Yes! I have the special grommets needed to make the hand spindles out of CDs as seen in Spin-Off magazine and the book "Spin It: Making Yarn from Scratch" (I was the editor of the book!) There was also an episode on Knitty Gritty/DIY on how to do this. The inside diameter of the grommet is 3/8" and the outer diameter is 5/8". After the grommets, all you need is 2 CDs, a 1-3/8" diameter dowel (12" long), an eyehook (3/4" long), and some of my spinning fiber!

I offer these in different quantities, packs of 5, 10, 25 & 50. This listing is for a pack of 5.

French Mistress Vest Knitting Pattern PDF

This pattern is for a knitted vest with an interesting construction. Because it is worked in different directions, it holds your interest while making it and is best suited for the intermediate knitter. It is worked beginning with the center back panel, then stitches are picked up along the sides and worked separately from side-to-side around to fronts. Stitches are then cast on for front panel and worked back and forth while joining body stitches. The only seaming is the shoulder seams.

Sizes: Finished underarm measurements (buttoned) are 38 (42.5, 45.5, 49.5, 52.5)"; Length: 19 (19, 19.5, 20, 20.5)".

Materials: Hand-dyed "Worsted Bundle" yarn (100% Wool, 920 yards; 14 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals: 1 skein; shown in Dragonfly. Straight, 16" and 36" circular knitting needles size 8 US or whatever size needed to get correct gauge. Six 3/4" buttons; stitch holder.

Gauge: 15 sts and 22 rows to 4" in St st.

Stitches used: Stockinette Stitch, Garter Stitch, SSK (slip, slip, knit), and SSSK (slip, slip, slip, knit). These are all explained in the pattern.

Lacy Flower Tam Knitting Pattern PDF

This pattern is for a lacy knit hat that is worked circularly from the stem out to the ribbing, starting on double-pointed needles and then changing to circular needles. It is for an intermediate knitter, or adventurous advanced beginner. The pattern has both complete written instructions and a chart--either one can be followed to knit the hat and both types of knitters will be happy!

Size: Hat is approximately 20" around, and fits 20"-22" head. To make smaller or larger, change the needle size.

Materials: 1 skein Hand-dyed "Superwash Merino Minis" (100% superwash merino wool, 112 yards; 1.75 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals OR Hand-dyed "Sport Wool" yarn (100% Wool, 184 yards; 1.75 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals. (The thinner Sport Wool will result in a lacier hat.) Sizes 7 & 5 US 16" circular knitting needle and size 7 US double-pointed needles or whatever size needed to get correct gauge. Stitch marker & yarn needle.

Gauge: 20 sts and 24 rows to 4" in St st using larger needle.

Stitches used: Knit, purl, bobble, S2KP2, k2tog, ssk, yo, and I-cord. These are all explained in the pattern.

Reversible Rotating Ridge Hat Knitting Pattern PDF

This pattern is for a 2-color knit hat is worked circularly from the stem out to the i-cord brim using simple knit and purl, and is for an advanced-beginner knitter. The increases cause the purl ridges to rotate around.

Size: Hat is approximately 22" around, and fits 22"-24" head. To make smaller or larger, change the needle size or adjust I-cord band decreases accordingly.

Materials: Hand-dyed "Sport Wool" yarn (100% Wool, 184 yards; 1.75 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals: 2 contrasting colored skeins. Double-pointed needles and 16" circular knitting needle size 2 US or whatever size needed to get correct gauge. 4 stitch markers.

Gauge: 28 sts to 4" in St st.

Stitches used: Knit, purl, knitting into the front and back of a stitch, purling into the front and back of a stitch, k2tog, p2tog, picking up stitches, and I-cord. Picking up stitches and I-cord are explained in the pattern.

Four Panel Funky Hat Knitting Pattern PDF

This pattern is for a fun and funky hat that is knitted in 4 panels with triangles that form the top when the panels are sewn together. To give the hat its unique look, you randomly change stitch patterns and colors as you knit, working with only one color at a time, and make each panel different. Instead of sewing in all of the yarn tails at the end, they are used to embellish the hat, giving it a very textural look and funky-fresh feel! The pattern gives you the information on how to make the hat, and suggests different stitch patterns (with how to knit them). Since you decide what colors and stitch patterns to use when, you can make your hat as simple or complex as you like. The first photo shows Nancy Thomas & Adina Klein in their hats that they made, showing how everyone's hat turns out differently, depending on the stitch patterns and colors that are used.

Suited for Adventurous Advanced Beginners/Intermediates

Size: Hat is approximately 21" around and 4-1/2" tall. To make smaller or larger, adjust number of stitches per panel accordingly.

Materials: 4 different colors "Hand-dyed Worsted-plied" (100% wool, 245 yards per 3-1/2 oz. skein) totaling 3-1/2 oz by Bonkers Handmade Originals. 2 Dpns & straight needles size 7 (4.5mm) or whatever size needed to get correct gauge; yarn needle.

Gauge: 18 sts to 4" in St st.

Stitches used: Knit, purl, yarn over, Stockinette Stitch, Garter Stitch, k2tog, and i-Cord. These are all explained in the pattern. You also need to know how to pick up stitches.

Scandia Vest Knitting Pattern PDF

This knit vest with simple shaping is easy enough for a beginner. Worked on size 13 needles using my lovely thick-and-thin Hand-dyed Scandia wool yarn. It is worked in one piece to underarms, then divided for fronts and back. No seaming! The shoulders are worked together using a 3-needle bind-off, which is explained in the pattern.

Sizes: Finished underarm measurements (buttoned) are 38 (43, 46.5, 51.5, 54.75)." Length: 18 (20, 22, 23, 24)".

Materials: Hand-dyed "Scandia" yarn (100% Wool, 62 yards; 4 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals: 4 (5, 6, 7, 7) skeins; shown in Indian Summer. 29" (or longer) circular knitting needle size 13 US or whatever size needed to get correct gauge. Three 1.25" toggle buttons; stitch holders and markers; spare needle (the same size) for 3-Needle Bind-off. Optional: Shorter circular needle or straight needles for after piece is divided for fronts and back.

Gauge: 12 sts to 5" and 16 rows to 4" in St st.

Stitches used: Stockinette Stitch, Garter Stitch, M1 (make 1), SSK (slip, slip, knit), and 3-needle bind-off. These are all explained in the pattern.

Hand-dyed Tencel 'n Merino Spinning Fiber Grab Bags, 4 oz each

Bonkers Handmade Originals presents Tencel 'n Merino Grab Bags! I have grab bags from different batches of 50% tencel /50% merino fiber blend that I hand-dye. Grab bags make it a fun and inexpensive way to have different colors either for spinning, felting, for embellishing in needle felting or other craft work.

This blend is very soft and spins like buttah. The tencel gives the fiber a nice overall sheen. The dye is colorfast and washfast. When spinning this blend, it needs more twist than 100% merino because the tencel is slick.

Each bag is different, so it may not look like the picture here. This is just to give you an idea of what one of my tencel 'n merino grab bags looks like. If you'd like more than what I have listed as available, just let me know! I have lots!

Hand-dyed Superwash Merino Spinning Fiber Grab Bag, 4 oz each

Bonkers Handmade Originals presents Superwash Merino Grab Bags! I have grab bags from different batches of superwash merino fiber that I hand-dye. Grab bags make it a fun and inexpensive way to have different colors either for spinning, for embellishing in needle felting or other craft work.

Superwash means the scales from the wool fibers have been chemically removed so that the fiber won't felt. That means it's machine washable and dryable with no felting. It's very soft and spins like a dream. The dye is colorfast and washfast. When spinning superwash fiber, it's a little slick since there are no scales, so it needs more twist than non-superwash fiber.

Each bag is different, so it may not look like the picture here. This is just to give you an idea of what one of my superwash merino grab bags looks like. If you'd like more than what I have listed as available, just let me know! I have lots!
