Classic white freshwater pearls accented with natural yellow sapphires; simple enough to wear every day, elegant enough that you will want to.

I made these earrings using 9mm drops of natural white freshwater pearl, to which I added 3mm faceted rondelles of natural yellow sapphire.

The pearls are of a very nice quality; exceptionally lustrous and smooth, with a nice iridescence. The sapphires are a cheerful, color saturated yellow, eye clean and of very clear water. Each stone is individually hand-wrapped in sterling silver wire.

The earrings measure about 1/2 inch long, from the bottoms of sterling silver french wire closures.

Smoke blue iolite and mint green prasiolite twine like vines of clematis up chains of sterling silver.

Iolite is a stone best known for one extraordinary optical property: the gemstone changes colors depending upon how it is viewed. A well cut iolite shows its best blue color through the top of the stone, but viewed from another angle the stone may appear to be violet, grey, or even colorless.

The little iolite briolettes that I used here have been cut to fully show off their color shift; from smoke grey to denim blue, with a midway stop at a sort of misty lavender.

The briolettes each measure about 5mm long. They are heart shaped, and slightly included.

Prasiolite, also known as green amethyst, is gaining in popularity as a jewelry stone. The gem quality prasiolite rondelles I used here are about 4mm around, and are a clear, shining pale green.

The earrings measure about 2.25 inches (5.6 cm) long, from the tops of sterling silver french wire closures.

These earrings are really about motion; the color shift, the sparkle, and the little dancing movement are all at their best when you turn your head. I'm showing pictures at different light levels, to try to give you some of the effect.

Some of the natural stones in these earrings have been heated to enhance their beauty.

A flash of radiance in a darkened room. A glimpse of light in the corner of your eye. The mystery of brightness within shadow. The name "opal" derives from a Latin word which means "to see". It's easy to understand why. Opal has a visual magic like no other stone.

These simple, striking earrings are made with 5mm blue-green opals from the Lambina opal mines of southern Australia.

The opals are a blue-tinged white, semi-transparent (which is what makes them crystal opal), with a lovely blue-green fire which I can't photograph to save my life.

Each opal is individually hand wrapped on 14 karat gold-filled wire, and suspended from twisted links of 24k gold vermeil.

The earrings measure just a hair over 3 inches (7.6cm) long, from the tops of 14k gold vermeil french wires.

These are natural, undyed, untreated, solid opals. Clean them only with warm soap or water, avoid extreme temperature changes, and treat them gently. Opals are worth the trouble.

A double drop of royal purple amethyst and strawberry red ruby are suspended together from a sterling silver chain.

The is a simple, classic look, made rich and bold by the contrasting brightness of the pendant stones.

The ruby is of excellent cut and color, translucent, and with some inclusions. The stone measures about 10mm in length, and weighs 3.6 carats. It is a deep, rich pigeon's blood red.

The amethyst is awfully nice, too, with a superb clarity and wonderful color. In low light, it is a velvety, mid royal purple. In strong light, it flashes and sparkles with lilac and reddish-lavender. It is 19mm long, and weighs 16.9 carats. The cut, an unusual elongated teardrop, perfectly compliments the ruby.

Each briolette is wrapped in a shining cocoon of hair-fine sterling silver wire. The staggered chains on which I've suspended them (2.25 and 3 inches long, respectively) depend from a tiny faceted amethyst rondelle on a circle of twisted sterling.

The briolette pendant is balanced at the back with a jeweled extender of tiny ruby and amethyst rondelles on twisted circles.

The necklace is adjustable from 17 inches to 20 inches long, with the pendant adding another 3.5 inches. It is finished with a lobster security clasp in sterling silver.

There are few colors that are fresher and more alluring than the spectacular lemon-gold of natural oro-verde quartz.

I love the contrast of a highly polished, water-clear stone in a relaxed looking, organic wrap setting. Or, you know, lemonade-clear.

For this necklace, I nestled a 13mm (11 carat) faceted lemon quartz briolette drop in a cocoon of fine sterling silver wire.

The drop is hung from an airily delicate sterling cable chain, which I have embellished at the clasp with tiny, perfect faceted rondelles of the same lovely quartz.

Gem quality clouds of tanzanite, rhodolite garnet, and Baltic amber float above two superb red topaz teardrop briolettes.

The briolettes are fire engine, traffic light, that-one-lipstick-your-mom-didn't-like-you-wearing red. In any light at all, they sparkle red and deep pink. They measure about 16mm in length, and have a combined weight of 30carats.

I hung the briolettes from chains of sterling silver, and then decorated the links with sunrise clouds of fine Baltic amber, superbly gemmy tanzanite, and deeper red rhodolite garnet. Each of the little 2 to 3mm rounds and rondelles are suspended individually on sterling silver pins, for freedom of movement, and a dancing sparkle.

The earrings measure about 1.5 inches (3.75cm) long from the tops of oval-shaped sterling leverback closures.

The tanzanites have been heated, of course, to enhance their beauty (unheated tanzanite is brown). The topaz has a very, very subtle mystic coating, which makes it look just slightly iridescent in some lights.

Natural freshwater pearls seem to tumble and float on a triple length of wide-linked silver chain.

It's a look that, in a less lavish presentation, makes me think of blowing soap bubbles in summer. In three strands, it simply becomes a river of pearls.

For this bracelet, I began with rich ivory freshwater pearls in two different styles. There are long oval 6mm rice pearls, and little roundish 4-5mm potato pearls.

Then, for sparkle, I added tiny 2mm microfaceted rondelles of fine white topaz. Every stone is painstakingly hand-wrapped in sterling silver wire and suspended from a three lengths of airy round-linked chain in gleaming sterling silver.

The bracelet pictured measures about 7.5 inches (18.2 cm) long, to allow for easy, graceful movement on the wrist. It is finished with a swansneck hook-and-eye clasp in Hill Tribes silver, which is my favorite for bracelets of this type.

There's something so much more delicate about night blooming flowers. These tiny pink amethysts, so softly, beautifully colored, make me think of the Cereus Cactus, called Queen of the Night, whose flowers bloom only on night a year.

For this necklace, I've wrapped a handful of pink amethyst rondelles in sterling silver, and then connected them with round rings of twisted silver

The amethyst rondelles are a soft purple, so pale that it blushes into pink. They are tiny, measuring only about 2mm long, and are beautifully microfaceted for maximum sparkle.

The princess-length necklace is just under 17 inches (42cm) long, and is finished with a sterling silver filigree locking clasp.

The ruddy golden glow of good madeira citrine has an elegant warmth that feels just perfect for colder days.

For this necklace, I nestled a flawless, faceted madeira citrine briolette drop in an organic looking tangle of 14k gold-filled wire, and hung it from a 14k gold chain.

Then I decorated the links with tiny, brilliant rondelles of hessonite garnet, spinel, and golden citrine, in colors of saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Each of the 2 to 3mm rondelles is suspended individually on 24k gold vermeil pins to move freely with you, for a dancing sparkle.

The citrine is beautifully cut in a fine faceted teardrop shape that comes to a sweet little point at the bottom. It is kind of enormous; nearly an inch (24.5mm) long, and with a weight of 42.5 carats.

I love this rock. It is flawlessly clear, and a burnished cinnamon orange in color. In low light it is like a drop of spiced cider. In strong light, it sparkles with the paler gold of sourwood honey.

The briolette is hung from a length of fine gold-filled cable chain, which I have which I have embellished with an asymmetrical scattering of spinel, citrine, and hessonite garnets, and a handmade extender of the same gemstones, interspersed with twisted circlets of 24k gold vermeil.

The necklace is about is adjustable from 18 to 21 inches (45 to 52.5cm) long, with the pendant adding another 2 inches (5 cm) in length. It is finished with a 14k gold filled lobster security clasp.

There's something strangely, wonderfully calming and meditative about this combination. Tiny faceted specks of grey labradorite cast a quiet rainbow iridescence over smooth rose quartz rondelles.

I made this subtly lavish bracelet with an enormous pile of rose quartz; lovely rondelles that are cool, translucent, and perfectly smooth, glowing faintly as if with an inner light.

There are about 180 smooth rondelles on the bracelet. Each stone measures 6mm across, and they come in varying shades of pale, pale pink. I have wrapped every one in sterling silver wire, and hung it individually from a substantial sterling silver chain.

Then, to highlight the subtle blush of the quartz, I added just a wee few tiny rondelles of natural labradorite. These are excellent stones, pale to mid grey, with wonderful flashes of rainbow chatoyance.

All together, the effect sort of makes me swoon.

The bracelet is finished with a twisted toggle wreath clasp in polished sterling. It is 9 inches (22.5 cm) long. If you would like it in a smaller size, please let me know.

The stones on this bracelet are entirely natural and undyed.

I made these simple earrings using 8 mm faceted briolettes of natural lemon yellow chalcedony.

These are very nice stones in a pretty teardrop cut. The color is a pale, misty yellow, with a softly glowing luminous translucence. It's very similar to lemon quartz.

The briolette drops are wrapped in sterling silver wire, and hung from sterling ear posts.The earrings measure just under 1 inch (2.3cm) long, from the tops of the posts.

The warm, honeyed shimmer of spessartite garnet, the sunshine sparkle of natural citrine. The perfect combination for the perfect statement necklace, a piece to bring brightness and shine to the dullest winter.

There are over 500 stones on this necklace, all of them hand chosen for superb quality.

I formed the chain with 3mm faceted golden citrines, and 2mm microfaceted Namibian spessartite garnets. It attaches to the clasp with two flawless 2ct drops of madeira citrine.

Spessartite garnet is known for its brilliance and color saturation. The source for the Namibian spessartite that I used here is played out, which means that whatever is available right now is all that there is. There are several other spessartite fields in the world, but the stones from Namibia were my absolute favorites. I'll miss them.

The tiny stones I chose for this necklace are subtly shaded from honeyed orange to a deep sorrel, with the lovely sparkle and (even in this tiny size) color saturation that makes the Namibian stuff so amazing.

The central pendant is an impeccable 24 carat madeira citrine, over an inch long and absolutely perfect in cut and color.

Each stone has been individually hand-wrapped on 14k gold filled wire, and is suspended to fall gracefully from a 14k gold filled chain.

The necklace is about 50.8cm (20 inches) long, with the pendant stone adding another 3.2 cm (1 and 1/4 inches). It is finished with a secure gold vermeil swansneck clasp.

Sometimes the simplest things are best.

The large sunshine yellow citrine briolette drops that I've used in these earrings are of excellent quality. Beautifully cut, and a bright, lemony yellow; they are a couple of wonderful rocks.

The briolette drops measure about 19mm in length, with a combined weight of 40.8 carats. These are substantial stones, flawlessly clear, and skillfully faceted for a sparkle that is downright dazzling. I've taken some of the pictures at a lower light level than usual, so you can see what I mean.

For these earrings, I used flat-cut briolettes of translucent rose quartz in palest pink. The briolettes are slightly graduated, from 6 to 9mm in length, all well cut, and with a lovely sparkle. Some are slightly included.
