I've used an assortment of brown fabrics on this set of 3 round boxes. The fabrics have been stained and sanded to look very old. The boxes range from 2" to 3" in diameter, and the heights range from 1" to 1-1/2". Don't they look so old, all tied up with that grubby gauze?

And look what you get inside of these boxes! The little box holds wee cinnamon sticks, the medium box contains a few whole nutmegs, and in the largest box you'll find a few cedar tips!

This is set of small fabric-covered oval boxes. I've used coordinating brown fabrics on these boxes and they've been stained and sanded to look very old. The smaller box is 2" by 3" and 1-1/4" tall, and the larger box is 2-1/2" by 3-1/2" and 1-1/2" tall. Don't they look so old, all tied up with that grubby gauze?

These snowballs are a mess to make but I love how they turned out! You'll be getting 8 to 10 snowballs in various sizes, ranging from 1" to 3" (assortment varies from bag to bag).

Can't quite give my recipe away here, but I can tell you they're lightweight and there's no fabric involved. :-)

They will arrive in a cello bag with the cute "snowball girl" hangtag, as shown. The vintage basket isn't included, sorry.

Primitive Grubby ORANGE Thanksgiving Pumpkin

Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween! They look great as part of your Thanksgiving centerpiece, and several of my customers tell me they leave their favorite pumpkins out year-round!

I've made this primitive pumpkin from osnaburg. It's painted and stained with coffee and spices so it smells super yummy! This orange pumpkin is 7" wide and 8" tall, and is stuffed with polyfil and "rags" (cotton fabric scraps). I've signed and dated this pumpkin (Tana 2009).

I have 11 pumpkins for sale! I made them in 3 sizes and several colors (black, orange, and white), so if you'd like more, just convo me and I'd be happy to set up a private listing for you! (The black pumpkin in the 2nd picture is sold separately.)

These pumpkins will make a fine addition to your prim Autumn decor! They will look wonderful sitting on an old prim chair, on your hearth, or in your favorite cupboard or pie safe! You could also put them in an old antique basket in the center of your farm table where they would make a wonderful centerpiece!

There are dozens of Cedar Roses in this gathering; they come in a variety of sizes from about 1 inch diameter to almost 2 inches diameter. I gathered the Cedar Roses myself! The Quince is from an herb supplier and resembles dried orange slices.

Add these Cedar Roses and Quince to your favorite potpourri, or display them in a cherished antique wooden bowl, as I have shown here (the bowl in the photo isn't included, sorry!).

Both the Cedar Roses and the Quince are as Mother Nature made them -- free of any added scent. You can easily add your favorite potpourri oil if you would like them scented!

Jingle Kringle - a primitive Santa Claus doll

Jingle Kringle is 21" tall, and made from overdyed wool fabric. I've hand drawn his face in sepia, and also gave him a stitched nose and embroidered eyebrows. His hair and beard are needle-felted sheep's wool. In Jingle's arms, you'll find a couple bunches of sweet annie, a mica-covered snowball, and a string of vintage mercury glass Christmas beads. And of course you realize that Jingle Kringle got his name from the rusty jingle bells along the bottom of his coat!

I've signed Jingle Kringle (Tana Taylor 2008). Jingle would enjoy hanging on your front door, or the door of your favorite primitive cupboard.

Primitive Kitty Cat - made from an antique quilt top

I've made this primitive cat from a piece of antique quilt top that is probably close to 100 years old! Some of the colors in the quilt top are black, white, olive, yellow, brown and red. Kitty's got a rusty wire "collar" with a couple of rusty jingle bells so the birdies can hear her coming! Her back is a black and taupe homespun checked cotton fabric. Kitty is 13" from toe to tail and a petite 7" tall. And of course she's signed and dated (Tana 2008). There's a little stain on the striped fabric on kitty's front; this is part of the history of this vintage textile!

Kitty would be a wonderful addition to your primitive decor! She would look sweet atop a stack of quilts or nestled in your favorite cupboard.

I found this wonderful antique quilt from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It had pretty much been loved to death, but there were a few blocks still good enough to use, so I've turned them into pillows!

Primitive Ditty Bag - Antique quilt top and vintage ticking

I've used a scrap of blue indigo antique quilt top for the upper part of this bag and vintage blue & white feather ticking for the lower part of this bag ... they look so good together!

This ditty bag is 6-1/2" tall and 7" wide. I hand-stitched a drawstring casing with vintage red thread, then laced a coffee-stained thread through the casing to draw this ditty bag closed. I've also stitched a row of naive cross stitches along the mid-seam. I've stained the ticking with my favorite coffee & vanilla stain, but the indigo blue looks wonderful with its many years of natural aging! Because the indigo blue fabric was feeling its age, I've reinforced (lined) it with a scrap of raw silk.

As a special treat, I've filled this primitive ditty bag with nearly 2 cups of this locally-grown (and very fragrant) lavender! The lavender was grown by the Drost Sisters here in Sacramento.

This ditty bag is handmade by me, with vintage materials, and comes from my smoke-free home studio in Northern California.
