I've made this unique, one of a kind pincushion from an upcycled pottery votive holder. It is green, with a line drawing of a magnolia flower. For the pincushion, I used a bright firey cotton fabric, with reds, oranges, blue dots, and gold accents, stuffed with new polyfil. I've made 6 matching pins from polymer clay to go with.

Pincushion measures 3.5" high X 2.5" across. The pins measure approximately 1.5" long.

This Ukrainian Easter Egg (known as a pysanka, or in plural form, pysanky) was made from a white goose egg, using a wax resist, or batik, process. Each of my eggs are one of a kind; I never do the exact same egg twice!

Pysanky are made in stages. Starting with the white egg, you apply heated beeswax to the egg using a stylus (kistka), and then the egg is submerged into a dye bath. Where the wax is applied, the dye will not penetrate. You continue applying waxing and dyeing the egg through successive dyes, from light to dark so they dye colors will cover each other. Each egg may take hours, depending on the intricacy of the design, and how many dye colors are used.

All of my pysanky are given a few coats of varnish to finish. I can attach an endcap to the egg for hanging if you wish, or the eggs can be displayed in eggcups, on napkin rings, in bowls, etc. They are beautiful hung on a Christmas tree, in an Easter display, or just displayed year round.

I will also take custom orders for pysanka. Feel free to email me with requests and further information. I can do any different designs, and even personalize the eggs with writing (names, dates, etc). At the moment, I can take orders for chicken egg and goose egg pysanka.
