This one of a kind, Melissa Grakowsky original won third place in Bead and Button's 2009 Bead Dreams Competition, in Objects and Accessories. "Ceremonial Headdress" was also just featured on the inside back cover of Ornament magazine in an advertisement for Fire Mountain Gems.

The mask is a standard size and is secured to the head with a beaded toggle at the back of the head. It is fully adjustable, as is the necklace which is also secured with a beaded toggle.

The headdress was hand stitched over a period of five months using a variety of techniques which include bead embroidery, Ndebele stitch, Peyote stitch, and stringing. Different colors and sizes of seed beads, along with pearls and approximately *FIFTEEN GROSS* of Swarovski crystals give the headdress unparalleled sparkle.

The mask and neck piece are backed with Ultrasuede backing for a comfortable wear and each piece is edged with seed beads so there are absolutely no unfinished edges.

The dimensions are 15 inches wide by about 13 inches tall (depending on the wearer). The headdress comes with the custom made display shown in the photographs.

This Hibiscus Necklace was created for the Etsy Beadweaver's "Beauty of the Flower" Challenge! The object of the challenge was to find a photo of a tropical flower and try to model a piece of beadwork after it.

When I saw the photo of the Hibiscus shown in my thumbnails, I knew it was the flower I wanted to use. The color of the petals was so striking to me, especially against the green background. I also loved the shape of the gently curving petals and immediately thought I could model them.

This necklace is fourteen inches long, and made with freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystal bicones and seed beads. The hibiscus flower was stitched mainly with peyote stitch, and the toggle bar and ring were stitched with flat peyote stitch and peyote stitch in the round, respectively.

One of a kind bridal necklace and earrings, handcrafted in the bead stitching technique. Made with marcosite-plated seed beads, glass drop beads, and genuine freshwater pearls. The earrings are sterling silver-plated. Stitched with very strong Toho 1-G beading thread. It will NOT come apart or break!
