This quilt top is a heritage quilt reproduction.
Most fabrics are from the Quaker quilts collection designed by Judie Rothermel, for Marcus Fabrics,
inspired by the Heritage Center of Lancaster County.

I used kona cotton solids for the greens, blue, and gold log cabin blocks.

The small panel blocks are novelty print fabrics from the quaker quilt collection. They are set on point and bordered by reproduction fabric in red to create a pieced block . All log cabin, and star blocks are machine pieced. The large center design is a fabric print which has a pieced black border.

This is an art quilt done in the stained glass style. Moda marble fabrics were used and
warm and natural batting with a kona cotton solid black backing. The binding is
hand sewn and is a moda marble deep red fabric that matches the flower petals.

Lightweight fusible was used and all edges are stitched down with a blanket stitch, the stitching serves as the
quilting also. This quilt would look very well framed for a classic art look, used as a wall hanging, or simply
draped across a chair or sofa back to add a splash of color for the holidays.

A triple border surrounds the quilt and soft yellow 'square in a square' blocks make up the cornerstones.

This quilt has been sewn accurately and free hand

Its springtime, and you can't help but smile when you look at this quilt.

The lattice is pieced and the flowers entwined in the lattice are done in a 'broderie perse' style of applique. (a cut-out motif applied to the background fabric
of a project with stitches matching as close to the same color as possible)

The birds are appliqued to the quilt top using a blanket stitch in coordinating thread color. The silhouette kittens are appliqued with a blanket stitch also.

As you can see, one curious kitten is attempting to make his way up the lattice to get a closer look at his feathered friends. This quilt is freehand machine quilted.
