"Keeping the Dark At Bay"
Way up north where the nights are so cold and long the people there make up for it with warm hearts full of the joy of the season. The coming of winter is always a time for celebration and lights. They all help to hang these glowing lights, stars and strings of cranberries on the pines at the edge of town. There's a hearty stew, hot cocoa and good conversation to keep everyone's energy up. The darkness has no power here!!! Happy Holidays everyone! p.s......don't worry about that little guy placing the stars...he's like a little monkey, and he's tied to the tree for safety (his mother insisted). This primitive folk art painting is done with acrylics on a piece of old, grained Nebraska barn wood. It measures just a bit under 9"" wide and 7" tall ( sides are painted a deep earthy-purple red ) Is ready to hang also (sawtooth hanger on the back) and has a protective finish. "This big, giant pumpkin has been sitting around for awhile.... the crows haves found it and settled in on it...making a nest and also snacking on it.And now the snows have begun to fall...The crows have put on their cold weather gear.... they will still make good use of this pumpkin...but time to toughen up and get ready for the lean,winter months. This primitive folk art sign, painting, is done with acrylics on a piece of old, deeply grained Nebraska barn wood. Witches are usually seen as not too nice and up to no good.....but not this one, really more of a "Do Gooder" sort. a goofy one at that. But she has a heart of gold. Instead of wreaking havoc on Halloween night she visits an isolated village somewhere in the world and assisted by her crew of one, her trusty tuxedo cat, Jingle Bells, passes gifts and toys out to the children.........from her big velvet bag..........Yeah I know....it just so happens that Santa is her BFF! And He's just full of great ideas! Happy Halloween everyone! This primitive folk art painting is done with acrylics on a tiny, gallery wrapped (no staples on sides) Canvas. They would do anything for Santa and all those children who have been so good....mostly anyway.. well good enough.
