Incitatus Necklace - Limited Edition

Incitatus

Named for the beloved horse of mad old Caligula.

A large and bold necklace, high polished metal chain which features a large gold tone filigree heart pendant, with black horse's head.

This is part of my Limited Edition collection, only 5 of this design ever made.
Note that they may sell out quickly and cannot be remade.

24" approx chain length x 2.2" H x 2.1" L Heart

"Incitatus was the favored horse of Roman emperor Caligula. Its name is a Latin adjective meaning "swift" or "at full gallop".

According to Suetonius's Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Incitatus had a stable of marble, with an ivory manger, purple blankets, and a collar of precious stones. Others have indicated that the horse was attended to by eighteen servants, and was fed oats mixed with gold flake. Suetonius also wrote that Caligula planned to make Incitatus a consul. Caligula even procured him a wife, a mare named Penelope.

The horse would "invite" dignitaries to dine with him in a house outfitted with servants there to entertain such events."

Matryoshkas are also used metaphorically, as a design paradigm, known as the "matryoshka principle" or "nested doll principle". It denotes a recognizable relationship of "similar object-within-similar object" that appears in the design of many other natural and man-made objects."

The face of this Bavarian Cuckoo Clock is Bella's. She's been feeling a little odd lately...

I created this image in a mixture of hand drawing by pencil and digital fussing; to bring together multiple antique illustrations, creating something new, charming and slightly odd.

This print, which is a limited edition of 200, is signed and numbered on the back. It was hand-printed with a Gocco machine on high-quality Italian mouldmade paper in soft, off-white. This beautiful 260 gsm paper is slightly textured and deckle-edged.
One of the charming things about using Gocco machines is the unpredictability of the results, each print is unlike the others and may have different 'ink footprints' than the one shown here.

This print measures 4.5 x 6.75" and comes in a cello sleeve, which will protect it until you mount or frame it. It will be shipped in a protective cardboard envelope.

I created this image in a mixture of hand drawing by pencil and digital fussing; to bring together multiple antique illustrations, creating something new, charming and slightly odd.

This print, which is a limited edition of 200, is signed and numbered on the back. It was hand-printed with a Japanese Gocco machine on high-quality Italian mouldmade paper in soft, off-white. This beautiful heavy 260 gsm paper is slightly textured and deckle-edged.
One of the charming things about using Gocco machines is the unpredictability of the results, each print is unlike the others and may have different 'ink footprints' than the one shown here.

This print measures 4.5 x 6.75" and comes in a cello sleeve, which will protect it until you mount or frame it. It will be shipped in a protective cardboard envelope.

Golden Autumn Flower

A little black pansy with eyes, upon a polished dual layered pendant; the golden top layer is laser etched with a floral design and the bottom layer is solid black metal.

This is part of my Limited Edition collection, there are only 10 of this design.
