This 100% wool hand felted mat measures 12 x 13 inches and offers a simple but powerful message to “Share” as two sweet birds sing out to each other. The mat can be used on a table top or hung on a wall (a small clasp is on the back of it for hanging). It has been made by a wet felting technique with some small areas needle felted to embellish colors as needed. Once the main felted picture was completed, I used a blanket stitch to attach the mat to a piece of heavy weight dark brown wool to "mat" the main picture and set it off against the dark brown background. This piece is one of a kind and has garnered smiles and positive comments from everyone who has seen it in person. It will bring a spot of joy to your home or office. I find it very hard to photograph felted items; the colors photograph a bit harsh, and the pictures are a bit blurry too. In person the piece is much more appealing.

This 100% wool hand hooked mat measures 13 x 15 inches and is hooked with a large cut of wool in high loops to give it an extra cushy and squishy feel to it. It is almost huggable and is lovely to touch. This friendly pooch is surrounded by two bones and a heart that blend into the mix of vintage style wool colors and his motto “Friend” accompanies him. This mat is fashioned after an antique rug that inspired the design. The back of the rug has been faced with a piece of beautiful brown wool that was over dyed, and the edges have been whip stitched in a folk art style. This rug hooking pattern is hand drawn on primitive linen and is based on an antique rug. The pattern measures 20 1/2 inches by 16 1/2 inches before adding a border. I provide ample fabric for you to add a border to your rug, as you please. If you prefer the pattern on monks cloth I can add a reserve listing for you on Etsy at a cost of $5 less for monks cloth.

I show pictures of this pattern from my orignal rug rendition (black/gray background) and from a smaller version (brown background) that I made into a pillow and sold on Etsy. It is a very dear rug when hooked and draws lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" from everyone who sees it.

This sweet little sheep is frolicking over soft green hills and dales and measures 4 1/2 inches high by 6 inches long. He/she is hand made by a combination of needle felting and wet felting technique.

As a rug hooker I am impassioned by wool and my hand made felted sheep are beginning to take over my hooking studio. Every rug hooking, knitting, spinning or quilting studio certainly needs a sheep to watch over the beautiful artistic tools of the wool keeper. Every home can use a sweet sheep to add joy and peacefulness to the environment!

This vintage style mat is 16 1/2 x 19 inches with the edges finished with a gimp braid that complements the rich, yet subtle, hit-n-miss hooking. The rug is so antique in appearance that two interior designers who saw the rug thought I had an antique heirloom in my arms when I went to our local fabrics for the home store to purchase the gimp braid for the edges of this rug. The pictures do not do this rug justice; it is so loveable. It speaks of olde all throughout.

Rug Hooking or Quilting Apron

Rug hookers and quilters love to wear aprons to keep fabric dust off their clothes and to show off their collection of buttons and pins! Wear an apron that makes a statement and will get the attention of all your friends! My aprons are very popular and give everyone a smile in the process.

If you're a quilter, I have many quilting/sewing pictures that can be adapted for aprons (see my pinback buttons for sewing/quilting examples).

These aprons are an off white "natural" color and made of 50/50 cotton and polyester. They are a comfortable weight and have two pockets for your hooking or sewing tools. They are sure to bring raves from your friends!

To select your apron and choice of graphic, simply provide the name of the apron in the comments area when you complete the checkout process to pay for the apron. I will make your apron order up to your specifications.

Needle Felted Sheep - I do, I do, I do love wool

This sweet little sheep is wearing a banner that says "I do, I do, I do love Wool" and is sitting on a felted base. Through a combination of needle felting and wet felting I have created a 100 percent wool sheep measuring 2.5 inches wide by 7 inches high.

This is my rendition of an actual antique rug of two cats, but I changed the border for this rug to match a second antique rug that had a fabulous hit-n-miss border. The rug is very vintage in appearance and measures 28 x 33 inches and is hooked in 8.5, 9.5 and 10 cuts of 100% wool on primitive linen. The colors of wool were intentionally selected to make the rug look old! I am proud of how vintage this rug appears in person. The rug is actually a little more muted than the colors appear in the photos, due to camera flash. It is a real heirloom treasure and a little hard for me to part with, but I'll hook it again someday since it was so fun to make!

This is my rendition of an actual antique rug of a kitten and dog. The finished rug measures 16 x 25 inches and is hooked with 100% wool on primitive linen. The colors of wool were intentionally selected to make the rug look old and vintage in appearance. The dog's body is two wools, similar in color and selected to achieve the look of an antique rug in the manner rugs were hooked in the past, by using whatever wool was available in similar colors. The rug is actually a little more muted than the colors appear in the photos, due to camera flash. I am proud to say I achieved a good vintage appearance in this rug. It is almost cuddly because it's so sweet when you see it in person. It is a real heirloom treasure and a little hard for me to part with, but I'll hook this pattern again someday since it was so fun to make!

The runner can serve as a table runner, wall hanging or smaller welcome rug in a doorway.

This is a great pattern for using left over scraps of wool or worms from other projects that are sitting and waiting for use in a new rug creation! The finished rug has a very homey and antique look. I finished my runner with a gimp braid that compliments the hit-n-miss hooking and adds to the vintage look of the rug. Hit-n-miss adds a feeling of antiquity but any background style will work to enhance the sweet birds.
