The oyster shows great patience as the grain of sand begins to grow and grow. The sand eventually turns into a beautiful, smooth, velvety pearl. The oyster has nurtured the once irritant into something of beauty and value.

This analogy can be related to life in so many instances. The story of the pearl is one that I heard in a management training seminar several years ago. They wanted us to relate new employees to grains of sand that we could nurture and help grow into wonderful pearls. I thought it was corny at the time, but I have often thought of that story in relation to other issues in my life and it really does help!
