Then the pressed natural materials are sealed onto this candle in a protective special process using plain paraffin wax; no weird additives involved!

The resulting candle has a remarkable look, whether lighted or not. Candlesticks are unscented!

CAN I BURN IT?
Burning instructions are included in package. Candlesticks are primarily for decorative use. If you choose to burn them, only burn down to about an inch above where the plant materials are placed, to be safe. The candles look lovely as they are, or burned some if you like that look.

Also mentioned is that, for best results, keep anything with wax or pressed natural materials away from bright light or extreme heat.

PACKAGING:

THE OTHER HERALD

Format of issues varies, but subscription is for one year of issues and when you see each issue you will know you are getting your money's worth! Each is at least 8 1/2 x 11 size. Some are 8 1/2 x 14 size. About once every year, an issue is replaced by "the next big thing", a larger-format booklet-style issue; this surprise issue is included in a subscription, others must pay $3 for a copy.

Completely full of great stuff (at least we think so, and our subscribers agree)...

Our most recent current issue is sent right out, at the time of your order. The rest of the year's issues are sent as they come out...

Some issues are themed. Every one is uniquely different! Treat yourself to this little indulgence! Small enough a publication that you can enjoy it fully over lunch. (No stacks of dusty unread magazines for us, or for you!) Fits in your purse or pocket!

ANSWERS TO YOUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Start date?
Will receive current issue, and then the following one, unless specifically request past issues as part of subscription period (allowed, as supplies last; must send a "conversation" in Etsy to me, asking for this).

Other lengths?
Subscriptions are a discounted cover price plus postage per each issue, plus fees on Etsy/paypal. You may instead choose a different length of subscription, of six months or more, just convo me to set up an item at correct price...

Issues include good poems, prose, stories, essays, etc., as well as fun writing exercises for writers, info of interest, articles, Woman Poet column, lots of writing/ submissions opportunities, and sometimes comic, art, other.

Who writes TOH articles, poems, etc?
Writers from ALL over are "Heralded" in TOH, especially those from WNY. Editor sometimes contributes articles. Virginia Lee Hines, of Rochester, NY contributes a monthly column: Woman Poet. Various other local writers in WNY contribute articles, events info, comics, art, etc. Very few repeats of writers/artists featured in TOH; we wish to "Herald" as many as possible, for as many years as possible.

Can I buy just one copy?
Yes! See other Etsy items available in my shop. 50 cents cover price, plus postage stamp.

Can I submit my own writing to TOH?
We love the un-ordinary, so send us your best stuff! More info by email to theotherherald@yahoo.com with "Submissions info" in subject line.

What if I don't live in the U.S.?
Contact me for calculation of added postage costs and we will work that out for you. Everything is possible, right!

What if I don't get my issue?
Don't worry if you don't have your issue on the 1st of the month; it takes time and patience for a fine wine... most issues are completed and mailed out within the first week of the month. If there are unforeseen circumstances, then at the very latest mid-month.

I've been creating these beauties since the late nineties, but I took a break for a bit and now "Pretty Petals Candles" are back!

Standard size large pillar: 3" diameter, 3"+ tall
All are white/unscented

THE PROCESS / ABOUT THE CANDLE:
I've pressed and dried these real flowers and/or leaves for long enough to remove all their moisture; there are no added colors or chemicals.

Then the pressed natural materials are sealed onto this candle in a protective special process using plain paraffin wax; no weird additives involved!

The resulting candle has a remarkable look, whether lighted or not; it is unscented and you'll know it is made in NY, not imported. Looks nice in any type candle holder.

CAN I BURN IT?
Burning instructions are included in package (including suggestion of alternative to burning entire candle: you may burn down a bit and then insert a tealight-style candle cup for very longtime beauty).

Watch how long you burn a candle because any candle will drip if you burn it long enough to accumulate heat in outer layers of wax.

Also mentioned is that, for best results, keep anything with wax or pressed natural materials away from bright light or extreme heat.

PACKAGING:

I've been creating these beauties since the late nineties, but I took a break for a bit and now "Pretty Petals Candles" are back!

Standard size large pillar: 3" diameter, approx. 6" tall
White / unscented

THE PROCESS / ABOUT THE CANDLE:
I've pressed and dried these real flowers and/or leaves for long enough to remove all their moisture; there are no added colors or chemicals.

Then the pressed natural materials are sealed onto this candle in a protective special process using plain paraffin wax; no weird additives involved!

The resulting candle has a remarkable look, whether lighted or not; it is unscented and you'll know it is made in NY, not imported. Looks nice in any type candle holder.

CAN I BURN IT?
Burning instructions are included in package (including suggestion of alternative to burning entire candle: you may burn down a bit and then insert a tealight-style candle cup for very longtime beauty).

Watch how long you burn a candle because any candle will drip if you burn it long enough to accumulate heat in outer layers of wax.

Also mentioned is that, for best results, keep anything with wax or pressed natural materials away from bright light or extreme heat.

PACKAGING:
Whether you are buying as a gift or for yourself... Your candle order will arrive each (1 pillar or set of 2 candlesticks) in a clear poly bag, tied with raffia or ribbon to accent. A small piece of paper with burning instructions is included, and a clear sticker seals the bag, mentions "Pretty Petals Candles" and where they are made.

Lamp plugs into a standard U.S. outlet; there are two prongs on plug.

Cord is short, but if you choose may be increased in length with a modern extension cord.

Please note I have NOT packed a ridiculous amount of lights into this bottle, since that would cause the bottle to become very hot, even with short uses. The bottle may become warm with use. Therefore, do not leave lamp on a surface which would be damaged from heat. If it becomes very warm, you may have used for a long time and should give it a rest to cool.

DISCLAIMER: Because the lights' original packaging warns of possible (rare) electrical mishaps, I suggest that you not leave lamp unattended, such as overnight. (Please, for my peace of mind, do not use as a night-light. Thank you.) Packaging materials and bulbs from original packaging of lights will be included with your lamp.

This is a one of a kind, hand-bound book with cord and shell button accents. Beautiful buttons. Size is 4 3/4" tall x 5 1/2" wide. The thickness is almost 1/2", when it is just sitting on a table without any hands on it

This is the last one I have, from a book making party with friends. It is very unique and I love it. You will too. The pages are made from all different types of papers, including some recycled pages of a great magazine... DoubleTake.

DoubleTake magazine was around for a while and then they weren't (I was sorry to see them go) and I think now they are publishing, again. Not sure if same layout. Their focus was writing and photos, so the paper of the mag was nice to recycle into such books.

I've used some of the pictures and words, clippings from a couple of other publications, and much more. A couple of MY poems are also included (one is in photo shown here).

Examples of other pages in book are... pictures from DoubleTake magazine: tornado, fire, generic building, family eating together, excerpt from article about William Carlos Williams "Local America" (which is also where some of these photos came from, same issue), etc. (See pictures provided here; includes some of the photos mentioned or others.)

Blank pages are plain white paper, paper with background colors or printing of design, etc... One is a page cut from Georgia O'Keeffe calendar, part of red flower.

A couple of poems I had saved for a long time are also incorporated; I hope you love them also. I just cut the page down and put it in, passing them on, having read them many times: Dragons by Kelly Shepherd, "Did all the dragons in the world/ become extinct..." And "One for Sorrow" by same person, "A magpie spreads its wings, lifts off / throws elm trees aside..."

Cover is from cover of magazine, a soft cover but pretty substantial. Back cover is same. Interior pages include everything from card stock to tissue paper separating some of the pages.

Original poem by T. F. Rice describes the opposite of photo on front (white words in blue sky) by representing blue words in white sky...

Begins, "Odd shapes of / window-cleaner blue / somehow seep through / this season's stark white sky, / every so often appearing / like a spill spreads and then / A P P E A R S / on the / counter through / thick white fluffy / paper towels."

Continues, "We have no small flower print / or decorative messages of hope / printed on our paper-towel-white-sky..."

The poems ends well with "...spell the word H O P E."
